Emily took a deep breath and tried to explain the situation to Sophia. "I swear, Sophia, nothing happened between me and Christine," Emily said, her eyes pleading for understanding. "She spiked my drink and took advantage of me. I was unconscious, Sophia. I didn't even know what was happening."
Sophia listened intently, her expression softening slightly as Emily spoke. She wanted to believe Emily, but a part of her was still unsure.
"I believe you," Sophia said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I need time to process everything."
Emily's face lit up with hope as she reached out to touch Sophia's hand. But Sophia pulled away, her eyes flashing with a warning.
"Don't touch me," Sophia said, her voice firm but trembling. "Not yet."
Emily nodded, understanding. She knew she had to give Sophia space.
As they parted ways, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling that Emily was telling the truth. But she still needed time to think, to figure out what she wanted.
As she walked home, Sophia's mind was a jumble of emotions. She thought about Emily's words, about the pain and sincerity in her eyes. She thought about Christine's sly smile and the way she had manipulated Emily.
Sophia didn't know what the future held, but she knew one thing - she still had feelings for Emily. And she needed to find out if those feelings were strong enough to overcome the hurt and betrayal of the past few days.
