Chapter 9 - The Scarlett's Demoness Attack

When the other greenscale reavers witnessed one of their own getting killed, they screeched and rushed at Miles en masse.

Miles' eyes twitched and his heart pounded. However, with the perfect control over his cells, he controlled his heart beat to slow down.

Immediately shuffling backward, he licked his lips as he scanned for potential kills to absorb from.

Although he had just a bit of experience in close combat during the training as a soldier since being a soldier in earth mainly involves shooting, with his talents he could control his strength perfectly which gave him an edge during combat.

He drew a short blade from his waist—barely fifteen centimeters—and waited.

Seeing the nearest monster lunged at him, Miles smirked. Monsters are monsters after all, they possess almost the same attack patterns and don't learn from their mistakes.

The moment it was just fifteen centimeters away from him, Miles reacted and slashed his blade at its exposed throat.

"Slash!"

"Rooooar!"

Its throat was sliced, leaving it's head dangling by the spinal cord and half cut lungs. Blood poured across the asphalt in a steaming pool.

Wasting no time, Miles changed his grip on his blade into a reverse grip and placed it across from him as another Greenscale jumped at him.

The monster jumped right into the pointy tip of the blade, as the kinetic energy pushed into through the entire blade.

"Bam!" "Bam!" "Bam!"

Miles took three steps backwards as the kinetic energy from the lunge pushed him backwards but he wasted no time to absorb all its genetic nutrients before throwing its body away.

A faint ripple of genetic nutrient coursed through his body again as his cells frantically absorbed them.

He immediately felt his muscles, flesh and bones grow a little sturdier.

Suddenly, a shrill cry—almost like a wounded cat, yet also disturbingly akin to a baby's wail—resounded from one of the remaining monsters.

Suddenly more greenscale reavers converged on him. Miles took a breath, forcibly slowing his racing heart. He had the battle smarts from his previous life, but his underdeveloped body lagged behind his intentions.

Then it struck without warning.

"Crunch!!!"

A jawful of razor-sharp teeth sank into his thigh, sending a paralyzing jolt of pain through him. Another monster leaped for his neck. Danger closed in on all sides.

Gritting his teeth, Miles raised an arm to shield his throat. It was better for the creature to latch onto his forearm than his windpipe. Its teeth slashed through his flesh like butter.

"Die!" Miles roared, slamming his forearm—and the beast—against the wall of a building close to him with all the strength he could muster.

"Bang!"

Bones met concrete wall and with a sickening crash, it's head shattered. The Greenscale Reaver squeal died in its throat as it was crushed.

Miles quickly stabbed his blade into the skull of the greenscale reaver biting at his thigh.

A squelching noise sounded out as the greenish monster screamed out in pain.

"Screeeee!"

It immediately started thrashing as it died, expanding Miles wounds, making his blood splash every where.

But during this exact moment, another monster, sensed an opening, leaped, jaws spread wide enough to swallow Miles's head. His pupils constricted.

"Slash!"

Amother blade suddenly slashed at a different angle as it sliced through the body of the Reaver into two. Chris rushed in, trembling with adrenaline, but determined nonetheless. He saw the creature he had sliced into two still moving, he was shocked and immediately stomped at the monster on its head repeatedly.

"Die! Die! Die! You fvcking beast!" Chris shouted as though it wasn't dead enough.

After several frantic strikes, the creature skill finally turned into mashed blood.

Chris stood panting, face white as a sheet. This chaos was too much for the sixteen-year-old to handle. Turning, he saw the cuts and bruises on Miles's body and gasped.

"Miles! Are you alright?"

Miles felt the jaws of the greenscale reaver slacken from his thighs and grabbed it, absorbing it's entire genetic nutrient in a second before tossing it toe the side.

His blood stained the pavement, but thanks to basic Cell Manipulation, the gashes in his arm and calf had already begun to close.

Outwardly, he looked like he was on his last legs, but inwardly, the genetic energy he had absorbed from the creatures had strengthened his physique to an astonishing level.

Even his wounds were knitting together at an accelerated pace.

"No problem!" Miles forced a confident grin, though pain still gnawed at his nerves. It wasn't anything he hadn't experienced.

At last, the Enforcers arrived, clearing out lingering civilians and spreading across the street with practiced efficiency.

"Should we leave?" Chris asked, voice wavering.

"No need," Miles replied, carefully scanning the area. "It's just this one rift. Now that the Enforcers are here, we're much safer."

Suddenly, an explosion rang out from the skies, attracting the attention of everyone, including Chris and Miles.

A curvy figure rose to the skies like a rocket. Scarlet flames beneath her feet as they propelled her forwards like a missile.

And extremely scorching heat swept out through a hundred meter radish and even the darkened skies above seem to clear out as the heat evaporated the darkness skies.

In that instant, a massive clouds of flames erupted from Scarlett's body as her hair burst out in scarlet flames, defying gravity and floating upwards.

Her eyes blazing with red flames as her energy wave erupted to the maximum.

Citizens with lesser will power felt weak in the legs as the pressure descended on them as though gravity had increased all of a sudden.

"Scarlet Moon Slash!"

A soft voice said softly. However, an horrifying pressure spread out like a tsunami.

Suddenly, the Scarlett Demoness swung her two blades and the skies seem to tremble as a terrifying aura spread.

Flames suddenly condensed before her like a sea as they formed the shape of a massive scarlet Half-moon.

In ten next second, the scarlet half-moon flew towards the hands holding the gate, slicing their fingers off in an instant.

"HOWL!!!"
