Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Arrival

Lilith

I sat in a darkened carriage as Sir Garrett explained to me about my new charge Sebastian Aster.

"He's very... how do I respectfully put this..." Garrett looked out the window as he tried to find the words.

"A man wh*re?" I c*cked an eyebrow at him. He chuckled nervously as he nodded.

"I'd say a vivacious appetite but since we're alone, yes."

Lilly giggled in the back of my head; it brought a sly smile to curve over my lips. I returned to looking out the window as Sir Garrett continued.

"Yes, so you will oversee keeping him safe while his parents go and visit his uncle. They're set to leave in a few days but will be gone for about a month." He adjusted his helmet in his lap. I turned slightly to him.

"Only overseeing protection for him, not the entirety of the palace?" I questioned as I made eye contact with Sir Garrett. He quickly looked away, as expected. My eyes scare even the warriors of Astia, and they deal with trials just like us at a young age. I sighed as I turned my gaze back out the window.

"Yes, just Sebastian, he... has a condition that requires special help." He shut his mouth as if he said something he shouldn't have.

The horses' hooves clacking outside slowly halted as the carriage came to a stop. Sir Garrett exited and made his way around to my door. He opened it, offering me a hand to help me get down. I grabbed the door with my gauntlet, causing him to retreat his offer. I laughed.

"It's ok Sir Garrett, I won't have this on all the time", I hopped down, my metal boots clacking against the gravel. He eyed me up and down, he opened his mouth, I'm assuming to ask how I put this all on, but he quickly snapped it shut and ushered me towards the garden entrance. Lilly chuckled.

"He'd lose his marbles once he knows where this all goes," she giggled. I hushed her as I slightly smiled, adjusting my hood over my head as I followed Sir Garrett.

There was a commotion going on to the left of us. An incredibly tall man loomed over a small woman who looked only to be the age of 16. She looked utterly terrified as her eyes landed on us. Relief washed over her face once Sir Garrett spoke.

"Pinning young women against the wall isn't very Prince like, young Sebastian", He tsked, as the man groaned out in frustration.

"Ooo his voice is hot", Lilly chimed in. I grumbled, Lilly was a horn dog, almost all guardians were, it was an unfortunate downside of having one of these beings reside in you, but I've been with Lilly since I've been born and we're pretty in tune with each other.

"Shh," I shushed her as I felt her roll her eyes at me.

"No fun, you're 19 and you still haven't..." I cut her off with a shake of my head as Sir Garretts voice came through.

"Mmm no young master. I wouldn't even try it with this one," He chuckled as he turned to me, gesturing me to go up the small set of stairs the woman who we intervened with ran up. I strode forward, as a slight breeze blew against my cape revealing what was underneath. I heard a sharp breath being taken as I continued forward.

We made our way into the royal room, where the King sat on his throne. I noticed his wife wasn't anywhere to be seen. Could that be intentional? I bowed my head, kneeling in front of him.

"Your highness, I have traveled from Lahnust, where my clan resides. I'm here per your request." I stated clearly.

"Ah! Yes! You got here in no time!" He stood up, outstretching his hands. I stayed in my position as I heard another set of footsteps echo behind me.

"Ah, I believe you already met your charge, Sebastian," King Aster stated as Sebastian made his way by me. I heard him pause as I felt his gaze bore into me. I kept my head down as I took in a soft breath, Lilly practically fought me for control once she got a whiff of his scent. I clenched my jaw, shaking my head slightly as he continued forward, taking his place next to his father.

"Rise Miss..." The king hesitated "I'm sorry you didn't introduce yourself young ma'am", he nervously chuckled.

I slowly stood, as I ran my hands up to my hood, removing it, revealing my face. I flicked my head ever so slightly to get my long red bangs out of my face as I scanned the two. I shot Sebastian a glance, causing Lilly to growl in my mind.

"He's hot..." I quickly shushed her and snapped my attention to the King, who was equally gawking at me like his son.

"If I am allowed to ask sir, may I be shown to where I will be staying? I had quite a long trip and I wish to freshen up." I pulled my arm across my chest as I slightly bowed.

King Aster cleared his throat as he stood up. "Yes! Of course, Sebastian will show you where to go!" He beamed at his son as he ushered him up. Sebastian didn't take his smoldering gaze off me as he stood up. He strode down, halting next to me as his eyes darted across my face, as if he was studying me. I kept my gaze on him as I sensed a dangerous aura off him.

He moved his arm, silently showing me the way to the door. I turned, my boots scraping against the marble flooring as I took strides towards the exit.

"Oooh, alone time with My. Tall brooding and handsome," Lilly giggled.

"Lilly focus, don't you sense that aura that's coming off him?" I replied in my head as she paused. She let out a grumble as she replied "Yes... a demon", she whispered back.
