Chapter 8 - A misunderstood feelings

"Hi Edward, how have you been?" Henry looks at her with love, but he feels angrier seeing Edward hold her hand in front of everyone. "I'm good now; you would know if you answered my messages," he says loudly so Henry can hear. Anna turns to Henry, but he falls silent and walks away, leaving them in the lobby. "How is your wife and the twins?" she asks as she steps back from Edward. "Hey, Anna, can we go to your office and chat?" Henry asks. Anna notices that he has walked quite a distance and nods slightly. He enters her office, and she soon follows with a cup of coffee for Edward. "How are the twins? The last time I checked, they were ten months old," Anna remarks, and he chuckles. "They are sixteen months old now, Anna, but the truth is Nora and I are getting a divorce." Anna looked up from the coffee tray, put it down in front of him, and walked to her table. "That's sad. Is there a reason?" As soon as she asked, she furrowed her brows, wishing she could take it back, but it was too late. "Anna, I realize now that I made a mistake." Anna turned her face toward the stack of files on her table. "Don't misunderstand me, Edward. I just feel bad that things didn't go well for you two." She crouches to look for some files, and when she looks up, she sees Edward standing beside her. How did he get out of his seat? It remains a mystery to her, but her gaze shifts towards the door."Anna, I know you saw my text, and I realize you understand that I still have strong feelings for you. I believe the only reason you married Henry is that I left you all those years ago. I take responsibility for what I did, but it's clear to me that we can't be happy with anyone else because we are still in love with each other." Anna felt a rush of anger at his boldness. After everything he had done, how could he think she still loved him? She wanted to tell him the truth but decided not to stoop to his level. "Edward, I didn't respond to your message because I have no plans to leave my husband. You made your choice, and now you have to live with it," she told him firmly. He took her hands and held them tightly. "Anna, we are meant to be together. Can't you see that the universe is showing us we shouldn't be apart?" Her gaze shifted away from Edward, and she looked up to see Henry standing by the door. "Henry," she called out as he turned to leave. She was ready to chase after him when Edward grabbed her hand. "Anna, there's no reason to run after him. You can't truly love a man like that, remember? You should get a divorce to free him from the pain, and then we can get married," he said. Anna was shocked by what she heard and pulled her hand away from him. She raised her eyebrow, and a small frown appeared on her lovely face.

"You must have a short memory," Anna says angrily. "Six years ago, you were sure I couldn't be the one for you because you had fallen for Nora. You told me to move on with my life. I waited for you to finish your studies and come back to the country." She glares at him. "I made a mistake, Anna. My mom pressured me into this loveless marriage," he replies, his voice trembling as he nearly cries. But Anna's eyes dart around, searching for Henry. "This is real life, Edward. You made your choice, so live with it. Did you even think for a second about how I was doing when you humiliated me? My dad almost had a stroke that night because of what you did to me. He couldn't handle the shame." "I'll do my best to make it up to you, Anna. You're only mad because you still care about me." "No, Edward, that's not true. I don't love you anymore, so don't even think about coming back here." She turns and walks away from him. She enters Henry's office, but he isn't there. She calls his number, but he isn't answering his phone. She feels frustrated because she doesn't know what to do. As Edward is leaving the building, he notices Henry standing in front of the all-glass and steel structure. Edward walks over to Henry, but Henry seems to be deep in thought. "Hey, big bro?" He tapped Henry's shoulder, and Henry turned to see him smiling. "What brings you here, Edward?" Henry asked, his face serious. "I guess you haven't heard, Henry. Nora and I are getting a divorce," Edward replied. Henry raised an eyebrow. "Why are you sharing this with me?" Edward asked.

She steps closer. "I appreciate everything you did for Anna while I was away, but I think you and she should get a divorce, Henry." A shocked expression spreads across Henry's handsome face. "Excuse me?" Henry fixes his gaze on Edward, and now they are standing right in front of each other. Edward has his hands in his pockets. "You know she doesn't really love you. She only married you to keep up appearances. I'm telling you this because I plan to win her back, and you know how much she cares about me," Henry says as he grabs Edward's collar. "She is my wife, do you understand? We are married, and that's not going to change." Henry releases him, but Edward just laughs at him. He had a smug grin on his face. "Why are you so upset, man? I was just giving you a heads-up, but since you got so mad, you must know I'm speaking the truth, right?" Henry then punched him in the face. "Henry, stop!" Anna yells. "Get out of my building right now!" Henry drags him along and then throws him at the security guards. "I don't want to see him here again." When he turns around, he sees Anna crying. He can't think of anything else, so he leaves the building. She tries to catch up with him, but her high heels make it difficult. Once he gets to his car, he speeds away. Anna feels puzzled because she is trying to call his number, but it is switched off.
