Chapter 6 - Family History

Lily could feel someone running their finger along her nose. Peeking through her lashes she saw Max laying on the bed with an amused smirk on his face.

Giggling she sits up to stretch out feeling all the stiff muscles being loosened. Her head is still groggy and hazy with last nights events still elusive to her. Max hands her a cup of coffee just the way she liked it. "Mmmmm thank you. Food smells good what did you make?" stomach growls at the smells awakening the hunger in her so he gives her a plate that was on a tray next to the bed. "Eggs, bacon, and toast it was what you had in your fridge, I hope it's okay," he said digging in to his own plate. We ate in relative silence and her brain slowly starts to catch up to last night's events. Lily's gaze shifts to the left wrist which is now sporting a detailed blue band with Max's full name being linked together with her name and ancient symbols inter-connecting the ribbons that shimmered in the light as she looked over at Max's wrist and his was identical.

"What happened last night? How did I get this? Did you do the mark with out my consent?" I ask pointing at my wrist.

"You don't remember? You grabbed my hand last night to help me stand up, but than bands of blue light came out of our closed hands. The light connected than settled into the bands on our wrists. Your eyes were glowing blue giving off a strong energy, but Stryder didn't freak out about it. The energy settled and you passed out. I didn't want to leave you without talking to you first so I watched over you last night," Max said being completely honest. *Strong energy? Beams of light? What in the name of the Goddess is happening to me?* She thought wondering if this was a good or bad thing.

"I didn't know I could do that. The only gift I've ever had was clairvoyance, and its not always reliable. Maybe if I can open the box I received yesterday I can find some answers," Lily said to Max setting her plate down. She got up moving to the table to try an open it, but there didn't seem to be an way to pen it. Running her hand over the image her finger snagged on something drawing blood. The blood landed on the image and the box began to move and shift with two doors popping open. Inside was a medium sized book about 2" thick, a bag with a moon crystal necklace, a ceremonial athame, and a diagram of the an Alpha Pair's family tree. I reached for the book while Max looked at the family tree chart.

The book was very old and I was afraid to open it because I didn't want to tear it, but the pages were rather thick so I flipped through them. Each chapter was about a different species and it's basic origins, but deeper in the book the pages seem older, harder to read. One page was sticking out because it folded outward, flipping to it back she read a very detailed passage, "....with every species an Alpha Pair starts it's bloodline and develops its own culture. Most have forgotten the old ways but, every 5000 years the Ultimate Pair is born to lead a new generation..."

"Lily, look at this is your family tree!" Max exclaims excitedly. "It saying here that you came from one of the smaller packs. It's name has been torn from the record here, but what is on here is your parents. Scarlett and Oran Wolfman, last alpha pair and than there's you." Closing the book and look over at the family tree that Max is holding an there written is her name, Liliana Diana Wolfman. There was a space next to her mother's a symbol drawn in that was unfamiliar.

Looking at the top of the page she noticed the top pair Marak and Solas Wolf D'abord. Next to their name it said Original Pair. *So they must have been the first Pair for werewolves.* Lily set the family tree down and examined the moon stone necklace. They felt warm, shining on their own. Setting them down picking up the ceremonial athame the wolves carved into the hilt with sapphires in the eyes of the wolves. It was beautiful so she carefully set the back into the box. She ran her hand over the book in then set it back in the box along with the diagram of the family tree and closed it. Her mind was spinning with all this new information.

*Wow to find out that I actually am from a wolf pack, and from the original bloodline of werewolves to be precise. My real question is why were they killed with no trace of the fact they exist? And why was I left alone in the woods?* Lily pondered while she put the box in a chest at the foot of her bed. Max watched her patiently while she processed. He got up walking over to her as she stood in front of the window.

"You know this doesn't change how I feel about you. Your still my intended mate and that family tree just proves that you are a princess. My parents couldn't even dispute this thought they my try to. These bands are old magic that hasn't been used in a very long time, and finding your mate probably activated your dormant powers you weren't even aware of. Hell, I didn't even know werewolves could control energy like you showed, but I'm proven wrong," Max said. She always felt so safe with his arms wrapped around her.

"So should we play hooky today?" She look at the clock it is almost 10am and she still had some paperwork to do that she wouldn't mind skipping. "I've got a few ideas get dressed," he said slapping my ass.

While I'm busy Max cleans up our dishes and makes the bed for me. I come out dressed, hair up and in a bun with light makeup. "Is everything alright? You seem a bit on edge," I said. He turns kissing her full lips. Fireworks explode and heat spread throughout her body instantly leaning into Max pressing their bodies close. Lily never thought to understand or feel the all consuming passion people talk about having with each other, but she was experiencing it first hand and it's explosive.

"Let's go," His tone husky taking her breath away. "Okay."
