Chapter 8 - Pervert system much?

"Hey! Didn't you hear me talking to you?" Ilya yelled.

Alfred smiled and opened his mouth to speak. "What do you want, pretty lady?"

His voice was low as he spoke and Ilya could feel her face heating up.

'What is all this? Did he always have a nice voice?'

She cleared her throat. "Why would I want anything to do with you?"

Alfred rolled his eyes. "I really don't like this girl.." he muttered but Ilya couldn't hear him.

"So, why are you talking to me? I'm very sure it's not because my voice has a pleasing effect on you."

Ilya parted her lips in shock. She had known Alfred ever since they were young and not once had she noticed this behavior in him. But what she didn't know was the fact that because he didn't remember anything, he had no idea how he behaved.

She narrowed her brows as she stared at the boy who had a frown on his face.

"Is he frowning because of me?"

Meanwhile, Alfred continued staring at the screen which only he could see in anger.

[Talk to a girl?: 34%]

"Have I not spoken to a girl already, why the hell is it still at 34 percent?"

[Error!!]

"Why does the system even need me to talk to a girl? That's just being perverted!"

"Better talk to me now or I'm leaving immediately!" Alfred declared.

Ilya gasped at his words but Alfred could care less.

[Have an healthy breakfast: Task failed]

[Talk to a girl?: 35%]

[Error!]

[Error!]

[Host is required to talk to the girl, not frighten her!]

[Percentage for the completion of daily tasks, "talk to a girl?" will not increase until Host has successfully calmed down subject, "Ilya" so she is no longer frightened]

"What the fuck! This system is definitely weird, considering the feelings of a girl before me. You shouldn't be called the gangster system but the pervert system!" He yelled in his mind.

He turned his face towards Ilya and realized that she did actually look scared, although that could have been a facade, there was no sure way of knowing and furthermore, the system had recognized or rather acknowledged her fear.

With a sigh, Aflred stood up and walked away. Of course, this action did not go unnoticed by Ilya who gave him a questioning look.

"Follow me, I dont wanna talk in here.." he finally said, annoyed that he had to go through the pain of talking to her.

Ilya followed him, not because he was polite or because she had anything to say to him, she had originally planned on mocking him but his behaviour made it impossible for her to. So, she at least wanted to find out whatever he had to say.

Alfred's footsteps were heavy, and his face had a scowl that seemed to be permanent, at least, it looked that way, making a lot of people stay away from him as he walked. Normally, people stayed away from him because he was considered bad luck but occasionally, he had people who made it their life goal to annoy him. But, weirdly enough there was none of that today.

"Curse you, system! Curse you a hundred years to come!"

Thirteen years ago, the world changed. It didn't change with the arrival of superpowers or invading aliens. It changed with the arrival of something that Earth already owned. The moon. The moon didn't get bigger or shrink in size, nor did it start moving closer to Earth. No! The one thing that happened to the moon was the change in colours or rather the gaining of a new colour. The moon had always been seen on earth as white but on that day, the moon acquired a new colour. It turned black, and this scenario was all over the world. Naturally it had ushered in various speculations with a lot of people claiming it was the signal of an apocalypse phase or some others saying the world was coming to an end, and the scientists saying the moon wasn't black but it was an eclipse.

An eclipse happening all over the world at once? They also claimed that it must have been something that occurs only every two thousand years as no one from two thousand years ago was alive. The people ate up the explanations and continued their lives until they noticed that the moon was still black and people's behavior started to change. Humans suddenly became more wicked, no it wasn't wickedness. They had always had this side to them but a lot of them were able to lock it up due to certain reasons. The people who embraced this dark side were tagged as criminals so, it was safe to say almost every human was acting like a criminal until suddenly the moon regained its original colour and everything became normal again. But this development was short-lived as the moon became black again.

Alfred and Ilya arrived at a restaurant outside the school and as they settled down, a waiter came to attend to them.

Alfred looked at the man in white and blue Jean who walked towards him, and he could feel his heartbeat increasing. Although he had lost his memories temporarily, he was aware that he had no money to pay.

He checked the status of his daily task and sighed.

'It's progressing now but it's very slow. I wonder how talking to a girl will be beneficial to me, but whatever, I'll make use of this opportunity that the universe has given me. Afterall, a hungry man is an angry man, coupled with the fact that I can't remember Jack, I feel very irritated."

"What would you like to order?"

"I'll have whatever she's having.." Alfred pointed to Ilya.

She was gobsmacked, Alfred was buying her lunch? He was a broke person so how would he be able to pay? She was just about to decline when Alfred spoke.

"She is paying after all.."

"Son of a…"

Alfred : )
