'A challenge?' Jack frowned not liking the idea of that one bit. He wasn't comfortable around this fox woman, as there was something about her. If it were to be an orc or cyclops, then jack would consider.
They were slower than him, as they focused more on strength and stamina than agility. Giving jack an edge over them. But foxes on the other hand were speed type beasts. Known for their high agility, and cunning intellect.
'It's too much of a risk. Her speed alone is enough to finish me off.' Jack shook his head, the odds were against him squaring of with this fox.
"Sunar cram feverdar." Jack calmly spoke shaking his head a bit. It meant am sorry for mistakenly killing one of your kind, but I refuse your challenge.
Staring at him for a while the fox woman's eye widened in surprise. Her expression then changed, to a more exciting yet suspicions one.
"Dumbler?" She asked her tail excitedly wagging about. Like a loyal doggy.
"Fiscer nam bork efdan." Jack honestly spoke in fox language, as per what the system said.
[Am not an enemy here to destroy your land.] Was what jack had asked the system to translate.
'I really need a skill that enables me to understand different races.' Jack thought
annoyed that the all so powerful hades, didn't equip him with a skill or language model, to enable him speak and understand other races.
"Mhmm.." thinking about something, the fox woman lowered her head down a bit. After some seconds, she snapped her finger joyfully. Her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Sinar cad munbar?" She chuckled a bit in a teasing tone.
[She asks if you think you were to fight her.] The system interpreted.
'Wait.. isn't it her I was going to fight?' Jack wondered. When she'd issued the challenge, normally he'd guessed it was her. Considering the rest were weaker, it was a fair match for him.
"Embrae kais nofar, tar suk gue teriba eif." She smiled revealing her sharp canine teeth on display.
[Oh no..] the system said in a dire tone for the first time.
'What? What do you mean by oh no?' His system was a jerk without emotion. But whenever it spoke like this, jack took it to heart.
[As per their rules there are two ways to redeem yourself. The first being beheaded at the town square.] The system stated, causing jack to gulp a bit holding his neck.
'Well that's not good.'
[It gets worse.. the second and last being you have to face the village chief in a life or death battle.] The system stuttered a bit.
'Wait.. that's not so bad. No scratch that, it's great!' Jack smirked, sighing in relief. Hearing the first option made his heart sink. There was no way he'd accept such condition. He'd rather fight to the death with valor and dignity, than to die a pathetic death.
But the second option was undeniably the best. Not only was it beheading his head free. But he was given a chance to fight for his life. Sure he guessed his opponent was strong, but still he had a fighting chance.
"Nam ducq!" Jack shouted accepting the challenge. Nodding, the female fox then flashed a seductive yet deadly sharp look at jack, before walking away.
Soon another fox emerged from the crowd. 'That must be the chief.' Jack thought. It was male with the normal brown fur, and no special distinct features. It had a proud smug smile plastered on his face. His eyes staring down jack like a hawk, watching it's prey.
'Is it just me or does he have the strongest aura in here.' He wasn't imagining things, as he could clearly feel the dominating aura potruding out from this fox.
[Oh no..]
'Are you kidding me, another oh no. What's it this time?'
[It's tail, it has two tails.]
Jack didn't notice it before, but staring at the creature now. He could clearly see two tails standing upwards, softly waving in the air.
[According to my database the number of tails a fox has defines the amount of power contained in them. which means-]
"We're in deep shit." Jack finished the system words. He wasn't given time to react, as the fox appeared besides him sending it's fist to his guts.
'Bam!' Jack was flung back like a rocket, crashing into some empty tables. Stomping it's foot, some chucks of derbies and dust were risen up mida air. With a bang sound the fox body blurred, moving in a straight line fast to jack.
'Boom!' Jack was sent through the wall outwards. Blood flowed from the cut on his head, staining his face a bit. On instinct he immediately left his position, feeling imminent danger approaching. And a small crater was made, as the fox landed at that exact spot.
'I-i can't beat it.' Jack grunted panting heavily. The fox speed was too fast for him too keep up with. And the power it contained was just unbelievable.
'Allocate all the free stat points to agility.' Jack inwardly commanded.
[Are you sure? Even though you do this there's no telling if you'll match it's speed.] The system warned not approving of Jack's reasoning. Yes it would give him more of an advantage, if he distributed all his free stat points to agility. But it wouldn't guarantee he would be on the same speed par, with the two tailed fox.
'Just do it!' Jack yelled, to which the system obeyed distributing the stat points. Boosting his agility to 19 points.
'Now let's try this again.' Jack smirked, feeling the newfound power coursing in his. Running, the difference was clear from his speed gap before and now. He was much faster, moving at a speeding car's pace.
"Num bar ductal." The fox spoke in a deep tone shaking his head. A look of disappointment written across his face.
"Die!" Jack shouted sending his fist out to the fox head. Unfazed the fox moved his head to the side, few seconds before jack's fist reached.
'I-it dodged?' Jack's eye widened in surprise. He didn't expect the fox to dodge that attack with such speed. The creature didn't even struggle, seemingly moving with grace.
[Jack watch out!] The system yelled in his head, snapping him from his shock. He could see the fox claw inches from his guts. Twisting his body he barely avoided it, as the claw grazed him.
'How could I be so naive. This speed is not on the same par as mine.' Jack gritted his teeth at his ignorance. His system had tried to warn him earlier, but he didn't pay attention.
[Jack all hope isn't lost yet.] The system voice cut through his cloud of dark fog in his head.
'But how?' Jack wondered, blocking the fox kick by crossing his arm sending him skidding back. The fox didn't stop though. With two steps it reached jack, clawing jack's back drawing out blood.
[I've noticed an irregularity in the fox speed.] The system stated causing jack to raise a brow.
'What are you talking about?' Jack wondered, confused what his system was saying.
[It's speed, it's not constant. Think about it.. if truly it's speed outmatches you, then you shouldn't be able to keep up with it's movement.] The system said.
'Are you kidding me? Am barely keeping up with it's movement now.' Jack frowned.
[Listen.. there's a pattern to it's attack. Whenever it lands a hit, it's speed seems to strangely increase for about a minute, before it somehow strangely slows down.] The system said making jack's eyes widen a bit.
He didn't notice any pattern at all in the fox movements, as he was just trying to stay alive. He barely keeped up with the two tailed fox speed, and it's power was outrageously stronger than he'd expected.
But now that the system had mentioned it, he did notice something strange. Whenever the fox landed a hit on him he could feel it. It's speed would increase more, making it more harder for him to even see the fox. let alone keep up with it.
Thus leading to the constant hits and claws from the creature. Which seemed to be never ending. But after some while, he'd suddenly be able to follow it's movement. Though little, but still..
'So what are you suggesting?' Jack inwardly asked moving away, as the fox crashed into some barrels outside the local canteen.
[Don't try to fight back.]
'What! Are you kidding me, that's literally suicide.'
[Look, it's basically pointless wasting your stamina on a fight you can't win. At least not now. But with my knowledge we can cheat death again.]
Nodding jack didn't stress it anymore, and listened to his system. Before he'd tried landing a hit on the fox but to no avail. It was like he was trying to catch air, while being slashed by an invincible knife.
"Dias shaya um fatu!" The fox chuckled with a mocking grin, landing a deep claw slash to jack's chest. He was amused how this creature wasn't dead yet, but it didn't matter.
He was enjoying inflicting every ounce of pain to this creature, before he finally ended it's life.
"Noctar fu barum." The fox grinned, barring it's teeth at jack panting for air. His eyes darting to it's claws stained with blood. Specifically jack's blood.
[Jack it's preparing to end this. Get ready.] The system instructed to which jack nodded. Playing weak and defenseless.
Like a rocket the fox blasted towards jack, chucking up pebbles and dust. Reaching it slashed it's claw to jack head, aiming to end it.
Dodging jack evaded the strike to his head, but was pierced in the chest by the fox second claw hand. Pinning the fox hand with one arm, he slammed his hand to the fox chest. But the latter was still fast, shifting it's body so the hit connected to it's shoulder.
'Bam!' The fox was sent skidding back some few meters. It's arm looked to be dislocated from jack's hit, but it didn't care. Attempting to move it's leg it suddenly let out a loud scream, falling to a knee.
"Umlar far duna!?" It screamed in rage staring at his left shoulder. He could see a strange black gooey substance, spreading from his shoulder to his body.
Looking at jack, he could now see his right hand had now turned black. With the strange black substance pulsing with life.
