Chapter 6 - 6

Sellyna brought in a tray of food, then set the table by the bed and arranged the food. She helped Jayden out of bed and carried him to a chair. Once Jayden was comfortably seated, Sellyna stood beside him.

"Would you like me to feed you?" Sellyna asked.

Jayden declined with a wave of his hand.

"All right, I'll do something else."

Jayden fed him, not just one bite this time, but several, which he managed to finish. Sellyna, who had changed the sheets and blankets, was surprised that half the porridge was still there.

Sellyna didn't ask many questions, quickly cleared away the food tray, and then helped Jayden back to his bed.

"Aren't you tired of being cooped up in your room?" Sellyna asked curiously.

"Are you making fun of me this time?" he asked.

Sellyna gave him a worried look. "No!" she said. "The morning air is good for your health..."

"You want to show the world how pathetic I am?" Jayden got angry again because he was offended.

Sellyna was stunned.

"People will look at me and mock me as a pathetic young master," he muttered.

Sellyna gave a rude sigh. "You are already overthinking things," she muttered as she left Jayden's room.

Jayden could not be angry that Sellyna had left him this time. He sat on his bed daydreaming, a thick blanket covering his entire body. He thought about Sellyna's offer, and his face turned red with anger.

Sellyna didn't understand his condition, for she was perfect.

When Sellyna finished washing, she approached Karin to return the food tray. Karin was as surprised as Sellyna when she received the tray.

This time, he ate more than three bites. Sellyna announced proudly.

Good! Karin praised her. Then she picked up the food tray and carried it to the main house.

Sellyna returned to Jayden, her arrival taking him by surprise.

"Sir! Is there something you wish to do?" Sellyna asked. "Since you didn't make it difficult for me today, my work got done faster."

Jayden gritted his teeth.

"Would you like to walk in the park or read a book? Or..."

"Stop making fun of me," Jayden grumbled.

Sellyna was taken aback. "I'm not making fun... Oh, I'm sorry!" Sellyna said as she realized Jayden's current state. Sellyna offered to keep Jayden from shutting himself up in this boring room, but as a blind Young Master, it would be a shame if many people knew of his current condition.

"But, Sir. There are books for the blind these days," Sellyna said.

Jayden clenched his hands. "Then will you buy them? What will people say if you buy a book for a blind man? Will you tell the whole world that I'm blind?"

Sellyna bit her lip, holding back her anger at Jayden's words. Sellyna thought hard. "How about I read you a book?" she offered.

Jayden frowned.

"What kind of books do you like?" she asked again.

"I don't know." Jayden looked away.

"Then let me choose one for you." Sellyna left the room humming.

Jayden wanted to reject her but didn't have time, for Sellyna's presence was no longer felt.

Sellyna returned with some romance novels she had taken from the reading room. She walked over to Jayden and began to select the novels for him to read.

"The bear's roar filled my ears..."

"Stop it!" Jayden pleaded.

Sellyna looked up. "Why, it's a very popular fantasy romance."

"Your taste is outdated," Jayden said. "It's so boring; change it!" he pleaded.

Sellyna sighed rudely, picked up another book, and opened it. "Her name is Regina, a beautiful girl who attracts attention...."

"Change it!" Jayden pleaded.

"You haven't listened to a single paragraph," Sellyna protested.

"Why did you choose such a book?" asked Jayden irritably.

"You don't mention what book you want to read," she grumbled.

Jayden sulked; he didn't like romance novels. But he was reluctant to mention the book he wanted to read.

"What about online novels?" Sellyna asked. "Online novel apps are popular now; there's lots to choose from, and you can read them whenever you want," she explained.

Jayden was silent.

"Your silence means you agree." Sellyna tidied up the pile of novels she was carrying. "I'll ask Mr Smith to lend me his mobile."

"Don't you have a mobile phone?" Jayden asked, stopping Sellyna in her tracks.

"Um, no!" said Sellyna. "I'm a young fogey," she said with a little chuckle.

"Tell my dad to give me my mobile phone," Jayden pleaded.

Sellyna was quite surprised. "Ok," Sellyna said as she quickly left the room.

After putting the books away in the reading room, Sellyna met Mr Smith in his office. A member of staff stopped Sellyna at the entrance.

"Is Mr Smith in?" she asked to make sure.

"Yes, Miss. Mr Smith has a visitor; please wait a moment."

Sellyna nodded.

After a long wait, Mr Smith's visitor came out. He was a man with a bushy mustache, and he looked at Sellyna with a penetrating gaze, which made Sellyna afraid to show her face.

"Miss, please come in," said the servant standing at the door of Mr Smith's office.

Sellyna entered the room.

"What is it, my daughter-in-law?" he asked.

"Emm, I've been asked to collect Mr Jayden's mobile phone."

Mr Smith chuckled. "That's a bad call; you shouldn't have called him that formally," he said, commenting on Sellyna's call to her husband.

"Why did he suddenly ask for the mobile phone?" asked Mr Smith as he put the phone on the table.

"I suggested reading him a book so he wouldn't get bored, but he refused when I read him a book from the library." Sellyna was very nervous.

'What book did you bring?' Mr Smith asked curiously.

"A romance novel. ...."

Mr Smith was surprised and laughed. "He doesn't like romance novels,' he said. Ah, he asked you to take his mobile phone. You can read his incoming messages on his phone and any work he has sent to his email. Can you help him?" Mr Smith asked.

Sellyna was silent for a moment, then nodded hesitantly.

"Are you able to work?" he asked again for confirmation.

Sellyna looked up and jumped. "Work?"

Mr Smith nodded. "It looks like he's starting to trust you. How about you become his assistant from now on? You may be familiar with office work."

Sellya was silent for a while. "I... haven't, but I'll learn."

"Good. I like people like you," Mr Smith said, handing Jayden his mobile phone. He will tell you what to do," he said.

Sellyna took the phone and nodded.

"Sellyna, thank you for all your hard work. He's starting to change while you're here; tell me if there's anything you want."

Sellyna nodded, then excused herself and left Mr. Smith's office.

When Sellyna returned to Jayden's room, She found him daydreaming. Instead of hiding under his thick blanket this time, he awaited her arrival.

"Sir!" she called as she quickly dragged a chair over and sat beside Jayden's bed. "Your father gave me your mobile phone. What do I do now?"

"The phone is locked with a code," Jayden said. "Open it with the code...," he said again as he told her the screen lock code on the phone.

"You don't use the face mode lock?" Sellyna asked curiously.

"It's easy for others to open," Jayden said. "Did you unlock it?" he asked again.

"Yes, there are many messages on your phone. Would you like me to open them and read them to you individually?" Sellyna asked curiously.

"Is there a message from Zenayya?" Jayden asked in confirmation.

Sellyna opened the messaging application and searched for Zenayya's name. The messages from that name were numerous and unopened. "There are, and a lot of them."

"Don't open them," Jayden pleaded. "Tell me who the messages are from, one by one!" Jayden asked again.

Sellyna told Jayden the names of the contacts who had sent the messages. "There are some anonymous numbers, sir. Would you like to open them?" Sellyna asked again.

"No need, just delete all the messages without opening them. Including the one from Zenayya."

Sellyna was very surprised. "But sir. It seems that Miss Zenayya is very worried about you."

"I said delete!" Jayden said.

Sellyna still hesitated. "Sir, there may be something important..."

"Delete it!" he ordered again.

Sellyna sighed and quickly deleted the message.

"Are there any missed calls?" Jayden asked for confirmation.

"Plenty, sir." Sellyna recounted the names of the contacts who had called Jayden.

Jayden let out an impolite sigh.

"Um, Mr Smith has asked me to do some extra work, if you believe me."

"What's that?" Jayden asked, turning his head towards the voice.

"To be your assistant."

"Aren't you already my assistant?" he asked back.

Sellyna was silent.

"You're even more of a personal assistant," Jayden said, annoyed.

"Don't you accept that?" Sellyna asked, offended. "You won't be a widower when we get divorced," Sellyna grumbled.

Jayden stared at her blankly. "Don't you want to read an online novel?" Jayden asked to change the subject.

Sellyna exclaimed. "Ok, I'll download the app first. Hmm, what's popular, huh?" Sellyna muttered to herself.

Jayden looked at her curiously. What kind of woman was he looking at? Was she beautiful? From her clear, cheerful voice, Jayden imagined Sellyna's beautiful, enchanting face.

"It's done!" Sellyna exclaimed. "What genre do you like, sir?" Sellyna asked for confirmation.

"Read the most popular ones," Jayden said. He didn't know much about novels.

"Hm. Ok." Sellyna started to open an online novel that was number one; she thought it was popular.

"He entered my body slowly. His length plunged deep into me...."

"What novel are you reading?" Jayden asked with a flushed face.

"Werewolf," Sellyna replied.

"Over, it's too vulgar."

Sellyna frowned, then looked for another novel.

"How old are you?" Jayden asked curiously.

Sellyna looked up, then winced. "I turned twenty this year."

Jayden sighed heavily. "You're still young and innocent. Delete the app; I want you to read the news instead!"

Sellyna nodded, obeying Jayden's order while grumbling. Sellyna did not notice that Jayden smiled slightly at her grumbling.
