A week later, just as Clara had promised Josh, she was seated in her car outside a small, rundown motel, as she waited for him. Josh had insisted on her bringing the money to him in person.
She had to pawn some of her jewelries to gather the money. But Clara knew she had to buy his silence.
After waiting for almost an hour, Clara was beginning to grit her teeth from anger when she saw Josh walking towards her.
"You just had to keep me waiting didn't you?" She asked,
"Did you bring it?" Josh asked, ignoring the angry-looking Clara. He had been busy with a lady he met at the bar when Clara called to say she was there.
"Josh, you got what you wanted, so you better keep to your words. Leave town and leave our lives." With those words, Clara passed the black bag on the passenger seat to him.
Grinning, "I am not planning on being in your life, but we have a child together." With those words, Josh walked away whistling.
