With the emergence of the many portals across the globe, chaos erupted in the world with mankind fighting tooth and nail for her survival. The nations whose militaries were fast enough to mobilize troops sent them into battle with high-calibre firearms and tanks parading the streets. However, it only got worse as it crushed their hopes. At first, it seemed like the tanks and the high-level calibre weapons were their hope of winning, but soon enough, beings that had natural resistance to armoured tank fire started to appear, and every iota of hope was crushed.
Their bodies resisted explosions and were practically impenetrable by the bullets that were fired at them. Several human beings who witnessed this firsthand swallowed loudly in fear, with sweat wetting their faces and bodies; some were even so scared that they wet their pants and shat their trousers.
It was a terrible experience to witness considering how weak man was against these strange creatures. The invaders cleared everything on their paths that weren't their kind, even invaders fought against strange invaders whom they didn't recognise as allies.
It was the true survival of the fittest. A battle royal involving different worlds is represented.
As the battle got more and more intense, mankind was on top of the list for the first race to fall and it was looking like that would be feasible within the next few days and the only thing that even allowed it to reach that far was the sheer population of human beings in their world that numbers in billions.
Mankind's doom seemed certain and etched in stone until something started to happen. The spiritual energy which Zony had requested Siri to introduce into the world took effect, acting like a miraculous intervention of the heavens to save humans. Many of those who have survived so far started to awaken extraordinary abilities to fight back against the invaders. Some noticed that they were unusually strong; for example, a punch that could not do anything to an invading creature soon started to knock them out.
Human beings could finally enjoy one second of respite and take a deep breath of relief as their abilities awakened. They finally had a fighting chance against these strange beings.
Every species could now fight on equal footing. As much as man did not completely understand this strange abilities they were awakening, it still increased their chances of survival many times over.
The war was only just getting started!

Cassie landed on the ground and lightly jumped back two steps as she evaded the attack of the goblin that had aimed a long stone hammer across her face. She was quick to dodge since she was faster than the bunch of them.
The portal that opened inside their university introduced a herd of goblins, hobgoblins and ogres into the university grounds and they had to deal with that. Many students had already lost their lives before abilities were awakened, and even now, many still lost their lives as they didn't know how to use their abilities to save themselves while also lacking natural survival skills.
Cassie, at the moment, was who stood between the herd of a few goblins and a group of a few university students. If Cassie died, then they were as good as dead since they couldn't fight for shit. Cassie felt the strange sensation as an eerie feeling coursed through her veins. The injuries she had sustained started to heal under the cover of her clothes but she could only hint at this because the pain she felt reduced markedly.
Cassie felt rejuvenated and fresh and that was why she could easily and comfortably take on this group of goblins. Her basic martial arts skill could only dent their bodies since they had control of spiritual energy or mana as they called it among themselves and mankind did not… until a few minutes ago, at least. With the blessing of this spiritual energy now, Cassie could land a proper hit and this shocked the goblins, seeing how she easily fell three of their own in a flash.
As Cassie and her enemies observed each other closely, with Cassie intermittently looking over her shoulders to make sure the other students were alright, something strange happened. A ring sounded in her head and caused her ears to tingle as a message appeared again. It was similar to the ones she saw before the end of the world started — a resplendent blue screen.
[You have been blessed]
[You have received the ability — Bull's Eye]
[...]
[Ding!]
[Your inventory has been updated!]
[You have received a new weapon]
Cassie tried to push this to the back of her mind so she could focus on defeating the goblins left, but she just couldn't. It was too important to be passed by like that, and she had no choice but to pay it some attention.
'What is this? An ability…?' she contemplated, her eyes never looking away from the six goblins in front of her.
'Bull's Eye?'
Cassie glanced through the description of her ability and half a smile creased her face as she read on. Of course, all these happened within a span of seconds to a few minutes as she assimilated the information. Cassie then gave the students behind her a sidelong glance before uttering: "If any of you awakened an ability! Prepare to fight!"
The students were hit with a wave of shock, fear and later on, determination. The fear in their hearts had not allowed them to focus enough to confirm if they had awakened any abilities at all.
Grrr~
A duo from the herd of goblins groaned before they charged forward, rushing towards Cassie with their crude weapons in hand to attack her. Cassie dodged the first swing, grabbing the hand of the first goblin and forcing it into moving the weapon to block the weapon assault from his partner.
Seizing this opportunity, a third goblin jumped forward, swinging down a crude stone hammer to strike Cassie at the centre of her head, but she dodged again, causing the creatures to gnash their teeth bitterly.
At the time this was happening, Cassie seemed a bit distracted, seeing how she narrowly avoided severe head trauma from the third goblin's attack. She was distracted because she was reading something.
'Inventory, huh…' she uttered in her mind as another screen appeared with one weapon slot possessing a weapon.
"Perfecto!" Cassie unknowingly exclaimed in excitement as she conjured the gun in her hand before pointing it forward.
"Now, let's see just what this Bull's Eye is about…"
