ANNE POV
I sat in front of my laptop with the determination to proceed with my investigation. I had made up my mind to uncover the truth about my parents' death, and I was starting with the Torrio family. Today was Saturday, and I had the entire day to devote to my investigation.
I began by searching online for any information about the Torrio family's murder case. According to the authorities, it was a fatal accident. But I knew better. The Giordano family had a history of covering up their tracks, and I was convinced that they were behind the Torrio family's demise.
I decided to pay a visit to the Torrio family's company -Torrio's hub, hoping to find some clues that might lead me to their home. I grabbed my bag and set out, my heart racing with anticipation.
After a 20-minute drive, I arrived at the Torrio family's company. It was a large, imposing building with a sleek glass covering. As I approached the building, I overheard two security guards talking about the Torrio family's burial ceremony. They mentioned that some staff members would be attending, and that they would be heading to the Torrio's mansion afterwards.
I decided to follow the staff members, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mansion and maybe even find some clues about what had really happened to the Torrio family.
I kept a safe distance as I followed the staff members' cars. We drove through the winding streets of the city, the scenery changing from bustling streets to quiet suburbs.
Finally, we arrived at the Torrio's mansion, a grand and imposing structure that loomed over the surrounding houses. I parked my car a short distance away, watching as the staff members got out of their cars and into the mansion.
I waited for a few moments, observing the mansion and its surroundings. I noticed that the mansion was surrounded by high walls and security cameras, making it nearly impossible to sneak in undetected.
But I was determined to find a way in, to uncover the secrets that the Torrio family had left behind. I took a deep breath and followed the staff members through the mansion gate. I got in and joined the ceremony as my eyes swept through the entire hall. I noticed a tall dark middle aged man who was Torrio's brother sitting at the front of the hall with a young boy who seems to be Torrio's son and his nanny sitting by his side.
Just as the ceremony was about to close, I noticed a commotion at the back of the crowd. People were parting to let two women through, and I caught my breath as I saw Carla and Isabella Giordano make their way to the front. It turned out that the Giordano's were close friends with the Torrio's.
Carla, the matriarch of the Giordano family, looked as imposing as ever, her eyes scanning the crowd with a calculating gaze. Isabella, her daughter-in-law, walked beside her, a fake smile plastered on her face.
The two women made their way to the front row, where they exchanged brief, insincere condolences with Torrio's brother and the nanny. The young boy, Torrio's son, looked up at them with wide, tear filled eyes, Carla's gaze flickered over the boy, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of something - interest, perhaps, or calculation. But it was quickly masked by her usual cold, imperious expression.
"We're so sorry for your loss," Isabella said, her voice dripping with insincerity. "If there's anything we can do to help, please don't hesitate to reach out".
The boy's nanny murmured a polite thank you, but Torrio's brother just nodded curtly, his eyes narrowing as he watched the Giordano women. I could sense the tension between them, the unspoken animosity that hung in the air like a challenge.
Torrio's brother looked down at the boy, his expression softening for a moment. He placed a hand on the boy's shoulder, and the boy looked up at him, his eyes filled with a deep sadness.
"It's going to be okay," his uncle said, his voice low and gentle. "You're going to come live with me now. I'll take care of you."
The boy nodded, his eyes welling up with tears. His uncle pulled him into a tight hug, holding him close as the boy sobbed against his chest.
I noticed the way the nanny looked at Carla Giordano's with fear in her eyes. I knew I had to somehow meet up with the nanny. Maybe she can help me get answers. I paid all my attention to the nanny wanting to follow her if she leaves. Just then she got up, went towards Torrio's brother, said a word to him and left. I then got up and followed her down the hall leading to the restroom, she got into the female restroom and I stood patiently waiting for her to come out. When she came out I went towards her trying to start a conversation with her.
"Good day ma'am" I said
"Good day" she said in a rush
I tagged along with her closely and then as I continued the conversation
"please ma'am I would really need your help about something" I said
"What would that be?" she said calmly, ready to help.
"It's about the murder of the Torrio's" I murmured
With a confused look on her face she said
"Are u a detective??, they died by accident not a murder please if you would excuse me" she said with fear written all over her face.
I knew she knew something. Maybe that's why she's feeling quite uncomfortable, she doesn't want to say a thing.
"Ma'am please am not a detective but I need to know what really happened. I have a strong feeling it's related to something about my parents death too" I said.
She looked at my face, and it seemed she had grown some kind of concern for me. Maybe because I had mentioned my parents, she held my hands and took me to the back of the mansion and then she said
"They killed your parents too" she asked
My heart gladden knowing fully well that she was with me.
"I don't know what they did to my parents but I know they have something to do with my parents death, please can you tell me all about what happened? Who do you think is responsible??" I asked curiously
"We can't talk here, met me here tomorrow morning by that time no one would be here" she said
"Ok I will, thanks for your time" I said with a smile on my face
"what's is your name" she asked
"Anne..... Anne Rossi" I said
When I mentioned Rossi she immediately wore a surprised look on her face
"Ohh poor child, you are the Rossi girl, Sir Torrio looked all around for you when he heard you left the orphanage" she said
At that point I became more confused but the fact that I had a clue made me feel better.
"Let's just talk tomorrow, we have a lot to talk about," she said.
I nodded giving a sign of agreement then she left and headed back to the hall, I headed back home as the thoughts of what she had said lingered all through my head.
