ANNE POV
As I walked down the hallway to take some documents to Harvey's office, I noticed that the door was slightly opened and Harvey left the office immediately his dad came, I felt they must have had an argument. But as I approached the door, I heard voices of Mr Leonardo and his son Matteo coming from inside. They seemed to be discussing something really serious.
"...the shipment is coming in tonight," Mr Leonardo said, his voice low and menacing. "We need to make sure everything is in place, and I don't want Harvey finding out a thing about it. You need to play it safe" he added.
"I've taken care of it dad," Matteo replied, his voice equally cold. "The men are ready, and the trucks are fully loaded for the shipment."
I froze, my heart pounding in my chest. What were they talking about? And what did they mean by "the shipment"? I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that I might have stumbled upon something I wasn't meant to know.
Mr Leonardo's voice sent a chill down my spine. "And what about the problem with the Torrio's? They mustn't say anything about Alessandro and Sophia Rossi. We need to silence them ?" he said.
Matteo's response was equally unsettling. "I've taken care of it," he said. "They won't be a problem anymore." he smiled.
I felt a wave of fear wash over me. They just mentioned Rossi, my parent's name. What could be going on? could the Giordano's be responsible for my parents death? Something was actually going on and the Giordano's have something to do with my parents murder.
I then made my way through the hallway and then to my office picked up my bag and left. I made sure that they didn't know I overheard their conversation.
•••••••••••×××ו•••••×××ו••••••••••••
I stepped into my apartment, the silence a jarring contrast to the turmoil brewing inside me. My head was literally spinning from the conversation I'd overheard at the office. Mr Leonardo and Matteo's words had been like a slap in the face, leaving me stunned and disoriented.
I walked over to the kitchen to get some water, my fingers trembling slightly as I picked up the glass. I couldn't believe that I had just heard my parents' names mentioned in the same breath as something illicit. The memory of it made my stomach twist into knots. What had they been involved in? And what does Giordano's have to do with it?
I thought back to my childhood, trying to remember if there had been any signs, any hints that something was off. But my memories seemed innocent, carefree. Had I been blind to the truth, or had my parents managed to keep it hidden from me because I was still a child?
The questions swirled inside me like a maelstrom, pulling me down into the depths of uncertainty. I felt like I was losing my grip on reality, like I was trapped in a never-ending nightmare.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the racing thoughts that threatened to overwhelm me. But my mind refused to quit, the secrets and lies swirling inside me like a toxic storm. I knew for sure that I had to find out what the Giordano's did to my parents.
I have always known that my parents' death was suspicious. They were killed in a robbery gone wrong or so the police said. But I never believed it. There was something about the way the police seemed to brush it off, like they were hiding something. As it turned out, the authorities had frozen my parents assets as part of their investigation into the Rossi family's alleged connections to organized crimes. But as the years went by, even after the investigation was done all my parents assets remained frozen and I was left with nothing and it was really suspicious to me, I knew someone was behind it. I was only a kid when it happened, but I remember the feeling of emptiness and loss that followed.
I don't have any answers, but I know that I'll never stop searching for the truth. And I know that one day, I'll find out what really happened to my parents.
Little do I know, my life is about to take a dramatic turn. I'm about to stumble upon a secret that will change everything I thought I knew about my parents' deaths. And I'm about to find myself in the crosshairs of powerful and ruthless enemies.
I walked into the sitting room, the cool glass of water in my hand a meager attempt to calm the turmoil brewing inside me. The conversation I'd overheard still echoed in my mind, refusing to be silenced. I turned on the TV, hoping the distraction would quiet the questions swirling in my head. But instead, I was hit with another shock: the breaking news report of the murder of a key business member of the Torrio family. I literally just heard the Giordano's mention their name and now they've been murder, the Giordano's are really not just Mafias but killers too.
Now how am I gonna find out about my parents murder the only clue I had has been taken. My mind was racing with possibilities, trying to make sense of the fragmented pieces of information I had stumbled upon. What if the Giordano's were just trying to tie up loose ends, to eliminate any potential threats to their secrets? Something must have come up after all these years, something that made them feel like they were at risk of being exposed. The conversation I overheard, the murder of Torrio's business member... it all seemed connected, but I still had no idea what was really going on. Maybe it has something to do with the shipment? could it be a drug dealing company or maybe an illegal manufacturing company? I really don't know but I have to find out.
