Chapter 1 - An S-class Quest

The grand guild hall of the Slivar Guild located at the centre of the Shard City, could be seen from around the city and beyond. At the very top of the 500-meter tall building, a figure stood near its edge, gazing down at the wide cityscape. He wore a robe belonging to the Slivar Guild, one similar to that of a daoist robe but being a specially made Half-King Tier armour, forged to suit his taste. Held in his hands was the only known weapon he used, a simple-looking Sword though forged form a King Tier Monster Core.

He was one who developed a rare taste in admiring the skies, the sunrise as his favorite amongst the rest. It was his daily routine, and one of the few things he found temporal peace of mind, in his grim and dark world. His roughed up and wrinkled olive skin, shimmered under the few rays of light brightening the sky of dawn.

Staring up into the sky, tears fell off his face as varying flashes of memories spined around in his mind. He'd finally lost everyone, the last one of them being the Guildmaster of the Slivar Guild. Gosra Slivar was his name, being the only reason he kept on moving and pushing through the boundaries and bottlenecks, despite his awful methods. Yet now, he was just another one of the memories which tortured him every day and night.

'How did it all begin?' He wondered.

'The ultimate goal was to be at the top together? So how?'

"Please forgive me, everyone—please." He spoke into the wind, aware there was no way to receive any form of reply.

He was now the last of his family and name, also having brought the last of his kingdom and empire to their knees and deaths. His gaze shifted down to his shaking hands as he could only wonder the amount of blood he'd shed. Having one of the weakest auras, one could only imagine the gruesome things he'd done to surpass the A-class. Even to the extent of becoming the first S-class, at the age of three-hundred and ten.

The betrayals, backbitting, false accusations, lies, failed promises, broken bonds and deaths of thousands he'd committed were surely unforgivable by heaven and earth.

For deep inside, he was just a strong and mighty tower, crumbling down fast with nothing but his past pulling him down.

Already, the sun had partially emerged now above the horizon, having successfully began a new day. It lit up the skies bringing the city to life and into the morning. But as usual, it still did fail to stretch out its life to his dark and bleeding heart.

"Greetings Master." A deep and hoarse masculine voice could be heard, with a brief gust of wind and an ear piercing shriek following suit. "I came as quickly as you said I should, Master."

"Oh, has it been found now?" He inquired, his voice croaking and low but was clearly heard as he was always in a Spirituality Constant. Not turning back to take a look at the figure behind him, his face being drenched in tears and his eyes red and swollen.

"Yes Master, the Quest Department displayed it as an S-class Quest like you requested." The figure which stood behind him answered, wearing a full armour bearing the guild colours, and having his face down.

"Good then." He said, taking another look at the sunrise, he now stood at the building's edge. As with a step forward, he disappeared down the building without any care.

Giving a bow as He left his line of view, a gesture every guild member of the Slivar Guild, gave to the Shards Of The Guild– Hunters with the highest position in the guild. The B-class Hunter looked up and whistled having the Falcon Beast flying above, make a descent. Mounting it, the beast quickly soared up high into the sky on his command. Reaching a meter below the clouds, it spread out its large wings as it turned to position itself downwards. Without hesitation, it swept back its wings to its body, going in for a dive.

Dropping from the top of the building, He was falling fast, having no protection scroll activated to prevent the damage upon impact. He kept his eyes closed, memories of ten years ago flashing before him. Back then it was an A-class Quest he'd taken together with Gosra Slivar. It was meant to be another quest grinding together, inorder to breakthrough to another Spiritual Power Level, yet they were forced to retreat after the Guildmaster took a deadly blow instead of him. Four years later, Gosra died from the deep gush on his chest. So ever since then He had hunted it down in everyway possible. But after 6 years, it had finally been found once again.

Almost halfway through the height of the Guildhall and with his speed, he'd be mere paste after crashing down. After all, dropping faster than normal, his weapon and armour had to blame. For the higher the tier, the heavier they got– probably making him weigh a ton now.

Above him, the large falcon beast could be seen coming towards him fast yet, as it neared him it dived right past him. Coming to a stop a few feet above the ground, just below the fifth floor which the administrative body of Quests was located. The beast flapped heavily, sending a strong gust of wind up towards the incoming S-class Hunter. Being met by the wind, his fall was broken in an instant before swiftly landing on the falcon's left wing.

His eyes fluttering open, he tapped his foot twice on the wing as a form of appreciation. Walking towards the transparent windows, he brought out a scroll, pouring in an adequate quantity of spiritual energy to activate it, he threw it at the building.

Soon a portal opened up on the he building and with that, He entered it and into the Quest Department.

"Greetings Master!" All the hunters around bowed and said in unison. Without a word, he walked towards a large quest board with a single quest displayed on it. The sign above it read 'S-class Quest' being the first of its kind.
