Chapter 9 - Stalk

Malik

I sat watching from afar as my beautiful Audra steped out of her brothers truck. They exchanged a few words and said their goodbyes and then he drove of, the exaughst leaving a cloud of gray smoke behind. She stood there nervously and finally walked into the building presumably heading towards her first class. "MALIK! MALIK, WHERE ARE YOU." I hear my father yell through mind link. I roll my eyes. It's not like I can see her through the walls anyway. "I'm coming father, I just wanted to see Audra for a little bit." I say in response. "You're being creepy son. Almost like a stalker. Quit it and get down here, we've got work to do." He growls. I huff and head back towards the castle. After about 10 minutes I reach the castle. I stride into my dads office and lean against his desk. He looks at me over the rim of his glasses, his eyes narrowing. I smile nervously and push myself off of his desk. "Sit down Malik. Now that you've found your mate it's more important now than ever that this must be learned. You inherit the throne when you're 21, your birthday is only a few months away. I understand you want to watch over your mate but what kind of King neglects his duties for pleasure." He says sharply, lecturing me on my misbehaviors. I hang my head down shamefully. "Okay father, from here fourth I will focus on being King and not pay attention to what my mate is doing." I say determined. He nods slightly in approval, "Good now follow me to the armory. We have to give you a lesson in war." He states, leading me out of his office and down into the basement where our weapons were kept. After the armory father taught me about procedures, tools, archives, and much more. Around 7 he was finally satisfied with my understanding of what he taught and he dismissed me. A smile crept onto my face as I raced out of the library. I thundered down the hall surely making the inhabitants of the rooms upset by my ruckess. I tore through the castle and burst through the front door my legs pumping under me as I pushed them towards my Queen. I wore a goofy grin as I stripped off my clothes in the changing area, and shifted into my wolf. My dusty brown and white speckled fur shone under the bright sun. My tounge slopped around while I ran. The wolf equivalent of a grin. I was so happy. I pranced giddily toward her house when my fathers words echoed in my mind. I frown and stop running. Thats right. I can't see her. Oh, well after training shouldn't hurt. I think. My smile returns as I sprint the rest of the way to her house. I peek into her window and see no movement. Curious I walk up to the house peering into the windows discreetly. There she was. Sitting at the table eating. A smile tugs at my lips as my tail starts to wag like a dog. She was so beautiful. Her dark hair provided a curtain so that I couldn't see her face. I watched for a little while before I got a mind message. "Malik? Malik? Where are you?" I hear Isla ask. "I'm outside Audra's house." I reply. "Well you need to come home. The king is looking for you. If he sees you've run off again . . . . ." She explains starting to trail off." I purse my lips and whimper in sadness. "I'll be right there, Isla. Thank you for the heads up." I say disappointed. I head back to the castle grounds and stay in the forest hunting for some small wild game. "Where are you at Malik, you better not be at your mates house." I hear across my mind. Isla was right. He sounded pissed. "I'm hunting father." I reply. "Hunting what? Audra?" He snapped "No sir, a rabbit." I respond. "If I find out you're lying there will be hell to pay." He growls."Yes Sir." My father has two personalities. It depends on who is in control. Werewolves have a wolf spirit in which typically the human and wolf spirits connect and become one. For the most part both control equally the vessel. In some cases the spirit isn't an exact match for the human spirit so they clash and battle for dominance. Which creates the multi personalities. My dads wolf is to powerful for his human spirit. So often the wolf is in control, and he is mean. The gene ran in my family where the wolf spirits are to great for our bodies and in which case I was lucky. My wolf and I battled in the beginning and I lost control often. Soon though our spirits came to an understanding and he backed off on always trying to dominate. I was one of the rare cases where my wolf and my spirit don't clash even though he can take over at any time. I continued to hunt until I caught the sweet smell of blood. I licked my lips as I come across a deer struggling against a fallen tree. Fear settled deep within it's brown eyes as it spotted me stalking closer to it. I grin wickedly and lunge clamping down on its neck digging my teeth in. It's blood ran slow and hot around my mouth as I watched the life being drained from its body. The sweet blood trickled down my snout and dripped on the forest floor. Satisfied with my kill, I drag the deer's limp body back to the castle and leave it in front of our butchers door. I gave a short loud bark. To which seth opened the door to see me standing over the deers body. "A fine kill young prince. Thank you." He says taking the deer inside to be processed. I give a small nod and trot back to the changing area. I rinse off my snout from where the blood had stained my fur, and change back into a human. I threw on some old clothes and headed inside the caslte heading up to my room. The room was a deep forest green with dark oak wainscoting. The ceiling had a mural of my favorite nap spot. It was a clearing with a large waterfall where the deer like to hang out. The sound of the water was extremely peaceful. Being the prince my room was more like a small suite in a hotel. The bed was raised slightly on a platform with a black L-shaped couch pushed up against the footboard. A coffee table sat in front of the couch with my gaming console. On the wall opposite the couch was a dark stone fireplace and large flat screen TV. Walking to the left was my large walk in closet and on the wall with the bed was the door to the bathroom which had a jacuzzi tub, large walk in shower, closed in toilet and a his and her matching sink. Right outside the bathroom door was my balcony which had a love seat, and a few plants. I breathed in my bedroom smell, I had wall plugs that made it smell just like the trees in the forest. I sighed wondering how Audra was doing. My wolf was on edge about something. I could feel him fighting against himself to try and gain control over me. There was no way to know for sure what was going on. I paced the floor nerves flooding me as my wolf became more and more agitated. The more time passed the more restless he became. And that was it. I lost control. It has been 3 years since I had last been forcefully taken over and now. My wolf had full control of body. I half shifted, my claws and canines extending. Fur sprouting all over. I tried beating my way back in but the wall was solid and I was not powerful enough. "Mate. DANGER!" It growled. I watched as it threw itself out of my bedroom door and clammored through the hall causing my parents door to open abruptly. My mother stared at my half wolf body with worry. Her brows furrowed in confusion. My father looked at me with sadness and understanding. He seemed to be in control now. It was only a split second that I saw them as my body tore through the castle and fully shifted racing towards Audra's home.
