Chapter 8 - Avoiding Trouble

They were seated at a table outside near the back garden that was even more magical to see. Lily was smiling everywhere she looked. "How did you find this place?" she asked him. Happy that she liked the place he said, "When I was on my way back from University I stopped hear thinking i had gotten lost. Emily, the owner, came out seeing me look a bit lost and offered me a meal. I wasn't hungry, but she wouldn't take no for an answer. She brought me inside showed me the place than sat me down right where we are sitting with a huge plate of food," he laughed thinking about the memory. Lily was smiling as well seeing him speak so fondly of the older woman.

"Eating my meal I was brought back to when granny was alive and we'd go to her house and have her cooking. One of the few times Alisa and Phil never argued. Having that feeling of home made me want to share that with you," Max said as two plates came out to us. A rose` wine was set next to me while an ale was set next to his plate. "We didn't order," Lily said sounding a confused.

"Emily probably put all her favorites on that plate so don't be shy and try it all. The gut pain later will be worth it," Max said as he began eating his plate of food. And he wasn't kidding this was absolutely fantastic the flavors bring her back to home cooked meals with her birth parents. The biscuits reminding her of her mother's cooking.

Alisa and Tanner happen to walk into the place, Alisa demanding, "Hey what's it going to take for someone to serves us?" One of the waitress hurrying to them asking if they'ed like to be seated inside or outside. "Inside, of course! What do you take me for? An country bumpkin? Just seat us now! Ha! This is so annoying," she said waiting to be seated. The waitress put them in a corner where no one would notice them. The waitress went to pour them each water when she spilled a glass on the table. "I am so sorry. Please more to this table," she said trying not to fall apart.

"I can't believe this! Can't you do anything right?!" Alisa said shouting at the pour woman. At that time Max turned his head to see Alisa and Tanner through the windows of the house. They hadn't been noticed yet if anything they could only see his face. Hopefully she'll leave us alone. He thought as he continued eating his food. Lily was happy since she was still trying the different foods.

All of the sudden he noticed Tanner walking to the doors stepping out to light a smoke. At that moment he noticed Max walking over, "Max! its good to see you. Sorry about last night. Strange stuff. Who's this?" He hadn't walked past Lily's seat so he couldn't see her face. "This is a private dinner. I hate to be rude, but could you go back to my sister?" Max said sounding like Tanner was invading on his personal time. Shocked that he would talk to him that way he said, "Fine! I was just trying to be polite! Sheesh!" He stormed back inside.

"That was close. Maybe we should go," Lily said, "If he's here then she isn't far behind." Knowing she was right I went to ask for the check when Alisa came storming out walking right up to us. "What is the big idea of you being rude to Tanner? He was just saying hello. And who's this? New playtoy for you or wait is this your possible Luna?" she demanded trying to find out everything about me to tell mother.

"What's it to you? Aren't you supposed to be taking Tanner back home? Why stop here its not a gas station?" Max said sounding annoyed that she was there. Alisa looked hurt at his words pouting, "Don't be so mean brother. We just want to have a meal before he had to work for the next couple of weeks. He's to transfer to the Palace soon. So don't be so stand-off-ish towards him." Lily had yet to say anything when he heard a whisper in his mind,*Want me to knock her out? She won't know its me.*

Smirking at the question he said out loud, "Look sis its great you found your mate, but I am here with someone. If I wanted to be friendly I wouldn't have come here. Now if you would please go so we can finish our meal?" The appalled look said it all as if he would regret talking at her that way. "Just who is so important that you would tell your little sister to just leave?! Who?!" Alisa said turning to see who the woman he was with was.
