Chapter 8 - I Don’t Want You To Go

That night Adonis had a dream. She was running terrified. She was running for her life, and something was chasing her. Smoothing dark. Something with intent to kill. She couldn't see but she could feel it presence. It wanted her. It was hungry and it wouldn't stop hunting her until it caught her. She ran so fast that she stumbled on her own feet and fell. It was close now; it would cat her.

A dark figure slowly appeared from the shadows. It had golden eyes and horns. Black horns, curling like the devils. It stretched its hands toward her. She could see its nails that looked more like claws. They were coming closer. She shrieked a high, panicked sound. It had caught her, and now it was shaking her.

"My Lady! My Lady!" a gentle voice urged. She shot her eyes open with a gasp and found Yorian looming over her.

"You are ok," he assured, brushing something away from her face. "It was just a dream."

Adonis was panting and sweat dripped down her face. She was scared and confused. Yorian pulled her to his chest. He held her in his arms and stroke her hair.

"It's alright." He whispered softly.

"Relax and sleep."

Eventually, as she lay in his arms, her heartbeat returned to a steady rhythm and she fell asleep once again.

When she woke up a few maids were already in the room but there no sign of Yorian. She remembered last night while the maids helped her get prepared. She was surprised at the fact that she was till untouched. He hadn't even tried. He must have neem tired from the journey, but tonight there was no escape. Maybe she should talk to him and tell him that she wasn't ready yet. The question was how.

She got out of the bed and the maids helped her bathe and get dressed.

"His Highness wants you to join him for breakfast, Milady,' one of the maids informed her when she was done with her hair.

"Lead the way," she replied.

The maid led Adonis to the garden just outside the room. There Yorian was standing with his back towards her and his arms crossed behind his back.

"Your Highness?"

The Vampire King turned around and she couldn't understand why her heart skipped a beat. "My Lady, did you have a good night's sleep?"

"I did, Your Highness. How about you?" he probably didn't, but it felt courteous to ask. She must have disturbed him with her dream.

"I have slept well. Do you mind having breakfast with me?" he asked and she didn't expect him to be so polite.

"I would love to," she replied with a smile.

The breakfast smelled and looked delicious. There were several dishes and she was surprised to see how the dishes weren't much different from the dishes back at Grandvest.

Adonis expected to see different types of blood colors as this was the Vampire kingdom. That was until her eyes spotted the silver cup beside the King with steam coming out of it. her jaw dropped. Fresh blood. the man has silver cup of fresh blood beside him.

"Do you want some?" after sensing where the girl's attention was, Yorian asked with a smirk.

"No, Your Highness," Adonis gulped hard. Does he want to turn her into a Vampire too?

"Call me Yorian," he sternly reminded. She irks him whenever she will politely say that.

"Yorian," she replied back.

But because of the knot in her stomach that still refused to go away, she couldn't eat much. Instead, she would glance at the garden now and then. It was beautiful. There was a gorgeous range of flowers; roses, daisies, daffodils. Carved hedged depicted strange shapes all around the space. But of course, it was nothing compared to their garden over at the royal palace. Because Elara is always Elara there to take care of it.

Oh, Elara, Adonis wondered what her sister must be doing right now. All she hopes is that her sister is not causing anymore chaos over at Grandvest.

Suddenly, Yorian stood up from his seat and walked over to her, holding his hand out for her to grasp.

"Walk with me," he said and she blushed. He must have noticed how lost she was deep in thoughts.

"You never go out?" He asked, with a curious expression.

"No, I am always busy making new portions."

"So, you have always been home?"

"Yes, but I always go out in search of the herbs I need along with Elara my twin sister." Was her short reply.

"Is she also a healer just like you?" he asked

"No, but she is of great help and is also learning too." Came her reply as they walk through the garden.

"You must be a great healer." He timidly said.

Adonis smiled at his words, "I can't say that but I am definitely trying my best."

And Yorian said nothing afterwards.

After walking for a while in silence, Adonis decided now was the best time to bring up the consummation.

"Your Highness?"

"About the wedding night, I…I'm not ready yet." She looked down quickly, afraid to meet his gaze. Her heart pounding in her ears as she waited for an answer. A laugh, an angry exclamation, anything.

"I know, it's alright," he said gently. She looked up in surprise and breathed out in relief.

"I could just go to one of my mistresses to satisfy my needs." He added.

Hearing the King, the smile on her face died and she clenched her fist. Why was she getting angry? He could go wherever he wanted and fool around with whoever he wanted. He could go to hell. Suddenly he laughed. What was so funny?

"if you don't want me to go, then tell me." He said leaning closer.

"I don't want you to go," she repeated.

Shocked at her own outburst, she had to put her a hand over to her mouth. Yorian laughed again.

Eventually, he stopped laughing. "Adonis," he said stepping closer and gazing into her emerald eyes.

He knew her name.

Of course, Men get always more information about their spouses than women. Unfair!

"I promise you one thing and I will stand by my word. I will treat you well."

He then took her hand in his and kissed her knuckles, his flaming eyes never leaving hers. Her heart fluttered inside her chest.

Dropping her hand, "I have to go, make yourself at home." He said before walking away.
