Chapter 7 - Dimensional Rift, Creature Invade!

"Space destabilization field." Scarlett's face turned grim.

Before the other students could be pulled into the Orb, Scarlett arrived just in time, softly sending the students away from the effect of the suction force with her palm strikes.

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"

The other soldiers also assisted in a similar manner.

In the next moment, an explosion rocked the entire district like a grenade as the spatial Orb exploded, splashing the blended blood, body and bones to all corner.

Suddenly, the sky above the National Evolutionary Research Center building seem to darken and a small crack a few hundred meters away from the National Evolutionary Research Center.

"Evacuate the students to the Underground bunkers, now!"

She commanded the soldiers. Turning towards her squad, she commanded.

"Scarlet team, spread out!"

As she said this, Scarlett raised her head up and watched the crack with a cold expression. Her heart, slow as she gently withdrew two blades from her back.

Her muscles trembled in a particular frequency and immediately, the two blades in her grip burst into scarlet flames as the surrounding temperature increased drastically.

An extremely murderous aura burst out like a tsunami and even the dust around her didn't seem to have a single courage to float.

This situation remained for a few secconds before the crack started repairing itself.

The tensed soldiers heaved a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the crack didn't seem to lead to any dimension. Otherwise, dimensional beasts would have poured in like a flood.

However, Scarlett and her squad remained steadfast.

Suddenly, a gigantic pair of greenish hands, similar to that of a human suddenly grabbed at each side of the crack as though trying to open a door.

The hand was actually able to grab at a spatial tear without getting injured.

It was definitely a high-tier dimensional creature!

Everyone who noticed this breakdown was alarmed at first before breaking out into a panicked frenzy!

On the streets, both Chris, Miles and the others nearby the Evolution Facility heard the explosion and were shocked.

They hadn't even realized what was happening when the sky darkened as the nearby light was sucked into a crack which had suddenly appeared in space!

"What is happening? Is the space shaking? I thought there was a Space Stabilization Satellite was protecting this area?" Chris asked, his voice trembling.

No matter how many times they had learned about it in school, he was petrified, this being his first time seeing the actual thing. No one knew what kind of creatures were lurking behind the crack, waiting for the slightest opportunity to pounce out. It could be the devil himself, for all we knew, coming to destroy the world.

The rift was expanding ever so slowly. It was only about half a meter long and thirty centimeters wide, but the potent disorientation from something so alien in nature had the people on the road screaming their heads off, leaving their cars behind and running for their lives.

"Does this mean…" Before Miles could even complete his sentence, an alarm on their wristwatches started blaring loudly.

[Warning! Warning! A space rift is opening in a hundred meters. Unidentified dimensional monsters are about to appear!]

A dimensional rift?!

This was the culprit! The thing responsible for the fall of mankind, the reason humankind had fallen from the dominant force of nature to the bottom tier on the food chain.

If it was simply the earth and it's beasts along with other mysterious creatures evolving, it would have been much easier to deal with. However, the spacial dimensional rifts leading to other dimensions randomly appearing all over the world at the same time wiped out most of the population.

If it wasn't for the development of the Space Stabilization Satellite, thickening the fabric of space and making it invulnerable to dimensional gates, all of humanity would have been wiped out even after the creation of the Cell Ignition Serum.

"Hurry! Let's run to the school!" Chris grabbed Miles by the collar and pulled.

But Miles did not budge.

Realizing his friend had become motionless, Chris turned around, his face crumpled in fear and distress, forehead lined with beads of cold sweat.

"Miles! Why aren't you running!? Hurry, we have to go before things get worse!" Chris babbled, not waiting for Miles's answer, ready to flee!

Miles, on the other hand, was stunned as he saw a message appeared before him.

[Side quest: Kill 3 Greenscale Reaver]

[Reward: Memory fragment]

He didn't expect something like this to appear all of a sudden. He hadn't even completed the first mission when this one suddenly jumped on his laps.

However, he quickly came back to reality as he knew this wasn't the tone to be stunned. He felt his brain going to overdrive as he thought of a solution.

If they ran towards the school's direction, it would take sometime to reach there. It was enough for what ever was coming to catch up to them. But if they ran towards the Research Center, they would get there in the shortest amount of time.

In addition, there was a nuclear bunker in governments owned buildings like the Research center. Hence, their safest bet was the Research center.

"We can't go to the school. We don't know where the tear is exactly, so the safest place right now is the research institute!" Miles reckoned.

Chris was stunned for a moment but quickly regained his composure. "We have other classmates in there too, goddamnit! Hurry, let's go back!"

The guy had always been like that. Always trying to save others when he couldn't even save himself.

"Let's go!" Miles started to run. Although his body was currently weak, the rush of adrenaline was making him brim with energy.

They turned around the corner of an alley and out into the main road. The drivers in the cars were honking at each other. Being so busy trying to get away, they rammed into each other in uncoordinated panic, causing traffic to come to a standstill.
