Rhett and Ash stared at the kid in front of them with eyes wide open. They blinked and their faces twisted into a grimace. It was a girl and quite frankly, with her childish stature and looks, she seemed not far from a teenager.
She was clothed in a brown faded tunic, with black leggings that looked fluffy. A frayed cloak hung from her shoulders, its edges like unraveled edges of rags. Then scuffed leather boots covered her feet. She carried a childish face, one that radiated innocence, yet mischief.
"Oh, I thought Ash had been a joker but well, you're a kid after all", said Rhett.
That infuriated the kid. "I'm not a kid, I'm a-".
"Kid!"Rhett broke in and he and Ash had quite a laugh.
The girl stamped her feet in anger and walked around the clock, stamping on the ground the more.
"I'm no kid!", she suddenly spat. "Infact!, I'm King of the bird slayers!".
Ash was halted by that and he stared at her in confusion.
"But you're a girl", said Ash in a mocking voice. "You're 'she', while we are 'he', so you ought to be queen and not king".
That peeved her the more, her face twisting into an expression that looked like a grimace yet it looked like a growl.
"That's why you're still a kid", Rhett added, exchanging mocking glances, together with a grin with Ash.
"I'm no kid!", she blurted. "I'm King!". She moved around the place in circles, hitting her feet on the floor, obviously showing some childish nature - throwing tantrums.
Ash scoffed, a scoff that was mixed with a grin. "I've once heard of bird slayers, what do you guys even do?".
"Slay pigeons?"Rhett replied the question with a question of his own.
That sent the 'men' into another round of laughter.
"Honestly", said Ash. "You're more of 'clown of bird slayers', than king of bird slayers".
Rhett suppressed his laughter and it felt like choking him. He couldn't say what was wrong with him, but now, seeing this 'kid', acting like a bird slayer, he was really acting like a laughing jackass.
The girl sighed and said: "My name is Haicor and I'm one of the last bird slayers, thousands of years ago, we-".
"Cut the story!"Ash interrupted and that made Rhett jolt backwards in laughter.
"Show then tell, my old man used to tell me", Ash continued. "You should be doing that, show us your powers".
The kid, Haicor by name, smiled. "What's with your faces".
Ash and Rhett made no reply but instead exchanged puzzled glances.
"A work of my power", she continued. "I don't only slay birds, but instead I control them".
To Rhett, and even Ash, she was starting to make sense.
Haicor quickly spun back and, spreading her hands in the air, fell off the clock.
"Holy crap!", exclaimed Ash. "She's killed her-".
He was interrupted by a mass multitude of birds going down and soon, dashing upwards back with Haicor, their beaks firmly pinned on the edges of her cloth, taking her up and landing her safely back on the clock.
That left Rhett and Ash in awe but they succeeded in trying not to make it show.
"Indeed you're a bird slayer", said Ash, trying not to sound shocked.
"Of course I am, you bird brain", Haicor said with something that sounded like a giggle.
Ash was angered by that. "I am definitely older than your grandfather!".
Haicor shrugged. "Well, he's dead".
As Ash was about to make another reply, she snapped her fingers and a raven flew downwards to the ground and coming up, held firmly between its beak was the coin. She stretched forth her right hands and opened it, the raven dropped it on her hands and she clenched, quickly moving forward.
"Spin the coin", she said in a commanding voice at Rhett who let out a frown.
"You were the voice telling us to spin the coin and aiming birds at our faces. You are our enemy I guess and now you're telling me to spin the coin.
Why?", Rhett said.
Haicor sighed. "So that it'll make the box appear".
Ash stepped closer to Haicor. "The box that opens the portal?".
"Exactly!" Haicor exclaimed. "The box that opens the damn portal to try slayer's domain".
Rhett and Ash exchanged puzzled glances.
"Why do you want to go to the slayer's domain?", Rhett asked.
"I'm a 'Bird slayer ', duh?".
Ash laughed. "That's a new language".
"Kind of a slang", Rhett said. "It's what the gen Z people say back on earth".
Ash nodded thoughtfully. "Hmmm, languages have greatly changed. From Homer to Shakespeare to duh!".
Rhett burst out laughing. "That's a good one", he said, his hands pointing at Ash.
Haicor was serious now. "You guys have to help me. I've tried to spin the coin but according to a history book I read, it said that only a classified slayer can spin the coin which will bring the box that'll lead to the portal".
"What's classified slayer?",asked Rhett.
"That means the slayer's with a kingdom and a territory, one that is identified by the lord of the Slayer's domain which is Slayerious".
"You're smart", said Ash. "I'll give that to you but the bird slayers are extinct, long ago all killed in the ancient battle of the slayer's. You're definitely the last and I'm quite shocked you live in this bizarre earth".
Haicor smiled. "Well, I guess I'm greatly helped by my powers. My abilities to be precise, it's like a sort of system".
"Same with me", said Rhett. "As I'm the king of the dragon slayers".
Haicor was shocked by that. "Oh, so you're king of the dragon slayers?", she asked.
"Of course I am", said Rhett and pointing to Ash he added. "That's my assistant".
Haicor was on her knees now, her hands in a pleading gesture. "Please will you take me with you back to the slayer's domain, I could become part of you guys, this world is too dark for me to live in".
Rhett and Ash exchanged glances and Ash shrugged.
"She'll be of great help to us I guess".
Rhett looked back at the girl kneeling before him and with a slight hesitation he said with a grin:
"Well you should have politely asked earlier instead of the drama. You can come with us".
