Jane scouts Sebastian
With nothing to do but wait for her observation period to be over, Jane plugged the username on the card into search. @Vampfyboi555 had an IG, Discord, Twitter, and even a Pinterest. No tiktok or reddit account.
Jane pulled up his IG. Not surprised to see the likes and reposts of Gary Vee Rich a hustle grindset guru popular with men under 30. Even the OF girls he liked were paired next to hustle quotes about working hard. He didn't leave comments and only liked a few things per day.
His pictures were all filtered Noir and hazy. Only four of himself flexing in a gym mirror, his face covered by the Iphone. One group photo of his school friends and their girlfriends dining out tagged #MikeNMindy4eva. The rest of his pictures were of His SUV, isolated gym equipment, various textbooks, history and finance, and covers of his personal readings of military fiction, motivational, and political biographies.
Sebastian's Twitter bio:
(Bio)
Sebastian he/him. Born 20XX. Student of finance and history at Blackshire Hathaway.
His only tweet was from over a year ago:
Bravo Six Going Dark.

Shadow work doesn't have to be a solo endeavor.
Sebastian was barely 18! Jane tried to push that from her mind. He said he knew something about what that was all about with his father. What a strange kid Jane thought. The muscled up and "highly motivated" man she had been investigating turned out to be just some kid, some barely online future finance bro.
Jane looked over the business card again Drake family investment firm.
"Wealth for generations"
Mr. Drake's phone number
And their website.
The firm's website was as paint by numbers corporate vaguery as she had ever seen. Stock photos of open spaces, office buildings, and aspirational mansions. You wouldn't be able to tell what they sold or did just from the website. Except for the right at the bottom "for a consultation on how we can best manage your trusts and assets call to set up an appointment"
Jane's only conclusions were that Sebastian came from money and was headed into the family business of somehow making the very rich more rich. He kept himself in shape and didn't think too much of the fancy Rolexes or cars on IG. He was online to grab some motivation so he could put the phone down and do whatever else needed to be done, study, work out, read.
Jane fell into doom scrolling more than she should. But she went online for cottage and dark academia aesthetics. Watching travelscape videos and celebrity gossip.
She hadn't known many people like Sebastian. Of course most of her friends were work friends or friends of Ruby. For some reason everyone had always left Jane alone, they pretended not to notice her. High schoolers actively excluded her from their groups until Ruby adopted her. She told herself she was fine with the isolation. It was better than the hostile ridicule she felt whenever she spoke up or tried to get attention.
Even under Ruby's wing she stayed quiet unless Ruby spoke to her, better to blend in and be there than stand up and get kicked out. She thought to herself often.
Jane took a deep breath before tapping the phone and sending a direct message to his discord.

@Vampfyboi555 "is typing" appeared and disappeared several times over what seemed like forever. He was either typing an essay or was second and quadruple guessing himself.
