Back in kilroi town jack had been resting to recover his injuries. He'd expected much worse from these savages, so it was an odd feeling to be treated like this.
His wounds were treated every hour. As per how he knew the time, well he left it to his system.
'She keeps getting creepier each moment.' Jack thought taking a bite from the apple on the wooden tray. The only person that'd ever come into his room, was the black and white furred fox woman.
[She did say she was the previous chief's wife so who knows.] His system sarcastically spoke, earning an eyeing from Jack .
"Yeah it's never going to work. My heart belongs to Kelly, and only Kelly alone. So you and her can put your perverted fantasies aside." He didn't have any personally attached or lustful feelings, towards that female fox. Yes she was seductive and a temptress. But jack wasn't interested, already having just one person he cared about.
'Their food is surprisingly good. Who knew raw lamb meat could taste so good.' Jack smiled throwing a piece into his mouth. He'd been fed thrice a day, with a variety of fruits and lamb meat.
And as promised no local orc, cyclops, or fox had tried to attack him since he'd be there for two whole days.
"I haven't seen any goblins around here system." Jack noticed there wasn't any goblins he could find here, which was strange. Considering his system clearly mentioned goblins, among the races that lived here.
[I concur. My senses clearly informs me of traces of goblins auras here, but it isn't specific. Like it's emitting a strange faint glow.] The system said to which Kyle nodded.
Yes he hadn't been to a lot of houses here not even one. Except his as the new village chief, so there is a possibility they were here. But he just hasn't sighted them yet.
Finishing his meal he then did some light stretches. He was surprised at their level of treating one's body, as his body was in a lot better shape than before.
'I wonder how outside is?' He smirked staring at the door. He hadn't been outside for two whole days, since his fight with Jin. The idea of leaving popped up in his mind, but he dismissed it. Wanting to test out things here in this small town.
[Who's the cocky bastard now?] The system teased making jack chuckle a bit.
"You never seem to surprise me." Jack uttered, doing some light jogging around the room. Even though he was healing he wasn't a hundred percent. His body muscles had suffered a huge toll, so any heavy strain could rip the tissues open again.
'It's crazy how two days could run so fast in the blink of an eye.' There wasn't a sun present here but strangely, jack could tell when it was evening time by the environment. It was usually much very colder and darker in the night, than in daytime.
"Good thing there's some of this here." He thought, staring at the several lit up torches hung at different sections in the room. They were always present here, never burning or dying out. Which made jack wonder, what type of special wood they were made from.
"Ha.. it's almost morning." Jack sighed laying on the bed. There was still some small stingings from pain he suffered, but it wasn't severe or unbearable for him.
'System. If hades isn't your creator, then does that mean there's a higher being that created you. Even higher than hades, a god?' This question had crossed jack's mind since he last met hades. The latter was a terrifying being, ruler of the underworld and the god of death.
His personality basically screams terror to the hearts of all. And his aura alone was enough to kill an entire continent. Which made jack wonder, what hades found so special in him he brought him back.
[Well, am not entirely sure but there is a possibility such is true. I too have had my suspicions, there are beings far greater than the god level. But still, it doesn't change the fact am designed to help my host not the creator.] The system said making jack raise a brow.
"H-how did you know?" He was shocked hearing the system last sentence. As it was a thought that also crossed his mind.
Yes the system was aiding him in battles, but was it it's true intention? He had no idea, what being capable with such power of creating this system intentions were. Hell! he didn't know if it was a good god, or a malovelent one like hades.
So there was always a lingering fear, his system might back stab him in the future.
[Am connected to you so we share the same thoughts. And besides. You don't have to worry, if we eventually meet my creator I won't turn on you.]
'Ok.' Jack nodded a bit relieved. "Am sorry I doubted you." He apologized to which the system accepted.
"But still~ if I do, I will automatically destroy myself before am opportuned with the chance to cause you any harm.] The system said in a grim tone, and jack could tell it was dead serious.
"L-let's put a pin on that for later." Jack awkwardly said. He then discussed other irrelevant stuff with his system. Even trying to teach it some jokes and humor, to which the system failed miserably. Eventually his eyelids became heavy, indicating sleep was around the corner.
'Big day tomorrow.' Jack smiled, thinking of the outcome tomorrow. It was meant to be his inauguration as the new village chief. But still, he had this strange feeling some might go downside.
[Whatever it is we'll be prepared.] The system relayed. His eyes then slowly fluttered shut, with his mind drifting onto who knows where?
-----------------
"Joram~" a faint voice echoed in a dark space.
"Huh! where am I?" Jack wondered floating aimlessly in the vast dark space. He was familiar with this space, as it was where his consciousness was transported to when he died.
"System, system! can you hear me?" He called out but received no response.
'Where am I and why does that voice feels so familiar.' He wondered, trying to remember where he recalled that voice from.
"Joram.." the voice called out once more, shaking the space slightly shifting jack off balance.
'Shit.' Jack inwardly cursed struggling to regain balance. He couldn't feel any power or life radiating from this female voice, unlike hades.
'Swoosh!' A swoosh sound was made startling him a bit. In front white light materialized slowly, creating a visual like projection screen.
"A memory?" Jack wondered staring at the screen. It displayed his days in Agathe, and the times he spent with Kelly.
'But why am I having this dream now? it doesn't make any sense.' Jack frowned, not seeing why he was suddenly reliving his past.
"Huh?" He watched as the view then changed, to a magnificent dark castle in an omnious background. There wasn't any trees whatsoever, and even the air was way chillier here below freezing point.
Torches were lit around the castle, illuminating it a but. Several knights in a strange type of full armor set with scales, were stationed around the castle. Each one holding a weird weapon, unbeknownst to jack.
A chariot then slowly pulled up to the castle, it's horse black as nightmare. the chariot itself was a sombre creature, of dark elements. Crafted like a bat with wings, and adorned with several strange pots containing blood, and other unspoken items.
It's rider was no different. A skeleton in dark gore clothing, with a flame burning it's head.
'Clank!' The door of the chariot was open and out came a man. He was enchanting, having pale face and silver hair falling to his back. He wore a red vest with black coat, black pant with multiple skulls around it. And even his shoe's were a weapon, filled with several spikes.
Making his way in the knights bowed as he passed with confidence, going in to this terrain. His steps were never heard of, even though he didn't try to conceal his prescence.
This castle was the definition of big and spacious. Stretching out very wide, and having more than enough room to spare. It's walls were built from a strange type of block, as several artifacts that would cause one to continuously throw up hung on it.
There were huge windows present here, with long flowing red curtains slightly blocking their existence. The castle was brightly illuminated by the dozens of torches here, along with some precious glowing red stones.
Several servant maids, with the same pale skin bowed their heads as he passed by. He then proceeded up the curved steps, going to a particular room at the end of the hall.
"Sorry am late." He apologized opening the door. There in front sitting on a king sized bed, with blood red bedsheets was a beautiful woman.
She looked to be in her 30's with the same pale face and silver hair. Also dressed in the same black gore outfit.
"Hmph! You deserve to be punished." She scoffed puffing her cheeks a bit.
"Of course my love. Any punishment by you I'll gladly accept." He smiled to which they both chuckled.
"So, where is the little bundle of joy?" He asked excitedly rubbing his hands. Shaking her head, the woman then revealed an item clutched in her arms.
It was no doubt a baby with the same facials and skin tone as them. Except with jet black hair, wrapped in black and gold cloth.
"Am thinking of naming him Joram." She smiled, as they both stared at this baby with starstruck eyes.
"Who are they?" Jack mumbled watching the vision. He'd never recalled this memory before in his life. So, why was it popping up in his head now?
Wanting answers he wasn't opportuned to, as the space suddenly began crumbling.
The projectile cutting off, leaving jack bewildered.
"No, no!" Jack shouted stretching his hand, trying to reach forth but couldn't.
"Argh!" Jack screamed sitting up straight. Looking, he could see he was now back in the room with the fox woman sitting besides him.
'What was that?' He wondered perplexed not knowing to make of that vision.
"Are you alright? I've been calling you for almost an hour now." She worriedly asked seeing jack sweating all over.
"Am fine. W-what day is it?" He asked.
"It's been two days now. Today's the day of your inauguration." She said to which jack nodded.
