The Past
As Noelle walked beside Bryan, her senses heightened. The council's decision to investigate Bethany was a small victory, but it did little to alleviate her unease. Bethany wouldn't retreat quietly, and Noelle could feel the storm brewing on the horizon.
After leaving the chamber, Bryan insisted they visit the training grounds to check on the Lycans' preparations. The pack had to be ready for any threats—external or internal. Noelle wasn't sure what role she'd play in this, but she couldn't ignore the weight of her responsibilities.
As they approached the grounds, a familiar figure darted out from behind a training dummy—a lanky boy with messy dark hair and wide, fearful eyes. It was Mikey, a young Omega who usually worked in the castle kitchens.
At first glance, Noelle thought nothing of it. Then his face drained of color as their eyes met.
