THUD! THUD! THUD!
Gym Bro: "Yo Kairos! Me and the guys are heading out. You coming?"
Kairos Stopped hitting the Heavy Bag and grabbed a towel to wipe up his sweat.
Kairos: "Nah, I'm going to keep at the Heavy a bit longer. Thanks though."
The Gym Guys walked out the door saying bye to Kairos. About twenty minutes later, Kairos was changed and out the door. He pulled his phone from his pocket and made a call.
Kairos: "Hey Mom, I just got out of the gym. I'm headed home now. Let me know if you want me to fix you anything when I get back. Alright I love you, bye."
He sent the voicemail then turned off his phone and put it in his pocket. He lifted his arms above his head and thought about what should make his mom for dinner. 'Maybe I could do Lasagna? She really liked it last time. I know mom will be really hungry tonight, so I'll make double.' Just then a girl bumped into him on the sidewalk.
Lady: "Ah! I'm sorry I didn't mean to bump into you!"
The girl looked innocent in the eyes and yet somewhat sad as well.
Kairos: "Tch. Yeah whatever, just watch where you're going next time."
She scurried off in a hurry after what he said. He thought of her the rest of the way home. 'Damn she was cute, those soft eyes and that silky blonde hair.' He ended up home in about 10 more minutes. He didn't see his mom's car in the driveway.
Kairos: "Weird, mom's car isn't there. Maybe it got repossessed again."
He quickly hopped up the stairs to the door. As he grabbed the knob, he realized the door was unlocked. As he opened it, he saw the place was unusually clean. Everything except a few needles on the floor.
Kairos: "Dammit Mom! You're using again!"
His anger fled his face and was replaced with confusion when he saw the couch absent of his mother. He ran to her room and saw it was tidy like someone just cleaned it. The bed was made and everything was dusted. Everything was fixed except the closest doors. Which were pushed open and had a panel missing inside.
Kairos: "She was hiding drugs in a secret compartment in her closest. No wonder she wouldn't let me near it…"
He turned to see a note addressed to him on her dresser. He walked over and picked it up. It read,
Kairos Mom: "My Dearest Kairos,
I'm Sorry. I broke my one promise to you. I told you I'd get better for you after your father passed. I Just couldn't handle it anymore; I couldn't handle the stress. I met someone today that said he could take me somewhere I wouldn't be judged or disappoint anyone else ever again. Please understand Kairos, I'll always love you but, you're better without me around you. You'll always be in my heart Kai Kai.
Love,
Mom"
His hands became shaken and his breathing erratic. Tears fell from his eyes onto the note. Staining it with sorrow.
Kairos: "D-Dammit Mom. First Dad had to leave us, now you leave me too? WHY DAMMIT."
He slammed his hands down onto the dresser letting more tears roll off him. He began tearing the room up. Ruining the bed and ripping drawers out of the dresser. He punches a hole through the false wall in the closest where she hid her dark secret. Suddenly a large crash and bang was heard in the living room. He walked out yelling at the unknown.
Kairos: "I swear to God I don't have time for people to be breaking into my house. Get the hell out now before I make you!"
He was stopped in his tracks seeing a towering figure with a large, hooded cloak. They stared each other down trying to assess who was going to make the first move. Kairos moved sudden but quick, overturning a table and kicking it towards the creature. It smashed through it and began pursuing Kairos through the living room. It swung its arm at him, but he ducked under it and threw a massive hook to its abdomen. Kairos felt a crunch in his hand, and he pulled it away as his knuckles gushed blood. It was like punching solid steel.
Kairos: "Shit! What the Hell are you!"
The creature screamed at him and threw him backwards. Kairos stood and grabbed the coat rack. He broke it over his knee and stabbed the thing in the shoulder, but it kept charging at him. It swung its arm at him again, throwing Kairos against the wall. Kairos had blood run down his face and bloody his eyesight. He sat there and wondered, 'Why isn't anyone here to help me? Won't some "Guardian Angel" come and save me?' He laughed at that thought, coughing up blood. He slowly started to stand, putting a hand on his knee to stabilize himself.
Kairos: "Kairos have you forgotten already? You're all alone. No Mom, No Dad, No Guardian Angels…. Heh If that is the case, then I'll be my own Guardian Angel and save myself. Because that's all I have is MYSELF!"
After finally standing he started grinning at the creature and shouted at him.
Kairos: "SO, TRY TO KILL ME IF YOU CAN! FUCKING BASTARD!"
He reared back his fist and focused as much power as he could into it. The beast charged him screeching as he did the same and yelled back. He threw the biggest, strongest, and hardest jab he could right at the creature. It began crushing into the things face. He could feel it caving around his knuckles. The Thing went flying to the ground as his own arm began oozing blood from several cuts. It hangs limp as if it couldn't handle the force of the jab it carried. He huffed and puffed with exhaustion as blood dripped from his face. He walked over to it and started kicking it. After he noticed movement, he began stomping its head in.
Kairos: "Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!!"
The final stomp left nothing left of the creature's head. He saw the front door creek open as the girl from before in the street walked in.
Kairos: "It's... it's you... the girl... the pretty one"
Kairos noticed her face go white before his view changed to the ceiling after collapsing to the ground.
Kairos: "Mom…"
