Emily sat on her bed, staring blankly at the wall as she considered her options. She had never felt so torn in her life.
Part of her wanted to leave sophia alone, to let her go and move on with her life. It would be easier that way, wouldn't it? No more fighting with her mom, no more sneaking around.
But another part of her refused to give up. She loved Sophia, and she knew that Sophia loved her too. They had something special, something worth fighting for.
As emily sat there, weighing her options, she heard a knock at the door. It was her mom.
"Emily, what's wrong?" her mom asked, concern etched on her face.
Emily sighed, feeling a lump form in her throat. "I don't know, Mom," she said, shaking her head. "I just feel so confused."
Her mom sat down beside her on the bed, putting a gentle arm around her shoulders. "It's okay, sweetie," she said. "I'm here for you. Whatever you want, you can have."
Emily looked up at her mom in surprise. Mummy " you always have the right words to calm me down, I love you mom".
But as she looked into her mom's eyes, she saw something there that gave her hope. Maybe, just maybe, her mom was starting to understand.
"Really, Mom?" Emily asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her mom nodded. "Really, sweetie," she said. "I just want you to be happy."
Emily felt a weight lift off her shoulders as she hugged her mom tightly. Maybe everything was going to be okay after all.
