Ivonne's POV
After Tobias and I had our discussion at the breakfast table, I tried to hold on to his words about trust, however it proved a bit difficult. It was just as he said, it was hard to trust someone after everything I'd been through.
He asked for the benefit of doubt and despite the fact I was hesitant, I was able to give him whatever percentage of trust I had left in me. I sincerely hoped he'd stick to his assurance of having everything planned out.
A knock had come an hour earlier on my room door and he peeked his head after I gave the permission to come in. Standing on the doorframe he informed me he would soon be leaving to the pack house for the scheduled meeting he had informed me about.
He also took the time to repeat I was free to roam the pack lands and get accustomed to the new environment. I wasn't too keen on the idea, nonetheless 30 minutes later I tapped my knuckles on Lora's door to let her know we'd be stepping out in a few.
That explained why I was facing the mirror as I zipped up the black cargo pants I had pulled on to match a simple white v-necked crop top with short sleeves.
My brown hair was in a high ponytail and my face devoid of cosmetics. I snatched up the sweet scented body spray which I found in the bathroom and pressed down on it, enveloping myself with it.
The artificial scent matched with my natural scent of orange and a bit of spice. I dropped the bottle and adjusted the black sling back I had crossed over my shoulder which contained my phone.
Whirling around from the reflective glass I exited my room which was directly after Tobias's room. Curiosity pierced my mind and I felt the urge to peep but shook away the tempting voice and faced the path the Lora's room.
Most of you may be wondering why you haven't heard my wolf speak well. It went quiet since I lost my pup. The pain of loosing a child hurt her and it hurt me too when she went quiet.
No communication or sign was felt to know if she was okay.
"Lora? I'm ready," I called at her door, having no need to go inward. Luckily the door opened and she stepped out, an excited smile on her lips. "You look nice."
"Thank you Luna," she beamed while I accessed her outfit. She appeared different and simply cute in a hello kitty black long-sleeved blouse and jeans. A total contrast the the usual dresses she had on.
"Let's go," I said intertwining her fingers with mine to stride toward the stairs and she followed without protest, only giggling in response. "It's 2 pm already."
"What time are we expected to be back?" She implored as we exited the mansion and I waved kindly at the guards at the entrance as we walked past.
"Before nightfall?" I said in more of a question than answer as I got momentarily distracted by the blush which stained her cheeks.
My brows furrowed in suspicion and confusion as I couldn't decipher who among the 2 guards at the entrance was responsible for her change in demeanor.
She noticed my steps falter and diverted her attention to see me gazing backwards. In a bid to literally draw me away from the scene, she dragged me ahead, the house becoming smaller with each step we took as we ventured into the heart of the pack.
The moon back had a serene ambience that happened to envelope me as I walked. Soft grasses grazed my toes through the black sandals I had on, a warm breeze blowing in the air and the scent of flowers filled the air.
Bungalows were scattered all over the land in no significant order and with no fences around them. A few tall buildings could be spotted and it was no surprise hence they belonged to companies and factories, mostly owned by Alpha Tobias and others by humans who wanted to invest in a new space and expand their business.
It was no jokes that the Moon Pack was 10x more better than what the Blood Pack could ever be. All these was surely as a result of how wise and hardworking Alpha Tobias could be.
Aside from being an intelligent man, he was almost 30 years older than Lincoln. He had seen more of the world than Lincoln and experienced a lot which had thought him lessons and given him the knowledge he had.
His age was also one of the reasons he was respected by old and young alike. He was more like a middle man between the elderly werewolves and the current adult werewolves.
With his age came wisdom which could not be ignored.
The thought of marrying him and bearing a child for him hovered over my head as Lora and me weaved our way toward the pack market square.
If he was that older than Lincoln he should be a lot older than me this Lincoln was my senior by 5 years so imagine Tobias. However it was a good thing age don't define relationships like it does in the human world.
Aside from the fact Tobias was strict and acted with precision like a mature minded man, his appearance and physique gave nothing away thus he was a lot more handsome than Lincoln.
The market square was buzzing with life and activity as colorful kiosks were propped right after the other, their windows and entrances filled with whatever goods they were selling.
"Did you perceive that?" I implored as the scent of freshly made taccos wafted into my nostrils.
"I do," she murmured in a grin. "Do you want me to go get some?"
"Will you be a darling and do that?" I cueed in a sweet voice, giving her the puppy dog eyes.
"Of course Luna," she answered and I dipped my fingers into the bag I was carrying to fish out the credit card Tobias handed to me when he dropped by room before leaving. "He gave you this?"
"Yes," I affirmed and wiggled the card in her face. "Now take it and get us some taccos."
She granted me a salute in response and turned toward the entrance of what appeared to be a Mexican restaurant. From the windows, I could see the inside was packed with people, there was still space if we needed to sit and eat but I didn't feel comfortable about that yet.
Even as I waited for Lora to return I felt a lot of eyes and my werewolf hearing picked up the whispers. I tried to act oblivious but there pointed fingers and head gestures made it difficult as I ended up smiling at them when I was caught staring back.
Thankfully Lora didn't take that long. It was barely minutes of me pretending to tap away on my phone while I leaned on the wall of the restaurant before the bell at the entrance dinged and she strolled out with two steaming paperbags.
I smiled in relief as it felt like she'd left me for hours. Having no idea for the reason I was smiling she grinned in return, hers filled with excitement as she handed me one paperbag. "I can't wait to taste it."
"Me either," I winked as I opened mine and peeked inside. We shared a contended look and permitted our feet carry us to another destination.
While we strolled around eating and laughing and admiring the environment while basking in the sun amidst the expected attention from the pack members, we didn't notice a certain unexpected attention from someone lurked in the shadows.
