Just as he stepped forward, Evelyn suddenly stood up, wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Her legs were shaking but she managed to show courage. "Aren't you scared of what Markkus would do to you? I'm his mate!"
The three paused for a moment, then erupted into loud, mocking laughter, the sound echoing off the cabin walls and making Evelyn's skin crawl. Kael wiped tears from his eyes, his face still twisted in a cruel grin.
"Oh, you really are naive, aren't you?" he sneered. "Markkus doesn't care about you, Evelyn. You're just a pawn to him, a means to an end. He's gotten all he wanted from you, and now, he's tired of you. And as for being his mate..."
Kael's laughter trailed off, replaced by a cold gaze. "He's already slept with Miranda, and will be taking her as his mate and Luna tomorrow. So, tell me, where do you belong, Evelyn? You lost his protection the moment he chose Miranda over you…ah…"
Kael raised a finger, as if realization just dawned on him. "You've never truly had his protection." he looked at Evelyn and clicked his tongue, feigning pity. "You thought he didn't know that you were being bullied?" He pointed at Ryder, "Don't you know him? He's Ryker's twin brother, Markkus's future beta."
Evelyn's heart dropped. It was as if it had been punched out of her chest. The room spun around her, and she felt like she was going to collapse. Markkus has been using her? She didn't believe it.
But as for choosing Miranda over her, the thought was like a knife to her heart. He promised her just this morning, by the lake, to be with her.
She had given herself to him completely, and this was how he repaid her? By discarding her like trash and choosing another woman? Evelyn's eyes snapped back to Kael, who was watching her with a cruel smile.
"You're lying," she spat, trying to keep her voice steady. "Markkus wouldn't do that to me."
But Kael just chuckled. "Am I?" He said, "Why did you think he sent you that letter? He asked you to come here, but I appeared instead. Who did you think told me about your scent? Clearly, he's your mate. He's the only one who knows about your flowery, intoxicating scent, no?"
Evelyn gasped, and her body shook. She was about to collapse, but held the cabin for support. She still didn't want to believe that Markkus did that, but the evidence was too overwhelming to ignore.
The letter, the fact that Kael knew about her scent... it all pointed to one horrifying truth - Markkus had betrayed her.
She didn't have the time to mourn her pitiful life when Thane and Ryder swept into her view, both of them holding her arms in a tight grip, their fingers digging deep into her skin as they moved her to the bed.
Evelyn was lost at first, but when her back touched the bed, she began to struggle. However, how could she struggle against two powerful warriors?
"Don't touch me!" She screamed when she saw Kael stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Don't struggle, little slut. Let's make it quick and painless." He said and began to loosen the rope on his trousers.
That was when Evelyn's mind snapped and she felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins. With a force she didn't know, she wrenched her arms free and launched at Kael. It was a stupid move, but she'd rather die than let these filthy animals touch her.
Everything happened too fast. Her fingers curled into claws, and she raked them across his face, leaving bloody gashes in her wake. Kael howled in pain and rage, stumbling backward as Evelyn's attack caught him off guard.
Thane and Ryder were taken aback, momentarily stunned into inaction. Evelyn took advantage of the distraction to make a run for the door. But it was locked.
Evelyn's heart sank as she frantically pulled on the handle, but it wouldn't budge. She banged her fists on the door, screaming at the top of her voice.
Outside, Barak glanced at the Alpha who still refused to move from his spot.
Vlad's eyes were slightly narrowed. He could hear what was going on inside, but he didn't move. But yet time.
"Get that bitch and beat the shit out of her!" Kael thundered. His wound was healing, but not as fast as Evelyn's.
Thane and Ryder recovered from their surprise, their faces twisted into cruel grins. "You think you can escape that easily?" Thane sneered, advancing on her.
Ryder chuckled, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. "We've been waiting for you to try something like that."
Kael, still nursing his wounded face, snarled at her. "You'll pay for what you did to me."
Evelyn's back was against the door, her eyes darting wildly around the room, searching for an escape, but there was none. She was cornered, and they were closing in.
'Napua, please wake up! Please! Napua, we're in danger, wake up!!'
She tried mindlinking her wolf, hoping she'd react, but her wolf didn't.
Evelyn was dragged and pinned to the bed. Kael slapped her across the face a few times, then began to shred her dress as he cursed her repeatedly.
She screamed, her eyes blinded by tears as she tried to thrash her body but her hands and legs were pinned down.
"Open those legs for me. Let's see if she's wearing something underneath." Kael rubbed his hands together, feelings excited.
Once her legs were forcefully parted, his eyes widened, "Oh! She's so beautiful down there. I'm coming to swim in your ocean. Hahaha…!"
His trousers dropped to his ankles, and his manhood stood erect. "Hold her tight. After I go, you two can have her too."
Thane and Ryder smiled with glee and watched Kael get on top of Evelyn, but just as his manhood was about to cross its boundary, a fierce roar tore through Evelyn's throat. At the same moment, her nails elongated into razor-sharp claws, the two of them quickly let go of her, and she swiped at Kael with a ferocity that sent him flying across the room.
Thane and Ryder's eyes widened in shock as Evelyn's body began to shift and contort, her limbs elongating and her senses heightening. Her eyes gleamed with a fierce, feral light as she let out a furious roar that shook the cabin and blew out all the candles.
The room was dark but she could see. Suddenly, her white wolf glowed in the darkness, surrounded by pure light that illuminated the entire room, casting an ethereal glow on the faces of Thane, Ryder, and Kael.
