Chapter 28 - Office Introduction

"Morning, Livvy, you are very early today!" Zara appeared to be yelling as if Olivia was deaf. Olivia held her head as she hurried to reach the private elevator. She had no desire for anything today, including interacting with Noah's lovely secretary. She was genuinely not in the mood for anything.

"Do you know what's wrong with her?" Chloe stared at her in awe. All Zara did was gaze at her and shrug her shoulders.

Noah strolled into the building a few minutes after Livvy arrived, seemingly overjoyed. He appeared to be in a positive mood. Noah, who was all about working hard and making money, was looking forward to this half-day with great anticipation. "Morning, Zara." Cheerfully, Noah greeted her. "Morning, Chloe."

"Morning, Mr. Jones." Zara greeted him with her eyes narrowed.

"Oh!" "Mr. Jones, good morning!" With her eyebrows wrinkled, Chloe greeted the person and then returned to whatever she was doing. Chloe was among the few individuals who showed no concern about whether Noah was experiencing happiness or sadness.

"Where is Quinn?" After raising an eyebrow at Zara, Elowen hurriedly entered the building and ran to the desk. It was as if he had been waiting for it all along.

"Here, here, Sir!" Breathlessly, Elowen spoke the words as she walked around the desk. "Morning, Mr. Jones." She greeted him while placing her files on the desk.

"Morning, Elowen." Noah surprised Elowen with a cheerful greeting. "Have a great day, ladies!" He made this statement as he was leaving.

Elowen giggled as he looked at Zara, seeking an explanation. "He finally said my name." A squeal came from Elowen, and Zara grinned and shook her head in response.

"Just be glad he's in a good mood and didn't fire you." After making a snide remark, Chloe moved out of the reception area.

Once more, Elowen turned her gaze to Zara. "Don't ask." She remarked, gently deflecting her. "What is happening with the folks in this place is beyond my comprehension," she said. Livvy looks like someone who was struck by a bus, Chloe is in a bad mood, and Noah is in a cheerful mood, as he is busy flashing amusing smiles at everyone. Zara responded, and the two chuckled before Elowen asked about Livvy's identity.

Zara introduced her as April's lawyer, observing Noah engaging in a conversation with a group of interns. He had a lot of explaining to do, and Zara was waiting for him to finish so she could approach him before he went to his office.

"She's becoming quite familiar with this place for a lawyer, but anyway, I don't know how she looks, but Mr. Jones and Chloe, you'd swear they swapped faces today." Elowen's addition elicited another round of laughter.

After delivering icy glares to the people working at the desk, Chloe walked away. As the two receptionists saw her leave, they couldn't help but chuckle. At that very moment, Noah moved away from the interns and headed to his elevator. Zara excused herself and hurried to him just before the elevator doors closed. She entered the elevator and stood beside him as it passed through the doors. Even though he did not utter a single word, he continued to have that triumphant look.

"You look pleased this morning." A smile appeared on Noah's face as he turned back to face the front of the room once she had finished speaking.

"That's because I am happy." Zara clenched her teeth in apparent annoyance as he chirped with a joyful expression. Until she made her inquiry, he had not revealed anything.

"Does this have anything to do with our damsel in distress?" She asked, and Noah gave her a fleeting glance in response.

"Yes, it looks like our damsel in distress will be staying for a while longer." He said this with a sneer.

"Is the duration sufficient for you to hold her accountable for humiliating you?" Even though she asked just as the elevator door opened, she shut it before Noah could get out, which he did not appear to mind.

With a stern expression unfit for Zara, Noah raised his head and spoke in a commanding tone, "Long enough to make her pay for humiliating and deceiving me."

Before she gave him a firm nod, Zara gave him a stern and long look as if she were assessing the seriousness of what he had said. "Good." Her tone was stern, and she averted her gaze. She stepped out of the elevator as it stopped on the bottom floor, and then she walked away without turning around to look back.

Upon reaching the top floor, Noah immediately took off his shoes. Upon entering his office, he positioned his bag on the desk. After taking off his jacket and settling in, he took a seat around his desk. It wasn't until he looked up that he noticed Livvy sitting on the couch and smirked with a distinct sense of pride. In response, he stated, "You are quite early today."

"Yes," Olivia responded sluggishly.

"How impressive." In a mocking tone, he stated. "Miss Williams, where is my coffee?" He questioned curtly, a sneer on his face that was on the verge of breaking out.

"Mr. Jones." With a sigh, she leaned back on the couch and massaged her temples while she leaned back in her chair. "Did you give me your coffee?" She gritted her teeth.

"Please get to the kitchen and get me some coffee right now." He gave the order, and Olivia offered him a sneer before she stood up and exited his office without uttering a word. Noah gave a sly grin before sitting down on his chair. "This is going to be fun." The happiness he felt, however, was short-lived since Olivia returned a few seconds later without his coffee. "Is there a problem?" As he inquired, he did not take his eyes off the blank screen.

"Could you please show me where the kitchen is?" She spoke in an unbearably sweet voice.

The moment Noah stopped moving, he glanced at her with a glare that would have caused anyone to run away in terror, but all she did was raise an eyebrow in anticipation of his response. He seemed to have her where he wanted her, even though she had almost told him to get up and show her the kitchen. He was ready to implement the second element of his strategy. "Go and ask Zinnia downstairs; she will show you where the kitchen is." He made this comment while continuing to fix his gaze on the screen for another moment.

"Who is Zinnia?" Olivia inquired.

Noah looked up to catch her explanation, but Olivia, who was also waiting, did not appear. He would implement his plan quickly, as it was proving effective.

"You don't know who Zinnia is?" In a composed manner, Noah inquired, and she crossed her arms. "Okay, do you know Elowen?" With a frown on her face, Olivia stared at him. He hadn't even bothered to introduce her to these people, so how could she possibly know them all? "Chloe?" He repeated his question, but she sighed. "Who do you know?" Out of annoyance, he inquired about it.

"What do you think?" At that moment, Olivia exploded, and Noah sighed before rising from his seat.

"Come with me." Just as he was leaving his office, he issued the directive. Olivia accompanied him as they entered the elevator and proceeded to the bottom floor. Olivia, still suffering from a hangover, remained unaware of what was happening. As soon as they arrived on the first floor, Noah clapped his hands to draw his crew's attention. "Everyone, may I have your attention for a second?" Before Olivia could even begin to comprehend the situation, a large crowd quickly gathered around him. He said this in an authoritative voice. In response to the fact that she was aware of what Noah was doing, she clenched her teeth and murmured a series of curses under her breath. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce you to my new personal assistant." Following his words, Noah positioned his hand on her back and pushed her forward to ensure everyone could see her. "Meet Livvy Williams. She's April Williams' sister and will be with us for a few weeks."

Even though this was a significant blow to her ego, Olivia managed to keep her calm and have the courage she possessed in the face of the tremendous applause that broke out. They were unaware that she was Olivia Miller (The Olivia Miller). They knew her as Livvy Williams, a personal assistant. "Make her feel at home." Once he finished speaking, he shifted his attention to Zara, who was beaming with pride on her face. "For the day, Zara, you will serve as her tour guide. Later, it would help if you took her to her office after you showed her around the building." According to what he said, there was mutual understanding between the two of them.

"Yes, Mr. Jones." Noah gave a short nod and switched focus to the other staff after Zara reacted strongly with her usual accent. Noah could have taken Zara's response better.

"Very well then, Livvy, get back to work." Olivia and Zara were the only ones remaining with him when he issued the command, after which the crowd dispersed, and everyone returned to their separate offices. He nodded his approval, left Zara in charge of Olivia, and then went to his office.

"Miss Williams, please follow me this way." And with that, Zara headed in the direction of a double door.

Olivia stepped alongside her and followed her as she went. What she said was, "Call me Livvy." Why not engage in a casual conversation with Noah's most trusted secretary, given her impending confinement in this hellhole? She could potentially aid her in comprehending Noah's intentions.

"All right. Call me Zara." She gave her a friendly grin.

Olivia responded with a snarky tone, "I'm pleased to meet you, Zara." It's confusing why she acted like this was their first meeting when they met at Noah's office.

"Likewise." Zara gave a sly grin as they entered the area through the double doors. "So, Livvy, this is the staff's kitchen." "Honestly, it's more of a do-it-yourself cafeteria, but whatever." Zara stood with the door open for Olivia, murmuring to herself.

"Do you have all the necessary kitchen appliances in your kitchen?" Olivia asked.

"Although we were meant to have a cook, remember that this is a place of business and not a restaurant. Abby had such a strong desire to hire a cook that she believed he would agree with whatever she had to say if she were the boss's "it" girl. However, the other members of the staff and I argued against this idea. Zara elaborated to me. "So, as I mentioned earlier, this is the staff kitchen; a private kitchen exists on the last floor, but it's exclusively for the boss." She provided clarification, and Olivia acknowledged her with a nod as they exited the kitchen. "The bathrooms are that way." Towards the left of the reception counter, Zara indicated the location. "Come this way." Following her words, she took Olivia to the private elevator and proceeded to the last floor.

"Is that what you mean when you say a tour? After showing me the kitchen and bathroom with your finger, you're taking me to the top floor. What about the other floors? She felt compelled to highlight Zara's shortcomings as a tour guide, and what better way to do so than to suggest potential improvements? Olivia asked, despite being uninterested in everything she listed.

"I sensed your boredom; could you let me know if you wish to explore all forty floors?" It's not like you'll do anything with the other floors." Zara let out a chuckle.

"What do you mean?" Olivia asked.

After exiting the elevator, they made their way to a door located a short distance from Noah's office. Zara unlocked the door for them, and they entered the room. "Because your office is right here." Zara had at long last responded. As Olivia focused her suspicious attention on everything, her eyes enlarged and shrunk to a fraction of their original size.

The scene in front of her was really alluring; it was a spacious office equipped with all the office supplies she could ever require. The entire office was white, including the floor, the wall, the ceiling, the printers, the desk, the chairs, the cupboards, and the computer. It was similar to Noah's but far smaller and more appropriate for an executive member than a personal assistant.

"Fancy." Her tone was acrid and dry.

"You are so lucky, Livvy; I still can't believe he gave you an office." Zara said this in a dreamlike manner, and Olivia had to resist the urge to confront her. He knew this was inevitable because it was part of the arrangement—his strategy.

"What exactly do you know? Wouldn't April have had a place to work?" With a playful tone, Olivia inquired.

Zara made a headshake motion. "Yes, that is the case. Although she shared the space with Abby a few floors down, she did indeed do so. The boss lived just a few doors away from her workplace, and she desperately needed her own space. When Zara looked at Olivia with a suspicious expression on her face, Olivia rolled her eyes. She couldn't ignore that the name "Abby" kept appearing in conversation, but she chose to ignore it.

"Well, what can I say?" Olivia shrugged before sitting down behind her new desk.

"A conversation has already begun." Everyone in the town is talking about you. When I say that, I mean he has never done that for anyone, not even Abby." In a giddy tone, Zara stated.

"What are you talking about?" With a tone of boredom, Olivia asked.

"Can't you see it? The first thing he did was introduce you to the staff, and then he was kind enough to give you an office identical to his on the same floor as him!" I heard Zara exclaim. Olivia held the woman's head and gave her a once-over before leaving. Had anyone ever told her she was too loud for her own good? "This is the first time Mr. Jones has ever introduced anyone to the staff," Zara said. She then exited the room. She seemed to be on the verge of changing her mind, so she turned around and glanced at Olivia. "You must mean a lot to him." She said this, to which Olivia responded by shrugging her shoulders, closing her eyes, and waiting for Zara to leave.

She sat upright, pulled out her phone, and dialed Aiden's number, opening one eye to check if she had disappeared. Olivia then opened the other eye to do the same thing. "Aiden, we need to talk."
