Chapter 2 - 2

Arrival at the Smith residence.

The Rolls Royce was parked in the garage, and Karin helped Sellyna get out of the car. Mr Smith awaited Sellyna's arrival. He took Sellyna into a separate building they called the Pavilion.

"You're not Jia?" Mr Smith asked.

"My name is Sellyna, sir."

"Ah, it's not nice to be called sir. Call me father-in-law, though it may be temporary. I understand you will reject my son, but at least with this arrangement, you will accept him."

Sellyna was silent.

"I didn't expect Mr Ferdinan to have another daughter..." Mr Smith suddenly fell silent, turning his head in shock. "You!" Mr Smith was stunned. "Didn't you die in the accident with your mother?" Mr Smith asked in surprise.

Sellyna didn't answer; she walked with her face down, her hands clenched tightly.

That's right, everyone knew that Sellyna, the only daughter of the Ferdinand family, had died with her mother in an accident a year ago.

"Oh, Sellyna. I'm giving you a chance to decide; if you can't accept it, you can cancel the contract."

"I'll take it," Sellyna said, cutting Mr Smith off. "Whatever my status, I will stay here," said Sellyna.

Mr Smith handed Sellyna a contract and led her into a room. This is your room from now on until further notice. Mr Smith informed her.

"Although you said you would accept it, you must first understand the contents of this contract." Mr Smith handed Sellyna an inkblot. "Sellyna, your status is only that of a contract wife, but you are a special servant to my son. You will regret it if you ask to be released from the contract shortly."

"I made this just in case...'" Mr Smith stopped when he saw Sellyna start to sign the contract.

"I am very pleased that you have accepted our offer." Mr Smith said in a cold tone. "He had deliberately chosen a daughter from a troubled family or a stepdaughter so that they would not object and protest at the contents of the contract letter."

"Here is a copy for you to read again in case you forget," Mr Smith said. After Sellyna had signed the contract, Mr Smith and his assistant left Sellyna.

Karin came in and brought her a change of clothes.

"I didn't expect you to accept; I hope you'll stay here."

Sellyna nodded.

"You can remove the wedding dress if it makes you uncomfortable." Karin walked out. "I'll wait outside; you should meet the Young Master."

Karin closed the door and left Sellyna to change. After changing and putting away the things Mr Smith had given her, Sellyna walked out of her room.

Karin looked at her and told Sellyna to follow her.

"There will be a maid who will bring food and meet Mr Jayden's needs. Your job is simply to be at his side, deliver whatever we give you, change the sheets, and keep the food on the table. You don't need any special skills; I've posted the schedule on the wall of your room."

"Do you understand?" Karin asked.

"Yes," Sellyna said very obediently.

Karin stopped in front of a door and opened it. "Sir, let me in," Karin said. She looked at Sellyna and asked her to come in, but Sellyna and Karin's arrival was met by an object flying towards them.

"What are you doing here?" Jayden asked harshly.

Brak!

The empty plate floating towards them fell and shattered on the floor, much to Sellyna's surprise.

"I told you to go! I don't need anything!" he snapped.

"Sir, I came here with the person your father trusted to look after you. Besides, she will be with you." Karin explained.

"I don't need her, Karin. Just take the bitch away," he ordered, throwing an empty tray at her.

Karin and Sellyna immediately looked down, the tray hovering just above their heads. The thud of the tray hitting the wall made Sellyna clutch her chest.

Her heart was pounding. Was she going to have to spend several years by the side of a temperamental man?

Karin looked at Sellyna, then back at Jayden. "Sir, from now on, just tell him. I'm leaving," Karin said.

She left Sellyna and Jayden alone and shut the door.

"My name is Sellyna, Mister. From now on, I will serve you..." Sellyna bowed briefly. When she looked up, she saw Jayden getting off the bed and staggering towards her.

His weak body caused Jayden's foot to step on the edge of the sheet and finally fall on Sellyna's body.

"Akh!" Sellyna's eyes widened as she saw Jayden's beautiful face. But there was something strange about the look in Jayden's eyes.

He got up quickly and returned to his bed. "Go away!" he ordered.

Sellyna tried to get to her feet, then bowed respectfully. "If you need anything, call me, I'll be nearby..."

"Go!" he shouted.

Sellyna left the room and went back to her room. One thing she knew, apparently, the young master was blind? No wonder he was so temperamental.

In the afternoon, the servant from the main house met Sellyna in the Pavilion to deliver food. Sellyna took it and carried the tray of food into Jasyden's room.

"Good evening, Mister..."

Brak!

A flowerpot flew to greet Sellyna's arrival. Fortunately, the man sitting on the bed was not looking, so the throw missed.

"It's time for your supper, sir."

"Just take the food away," Jayden said.

"I can't, sir. You have to eat it, or I'll be scolded."

"Do I care?" asked Jayden very coldly.

"Um, but I care about you..."

Jayden threw the tray of food Sellyna was carrying at her again, the food on the tray spilling and staining Sellyna's clothes.

"A lowlife like you cares because you want money from my family, right?" he asked.

Deg!

Jayden's words were valid.

"I know Father chose you because you're not the expected person in your family, right? If you give up and cancel the contract, you know you'll die here? Then, no one would come looking for you."

Sellyna froze, staring at the man who was scolding her. She had not read the entire contract, but hearing Jayden's words, Sellyna was furious. But she could only hold back her anger.

"So instead of staying to be by my side, you'd rather die quickly at John's hands!" Jayden said coldly.

"Die quickly at the hands of your father's messenger or die at your hands; it's the same. I am indeed..."

"You're very ambitious with the compensation money, huh? Then it's true; you're the one who was rejected by your own family!" Jayden said very precisely. "But what the hell, you won't find a life here."

"Are you through talking?" Sellyna asked. She had finished mopping the dirty floor and brought the broken plates and glasses. "You still have to eat. Do you think I'm going to give up? I won't," Sellyna said, closing the door to the room with a bang.

Jayden was silent.

Sellyna asked the waiter again for Jayden's food. Karin came over and brought the food.

"I have a suggestion," Sellyna said.

"What is it?" Karin asked.

"That we get rid of the stuff in Mr. Jayden's room, he's always throwing it around and breaking it; what's the point of having it in his room?"

"Sorry, we can't do that," Karin said, handing over a new food tray. The broken items will be replaced with new ones so outsiders won't feel weird about Mr Jayden.

Sellyna was taken aback, but she understood that Jayden was the sole heir to a conglomerate family. The fact that Mr Smith was not remarrying meant that Jayden had no competition.

The door to the room opened slowly, Jayden unaware of Sellyna's presence, then slowly closed. Sellyna approached the bedside table and placed the food on it.

Sellyna found Jayden sitting covered with a blanket; to Jayden's surprise, Sellyna immediately pulled the blanket away.

"Sir, I am indeed a bitch who will not be wanted when I die. But I am a different kind of bitch," Sellyna said as she pulled Jayden's body against the back of the bed.

Sellyna cornered him.

"Your father didn't install CCTV or hire bodyguards, so no one will know what I did to you," Sellyna said as she grabbed Jayden's chin.

"Open your mouth and eat the food," Sellyna said as she forcibly fed him.

Jayden struggled, he body was weak and frail, so she could not fight Sellyna. He decided to spit out the food and smear it on Sellyna's face. But Sellyna was not one to give up easily, she continued to force feed Jayden.

"Emmhhh!" Jayden whimpered as Sellyna shut his mouth.

"Swallow!" Sellyna ordered, pressing her hand over Jayden's mouth.

The man was forced to swallow the porridge Sellyna fed him, still struggling and fishing for the gun that was always hidden under his pillow. When he found it, he aimed it straight at Sellyna's forehead.

Sellyna froze, slowly removing the hand that had silenced Jayden's mouth.

"You're really not afraid to die, are you?" Jayden shouted, his clothes falling apart.

Sellya froze, so nervous and afraid of Jayden pulling the trigger. Who would have thought that Jayden was hiding a gun, too? Sellyna had guessed wrong.

"Get out of my room, or I'll blow your head off," he snapped again in a cold tone.

Sellyna's heart beat so fast that she grabbed Jayden's hand, which held the gun. "Just shoot!" she ordered without hesitation.

Jayden frowned.

"After all, I was declared dead by my family a year ago. If I die here again, I will die with honor because I died at the hands of a Young Master." Sellyna explained her reasoning.

Jayden was silent, his mind replaying Sellyna's words. "Have you ever died?"

"I-mean you?" Jayden asked, not taking the gun away from Sellyna's forehead.

"Yes, like you said, I'm an unwanted person in my family, so everyone thinks I died a long time ago. So if you kill me, I will be happy to die for real."
