Chereads / The Undead system / Chapter 29 - A challenge

Chapter 29 - A challenge

'How could it skip your database? You're the one who told me to come here damnit!' Jack telepathically retorded. When his system had asked him to come here, it didn't mention anything about a currency or the use of it.

Enders had a currency they used which was coins. Bronze being the lowest, followed by silver then gold. There was talk of implementing new currencies but it never happened, due to other important matters. And when coming here his mind never went to that area. He was famished, the only thought on his mind was food. And it was his system that'd asked him to come here, so he guessed it had some connections and had magically sorted things out.

[Am not some kind of genie that magically makes stuff happens you know? I simply provided an option, which you blindly followed. That's on you.] The system coldly said in Jack's head making his eyes twitch.

'A-are you putting the blame on me now you piece of crap!' Jack inwardly yelled in anger.

"Miran der crale!" The cyclops angrily spoke with a vein bulging on it's forehead. The other foxes and orcs at the counter left, sensing what was about to occur.

[Am just stating the obvious. And you're mistaken who the piece of crap between us is.] The system calmly spoke taking jack by surprise.

'Did you just say something sarcastic.' Usually the system spoke in a monotone voice. Cold and without any emotion whatsoever. Neither male or female, but a systematic voice integration speech. But now, jack could tell the system's speech pattern had changed a bit to a more humane one.

[As an artificial intelligence am bound to evolve myself to be compatible for the host.]

'There's the cocky jerk I knew.' Jack chuckled. He could see the eyes of the locals staring at him, and it didn't take a genius to put two and two together.

'Bam!' A fist was sent to his head, sending him flying back into the wooden door. There was a loud creak sound, and one had expected the door to give out but it didn't.

[-4hp]

[-2 body state]

The system notification flashed before jack's eyes, while he coughed up fresh blood.

"There goes my chance of blending in." Jack muttered. He'd tried to avoid attention and blend in, but unfortunately luck wasn't on his side.

"Roar!" The cyclops let out a powerful roar running towards jack. It wasn't that fast, as the latter could keep up with it's movement. But jack could tell it had an insane amount of strength, as the floor testified with each step it took.

'Bam.' Jack dodged the cyclops fist, which punched the door creating a fist sized hole. Clenching his fist tightly he punched back without restraint.

'Bang!' A gunshot sound went off, as the cyclops was sent skidding back to the counter.

'Woah! Did I just do that?' Jack excitedly smiled staring at his arm. He knew he was stronger reaching level 7, but he never knew how much. As he hadn't tested his new stats yet.

'I can get used to the feeling of this.' Jack grinned, loving the feeling of becoming powerful.

"Roar!" The cyclops let out a power roar, shattering some glass cups on the counter. Enraged, it carried a round wooden table tossing it to jack.

"I wonder if.." seeing the incoming table jack didn't dodge it. Instead he clenched his fist, punching forward as the table inched closer. The outcome was clear as the table was split in two, like hot knife through butter.

'Shit.' Jack cursed seeing the cyclops fist just inches from him. He was distracted by the table, and the cyclops took advantage. With no other option jack raised his hands to block.

'Bam!' The attack connected sending some shockwaves. It felt like a speeding truck rammed into his whole body, which was sent skidding back.

[-3hp]

'Even though I blocked, it still managed to have an effect on my hp and body.' Jack frowned looking at the cyclops a bit shocked.

'Such insane strength.. I like it.' A crazed grin formed on jack's face. Not waiting he shot out towards the cyclops. Reaching it he dodged it's fist with ease, landing a punch to it's rib.

'Crack.' A crack sound was heard, followed by the creature wincing in pain. The cyclop then attempted to slam jack with both it's hand, but jack was faster. Evading the strike and performing a series of strikes of his own.

It took about a couple dozens of strikes, but the cyclops was eventually knocked out by jack.

"Phew.. that was fun." Jack let out a light sigh. A mixture of excitement and astonishment on his face, staring at the beaten up cyclops buried under a pile of wood.

[I never thought you had it in you.] The system said with a hint of surprise in it's tone.

'Screw you.' Jack scoffed puffing a bit.

[That's fair.. but how do you plan to take care of the rest locals here?] Jack's eye widened in shock hearing his system words.

'I totally forgot about them.' When fighting the female cyclops he didn't know why or how, but he was fully engrossed in it. Like a whole new feeling was riding in him.

He could tell it wasn't like before when the system took control. He could still feel the system and access his skills, but this was different. The thrill and the adrenaline, coursing through his veins. The hits and wounds he sustained were intoxicating. Like the feeling of a deranged serial killer, on a rampage.

'I guess I'll just have to fight my way out like always.' He thought. And he could feel the strange sensation in him. Almost like the constant obsession, of wanting to end something life.

'Is this his curse or what?' Knowing hades the god of death, and ruler of the underworld was responsible for his reincarnation. He guessed the latter must've added some of his powers to the system. It was just a theory but still, it wasn't entirely ruled out.

[Wrong. Though hades is responsible for bringing you back to life I can assure you he's not my creator.] The system said, making the atmosphere more tense.

'B-but how do you know? You literally said you don't know who your creator is. He's a god, I mean can't he basically do the impossible?' Jack couldn't believe what the system was saying. Everything in the system was related to hades nature, even his skills.

[Though I do not know my creator, I can feel a connection. like a spark if within range, just like you.] The system uttered leaving jack more perplexed. The whole thing was just confusing to him.

"Growl!"

"Nam uc barc"

"Shiva negram, Shiva negram!"

Jack's attention was pulled by several growls from the crowds of carnivores. He could tell they were pissed from the look on their faces, and he didn't blame.

"Well.. come on! I've already been dead once." Jack yelled not afraid.

'Somehow I can tell my personality is changing.' He could feel it. Just like the system stated before, his former personality was changing.

Inching closer, the group of angry locals flashed their claws and weapons at jack. The first to strike was an orc. This was much taller than the last, about 6ft5 some inches above jack. It was fast swinging down a wooden club.

Dodging, jack punched the orc's chest without holding back. Sending it back into the crowd.

[Congratulations you have successfully killed an orc]

[Rewards will be distributed soon..]

The system notification popped up in his view.

'I killed it?' Jack didn't expect just a single punch from him to kill the creature. But the system clearly stated it was dead.

'Swoosh!' A sword cut his leg, followed by a spear plunged to his chest. Grabbing the spear he pulled forth the fox man. Using his legs to deliver a kick, which the latter dodged.

Unfazed, jack followed up the momentum by throwing the spear like a javelin. It shot fast, cutting through the air and piercing the fox shoulder. Pinning it to the wall.

'I don't want to kill them.' Jack fought the urge in him to end their lives. He'd already killed one of them, and he wasn't stupid to increase the numbers. He was basically outnumbered!

Speeding towards the nearest orc he swiftly knocked it out, going to the next. The foxes were surprisingly almost on the same speed as him. So they were a bit of a headache to deal with.

"Sopar!" A feminine voice yelled out from the crowd. The charging locals immediately stopped in their tracks, adhering to the voice.

'Could it perhaps be their leader?' Jack thought, feeling the aura excluding from this creature more powerful than the rest. Looking he could see a female fox woman, putting on a strange purple dress of better quality. She had long black hair, with her two black and white pointy fox ears. Unlike the others her fur was a mixture of black and white.

The crowd gave way for her to pass, as she walked elegantly with pride. Her eyes darting a mischievous glint approaching jack.

"Nefra sep ucktar?" She said with a light smile.

'System, intepret.'

[She says you aren't from around here. Are you?]

'Well how do I tell her this was an accident? You do know how to speak fox right?' Jack asked, his eyes locked with the fox woman.

[Of course! What do do take me for?] His system retorded. It's pride insulted by this dimwit host.

[Seclar rue tambarn]

"Seclar rue tambarn." Jack calmly said. Causing the fox woman eyes to light up in surprise hearing him.

"Escar rin dar cote. Imbra.." she appeared behind jack, her claws pressed against his neck. The latter had paid full attention on her, but still she was now behind him.

'Her speed is terrifying.' Jack thought his senses on high alert. He could tell she had a single tail like the rest, but she was on a different level from them.

"Nimar sue uc fardun." She charmingly said in a seductive tone, calmly appearing some few meters in Jack's front.

"Nam du ucktar!" She yelled pointing her finger at jack.

'System what's she saying?'

[Apparently she's issuing out a challenge.] The system relayed, causing Jack's face to go pale.
