Chapter 14 - Mystery Deepens

Back in the Kingdom of Grandvest, The Wolf king paced restlessly at his guest chamber. He had to make sure she was at the palace before coming to his chamber after what had happened.

But why did they want to attack? Who were they? She is also a princess of Alvanova but it doesn't like she belong here as someone is desperately trying to get rid of her.

Lykaios paced restlessly in his guest chamber, his mind consumed by the recent attack on Elara. Who could have been behind such a ruthless attempt on her life?

His right- hand man Egon, a loyal and trusted companion, entered the room, bearing the information Lykaios had requested about the princess. "Your Majesty. I have gathered what I could," he began, his voice low.

"What have you found?" Lykaios asked, his eyes fixed on the man.

"The princess is a witch, a powerful one. She always conceals her face with a veil, earning her the name 'Curse Witch', she is known for causing trouble, her anger leading to destruction. If some angers her, their surroundings can catch fire. When she's upset, flowers and crops wither, and storms erupt. But when she's joyful, the entire Kingdom blooms, and it rains."

"She was even looked in a tower once." Egon added.

Lykaios listened intently, his mind racing. A witch, a powerful one. Could this be the reason for the attacks? The more he learned about Elara, the more intrigued he became.

Since last night, Princess Elara could not be able to sleep after what had happened. Elara sat in her chamber, her mind racing. She was still reeling from the terrifying encounter in the woods. The man who had saved her… was he the same man she had seen beheading someone in the market? But who was he?

She remembered the man who had attended her sister's wedding. Could it be him? But all the foreign guests had already left the kingdom.

Elara's curiosity was piqued, she decided to ask her brother, Aureus, if any of the guests were still in the palace. Perhaps one of them could shed some light on the mysterious stranger.

With a newfound determination, Elara rose from her seat and headed towards her brother's chamber. She was determined to uncover the truth about the man who had saved her life.

Elara arrived at her brother's chamber, her heart beating . The guard announced her arrival, and she entered the room.

"Aureus, I need to ask you something," she begun, her voice filled with urgency.

Aureus looked up from his book, a frown creasing his brow. "What is it, Elara? Are you in trouble again?"

Elara shook her head. "No, I'm not… curious. Have all the foreign guests left the palace?"

Aureus thought for a moment, "yes, I believe so. Except for one king. King Lykaios Draven, the King of Alvanova."

"Elara's eyes widened. "The Wolf King?" she asked her voice barely a whisper.

Aureus nodded. "He's strange one, the Wolf King. Always keeps to himself."

Elara's curiosity was piqued. She had heard rumors about the Wolf King, but she had never met him. she wondered if he could be the man who had saved her in the woods.

Elara and Aureus, entered the dining hall, their eyes scanning the room for familiar faces. As they made their way to their table. Elara's heart raced. She was nervous, yet excited to see if she could spot the man who had saved her.

The princess saw her father the King of Grandvest and mother Queen Catrina and their grandmother the Queen mother Daenerys Corvus.

Elara and Aureus joined their parents at the dining table. Their mother, the Queen, greeted them with a smile, "Where hav*+e you two been all morning?" she asked.

"We were taking a walk in the gardens," Elara replied.

Queen mother Daenerys, sitting at the head of the table turned to her granddaughter. "Remember, Elara, we are hosting the king of Alvanova. Be on your best behavior and avoid any trouble."

"I beg you to not burn anyone at the palace while the Wolf King is still here."

Elara nodded, her heart sinking. She knew her grandmother was referring to her tendency to get into scrapes. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt as she lowers her head down.

The King cleared his throat, gaining the attention of the table. "Mother, I have already informed you that the Wolf King decided to stay because he wishes to form an alliance with Grandvest."

Queen Mother Daenerys's face flushed with anger, "I know you are supporting your daughter, that is why that girl continues to cause trouble, she exclaimed. "I promise if you cause one more trouble again. I will take you back to that tower until my death. She is always out to create chaos. One day, she will cause such a catastrophe that you will regret not listening to me."

King Theodore sighed, his patience wearing thin, "Mother, enough. Elara is a child. She needs guidance not punishme*nt. "

Queen Daenerys's anger flared. "Child? She is a witch, a curse! She is bringing misfortune to this kingdom."

The tension in the room was palpable. Elara though was expressionless as she ate her food. Knowing her grandmother, the princess knew better than to react to any of the woman's words.

The King turned to his mother. His voice filled with exasperation. "Mother, why are you saying such things about your granddaughter?"

Queen Daenerys ignored him, her gaze fixed on her grandson, Aureus. "Aureus my child, do you have any friends from a noble family or a knight who is not married yet? We could arrange a marriage for Elara."

Aureus's eyes widened. "Grandmother, are you serious? Elara is not that bad."

Queen Mother Daenerys nodded firmly. "It's time for her to settle down. A marriage would bring peace and stability to the kingdom."

Elara felt a wave of dread wash over her. She didn't want to be forced into a marriage like her sister, especially not with someone she didn't love. She knew she had to find a way to escape her grandmother's clutches.

As the meal continued, Elara's mind raced. She had to come up with a plan. She couldn't let her grandmother control her destiny. She had to take matters into her own hands.
