Sophia's mom finally relented and let Sophia out of the house, allowing her to return to her normal routine. Sophia headed to the library, seeking solace in the familiar surroundings and hoping to clear her head.
As fate would have it, Emily was also at the library, and she spotted Sophia sitting at a table, surrounded by books. Emily's heart skipped a beat as she nervously made her way over to Sophia.
"Hey, Sophia," Emily said softly, trying to sound calm. "Can we talk?"
But Sophia refused to even look at Emily, her eyes fixed on the book in front of her. "I don't want to talk to you," Sophia said coldly, her voice dripping with disdain.
Emily felt a pang of hurt and rejection, but she tried to persist. "Sophia, please," Emily said, her voice cracking with emotion. "Just hear me out."
But Sophia's expression only hardened, her eyes flashing with anger. "You couldn't even wait for me," Sophia shouted, her voice echoing through the library. "Just one week, and you couldn't even fight for me. You went and slept around instead."
