Every day, Sellyna did her chores with ease. The only difficulties were mealtimes and getting the young Master to bathe. Jayden always refused the food she gave him and refused to get out of bed.
"Strange, the food is so good," she grumbled as she cleaned up the spilled porridge on the floor.
Jayden glanced around, thinking he was the only one in his room now that he had kicked Sellyna out.
"Other people work hard for food, and he can only waste food!" Sellyna still grumbled as she mopped the floor.
"Are you calling me names?" Jayden asked, looking around for Sellyna.
Sellyna looked up and glared irritably at Jayden, who was hiding under the covers. Sellyna wanted to say yes, but her Master was so temperamental that Sellyna was afraid Jayden's behavior would escalate.
Why should I talk about the person in front of me?
"Be careful what you say..." The man began to crawl, fingering the bedside table beside his bed.
Sellyna let out a heavy sigh. "Why?" she asked, not caring.
"You're getting bolder! Why haven't you left my room?" Jayden shouted, picking up the clock box from the bedside table and throwing it at Sellyna.
Aren't you satisfied with just forcing me to eat? Jayden shouted in frustration.
The clock, the vase, and the lamp flew towards Sellyna. However, they did not hit Sellyna's body because Jayden could not see where Sellyna was.
Sellyna picked up the vase pieces and collected them. "If you don't like it, just swear not to break innocent things like that," she muttered.
"Haha." Jayden laughed blandly. "Why are you afraid of getting hurt?" he asked.
Sellyna clenched her fists and was about to answer when Jayden spoke first.
"Aren't you afraid of dying?" Jayden asked.
"But why are you afraid of being hurt?" he asked again.
"Predictably, a woman like you has to rely on her face to make money, huh!"
Sellyna held back her anger.
"If your face is ugly, you're useless," Jayden swore. "What a disgusting and greedy woman," he swore again.
"You were hoping to get that compensation money, weren't you? That's why you stay here, even though I keep throwing you out," Jayden said.
Sellyna remained silent as she cleared the floor of broken objects.
"You have enough ability to please others, including my father. But by any chance, did you accept this marriage contract and seduce my father at the same time? You have nothing to lose," Jayden swore.
Sellyna heaved a sigh. "You are so mean," Sellyna said. "For an honorable person like you, your words are so disrespectful when I am not just any servant but your contract wife!"
"What did you say?" Jayden was deeply offended.
"But it's true, I was hoping for this compensation money. The value is fantastic, and Your Father will give it to me as soon as this contract is over," Sellyna chirped.
"What?" Jayden said in annoyance.
"Some of what you said is true, but I didn't tempt the Great Lord for more money. And as for me being afraid of getting hurt, it's not because I'm afraid my face will get ugly..." Sellyna paused for a moment.
Without getting hurt again, Sellyna's face was already hideous. So Mr Ferdinand locked her in the cellar for a year.
"Well, you don't have to be afraid if I betray you; I'll do as the contract says. If you don't like me staying by your side every day like this, please ask Your Father to kill me."
Jayden was silent.
"I would be very grateful," Sellyna said. She put all the broken pieces into a plastic bin bag and approached Jayden again.
"Sorry, sir. I have to do my chores quickly to get dinner on the table," Sellyna said, ruffling the sheets. Jayden's sheets and blankets were filthy with spilled porridge.
Jayden was stunned, and his body rolled back onto the floor. "You're getting bolder!" Jayden was angry again.
Sellyna immediately changed the sheets and a new blanket, then approached Jayden, who was too confused to get up. Sellyna grabbed Jayden's shirt collar and unbuttoned it one button at a time.
Jayden slapped Sellyna's hand away. "How dare a bitch like you touch me!" Jayden shouted, struggling.
"You've forgotten, haven't you, sir? I'm your wife," Sellyna said, struggling to unbutton Jayden's shirt. "Touching you is allowed in the contract, but why are you so afraid? Is your body so beautiful that you don't want to be touched by a dirty woman like me?"
Jayden was silent for a moment at Sellyna's words.
Sellyna had no choice but to remove Jayden's shirt roughly. After all, if one shirt was damaged, Jayden could buy a truckload of the same clothes. Waiting for Jayden to change his clothes was very time-consuming.
"I told you I was running out of time because I'm hungry, too! So please cooperate," Sellyna said.
Jayden struggled even more and refused. However, Sellyna managed to get Jayden's shirt off. When she looked at Jayden, Sellyna was shocked.
The man was very thin and weak, his body covered in claw marks and bruises.
Sellyna hadn't noticed the wounds on Jayden's body because he had been changing his clothes. She moved closer and cupped the man's handsome face before her, then let out a heavy sigh as Sellyna remembered what Karin had said two days ago. It was true; if there were no things to throw to vent his anger, Jayden would hurt his own body.
Jayden's face was flushed with a mixture of anger and shame.
Sellyna immediately put on a new shirt and then put aside a new pair of trousers for Jayden. "Sir, I have the new trousers and underpants for you. I take my leave. Good night," Sellyna said. She left the room.
Jayden felt the floor before him and found the cloth Sellyna had mentioned.
Sellyna walked out of the room, her breath catching in her throat. Jayden's words had been very sharp, but Sellyna admitted it was because she was expecting compensation.
"Good thing he didn't pull out the gun again," Sellyna muttered as she went to the back room to take out the rubbish and wash the new sheets.
In the dining room of the current pavilion, Karin was arranging the dishes on the table when Sellyna arrived.
"Did he eat well tonight?" Karin asked.
"The same, just one bite..." Sellyna paused for a moment; there was no way she could honestly say that the food Jayden ate was forced. "Even then, the Mister still spits it out."
Karin looked at Sellyna without comment.
"Why?" Sellyna asked as she considered her question. "Why did Mister refuse food so much?" asked Sellyna, this time looking at Karin.
Karin sighed heavily, and Sellyna, not daring to ask any more questions, immediately took the food provided for her and devoured it.
Karin, who was about to leave, decided to sit with Sellyna.
"Mister wasn't like this before," Karin said.
Sellyna looked up and jumped. Karin began to tell of Jayden's happy past; a bright and accomplished boy, Jayden was also the sole heir to the wealthy Smith family and had a beautiful fiancée named Zenayya.
It all began at Zenayya's father's birthday party when an incident occurred. Someone disguised as a family servant attacked Jayden at the party.
The attack left Jayden seriously injured. With quick treatment, his wounds healed quickly, but not his eyes. The strange liquid splashed by the attacker caused Jayden's eye problems.
"At first, Mister's eyes were just burning," Karin explained. "But over time, his vision blurred, and he couldn't distinguish shapes or see distant objects."
"Then... he went blind. From then on, he became moody and locked himself in his room. His fiancée's family only knows that Mister is recovering."
"The only people who know his true condition are Mr Smith, me and John. Then, now, it is you. All the workers at the main house are unaware of Mister's true condition." Karin explained.
"So, Sellyna, you must endure and serve him alone in complete secrecy."
Sellyna swallowed her food roughly; the stories she had heard about Jayden were painful.
"When you've finished, take a break," Karin said. She got up and said goodbye to Sellyna.
The next day in the morning, Sellyna was still trying to hang on. She did her job as usual.
"Good morning, Sir!" Sellyna said as she closed the door. Sellyna strolled to the curtains and opened them.
Jayden grabbed anything nearby and tried to throw it at Sellyna, but Sellyna had already left the room to get breakfast.
Sellyna got a tray of food from Karin and returned to Jayden's room.
"Sir, it's time for your breakfast," Sellyna chirped.
"Get out of my room!" growled Jayden, who immediately brushed off the empty air before him. But his hand touched the tray of porridge Sellyna was carrying, spilling it and shattering plates and glasses all over the floor.
Sellyna came back out and asked for more breakfast, and Karin gave it to her without even asking, let alone looking at the broken plates and glasses on the tray.
Jayden seemed to know that Sellyna would approach and force-feed her, so he managed to spill the tray again. Sellyna was annoyed. Jayden had managed to break six plates of porridge and glasses of drinks for breakfast alone.
"Sir, how can you get well if eating is so difficult?" grumbled Sellyna, losing her patience.
"I don't need all this; just go away!" growled Jayden.
"I'll bring more," said Sellyna, who had finished clearing the broken plates and glasses.
"I don't need them, so no need," Jayden replied.
"Would you like a new menu, sir? Please tell me so I can ask the chef for help."
"I just want you out of here," Jayden shouted.
Sellyna gave a rude sigh. 'Would you like to eat alone, sir? I'll bring it and put it in your room.
"I told you, I don't need it!" Jayden shouted in annoyance.
Sellyna glared at Jayden, clenching her fists. She wanted to punch the temperamental man right in front of her. But Sellyna decided to hold back and went to get some fresh breakfast.
