Chapter 6 - Sneaking Out

After the royal wedding, the members of the Corvus family all went to their respective chambers.

However, Princess Elara had not been able to have a peace of mind while resting in her chamber as the Princess continued pacing from one place to another.

As the Grandvest princess has still been unable to sleep, she hurriedly changed into the commoner attire she normally wears anything she would secretly leaves the palace.

Now, Princess Elara was ready to sneak out of the palace, she took her dagger and held it tightly. The dagger is not a necessity but she always has it with her incase.

"If not for brother Aureus, why will I be carrying a dagger around," the princess mused as the reason she always takes the dagger around with her was because it was gifted to her by her brother.

Who made sure she made him a promise to always have it on her? Without waiting further, she slowly left her chamber and began her journey sneaking around before reaching the end of her chamber.

The moon cast an ethereal glow over the palace courtyard. Princess Elara, cloaked in shadow, moved with the grace of a cat, her footsteps barely audible on the cobblestones. She had carefully planned her escape, waiting until the guard were distracted by a minor disturbance in the outer courtyard.

As she slipped past the first guard, her heart pounded in her chest, she ducked behind a large fountain, avoiding the patrolling guard's gaze. With a practiced move, she scaled the high wall, her fingertips finding purchase in the rough stones.

Once over the wall, Elara found herself in her secret passage, she took the artifact she used to close the secret passage she had created. It was a narrow passage, barely wide enough for a person to squeeze through. and immediately, the open hole she had made came into view. With a surge of adrenaline, Elara pushed through the passage and disappeared into the night.

Meanwhile, at the royal dining area. It was time for dinner at the Grandvest Royal house and the king along with Queen Catrina and Queen mother Daenerys were seated at the dining table.

"Mother, I am not happy that you left the royal hall without saying goodbye to Adonis," King Theodore muttered. His face full of despair. His mother Queen Daenerys left immediately the wedding was over and didn't even stay to bid farewell to her granddaughter.

Frustration gnawed at King Theodore; he can only imagine how hurt his daughter must have been at her grandmother's action.

"The wedding is over already; my blessings are with her." The Queen mother plainly replied expressionless as if she had done a great thing.

"I have been feeling uneasy since The King of Alvanova decided to increased his stay." The voice of Queen Catrina cut through the silence that hung thick after the Queen mothers reply.

King Theodore knew better than to reply to his mother's words.

"Wait, don't tell me that curse girl has created chaos again? I hope we can find someone for her soon as well." the Queen mother questioned.

"You have to do something; I'm telling you before that girl create an unimaginable chaos you can not handle." She added almost yelling.

King Theodore sighed deeply, "The young king is staying as he wishes to create an alliance with Grandvest."

"Oh, I hope you are telling me the truth Theodore. Unless you want that girl to cause our deaths. Especially me that am this old. I thought my heart can take anymore of the chaos she brings."

"Mother please don't talk about dying, you will be here to witness Aureus wedding and hold Adonis's children." The King tried getting the queen mother to calm down.

"Ah, where is my grandson. My dear Aureus."

King Theodore could finally breath a sign of relief after hearing his mother's words. "Aureus is ensuring sure all the guest return safely to their destination."

"Send him to my chamber later, I have something to discuss with him."

"Yes, mother," King Theodore replied dutifully.

After Lykaios bid farewell to his friend, the Wolf King went back to the guest chamber but itching to step out as always. The Wolf King is not the one to stay in one place.

He is always out for something.

He hunts for his prey.

The Wolf King stood after informing his right-hand man Egon to get two horses ready as he will be stepping out. And of course, Lykaios didn't forget to take his word from the sword rack.

"My king about the information you wanted, by tomorrow, I will verify it and let you know," Egon, the Wolf King's right-hand man dutifully said.

"Make it fast." Lykaios replied.

"Yes, My King."

The two stepped out of the guest chamber making their way out of the Palace to where the horses are.

As they ride side by side with his right-hand man, Lykaios suddenly spoke, "Egon, lets head to that mountain." The King said before pulling the saddle of his horse and ride ahead of his right-hand man.

While they ride, Lykaios sharp ears sensed something looming, the Wolf King signaled with a hand wave for his right-hand man to stop which the man dutifully obeyed.

It wasn't long after that the two men got down and tied their horses to the tree as the king instructed. Lykaios and his right-hand Egon continued their journey again but this time around, without a horse they walked pulling out their swords.

Lykaios focused his amber eyes towards the faraway mountain range as the bright moonlight shone on him. As the night breeze played with his long dark hair, the Wolf King's face darkened.

The Wolf Kings amber eyes glowed in the silvery light, reflecting the tension that crackled in the air.

Lykaios, the Wolf King, and his right-hand man were strolling through the forest. With his enhanced hearing, Lykaios sensed others nearby. He slowed his pace and concealed himself behind a thicket of bushes. As he scanned the area, he spotted Princess Elara walking ahead, seemingly oblivious to the danger lurking nearby.

One by one, the attackers emerged from their hiding places. One of them raised a cudgel, aiming to strike Elara's legs. Lykaios heard Elara's cry of pain as she fell to the ground. He burst from his hiding place, charging towards the attackers.

Elara, terrified, scrambled away, her heart pounding in her chest. She watched as Lykaios engaged in a fierce battle with the attackers, his movements swift and powerful.
