Tobias POV
"Are you sure you are doing the right thing?" Jarvis my Beta and bestfriend inquired as he adjusted the collar of the white shirt I was wearing.
It was the day of the wedding and I was clad in a navy blue suit and slacks that complimented my eyes and a shirt underneath with a black and white striped tie which was hanging over my neck.
"Getting married for the second time in my life?" I raised a brow at his figure dressed in also a suit but his was black, complimented with a white shirt, same shade as the one Reed my Gamma and head warrior wore. "Or getting married to the former wife and Luna of my enemy?"
"Both of them," he sighed in exasperation as I pulled off the tie and handed it to him. His brown eyes having a hint of concern in them.
"You don't need to worry about me," I curled my lips in a confident smile and nodded in satisfaction at the mirror hence I appeared better without the tie.
"Being my Alpha and friend, there's no way I can't be concerned," he argued, staring up at me as a result of our 3 inches height difference.
"I know." I turned away from the mirror to face him while I loosened the two top bottoms of my shirt. "However as my friend and Alpha you should know I always do what is right."
"Yes Alpha, but this might be a step in the wr—"
"Right direction," I finished for him, my expression no longer playful as my lips stretched in a thin line and my irises fixed on him. "I have this all planned out."
We engaged in a stare of for some seconds as I dared him to contest me further. Luckily for him he didn't, rather he lowered his gaze and bobbed his head in acknowledgement of my decision.
A ringing noise pierced the quiet air in that moment and Reed who had been quiet during our exchange spoke. "That must be the wedding bells."
"Indeed," I beamed at Reed who appeared scary with a large scar running along his right cheek. However he was a playful one as those emerald eyes of his happened to be clouded with amusement all the time.
He was 5, 9 which was almost a foot shorter than me and a few inches below Jarvis, nonetheless he was a strong one and a very hard opponent to knock down especially with his immensely large muscles, shoulders and thighs.
Despite being that huge, he was light on his feet and had great speed, agility and stamina. To put it mildly he was born to be a warrior and he had proven in the years I'd known him to be the best among the rest.
"It's really funny to see the Alpha getting ready to be married," he mild voice which could be deceiving let out as a smile lingered around the corners of his mouth. "Wasn't it a decade and some years ago when we all had the same ceremony? Oh how time flies."
After the words had left his lips, he happened to realize what he had done as Jarvis muttered cursewords under his breath at his stupidity while my eyes grew frosty at the thought of my past.
It was two whole freaking years since she left that morning. Waking up to an empty bed was no bother hence her scent was all over the place and I easily thought she was somewhere in the pack house.
The thought that maybe she was making breakfast or being busy around brought a smile to my face as I showered. It only took an hour for my happinessti be destroyed as I was told by the maids she had gone out without giving her destination away.
At first I thought it was a prank but shit started to get real when I couldn't find her by evening I scraped every inch of the pack and the neighboring packs, nonetheless I couldn't find a trace of her.
There was no sign of an attack and I couldn't come to a conclusion about what exactly had caused her abrupt disappearance. As time went on I came to the realization it was what it was and since then I'd never remained the same.
My wolf took it harder than me, he was so broken that it turned him into a kind of angry monster, one which was always ready to stir up a fight and go for the kill once triggered.
I always let him take change whenever something ticked me off. Seeing the frightened expression on Ivonne's face that day made me think otherwise for the first time in 2 years after Martha my enstranged wife and mate.
For a moment I valued someone else's opinion of me as I worried I might scare her away or make her think more worse of me as the rumors had said.
Which was why I felt moved to assure her when she came close that I would never hurt her. A flash of admiration and something else I couldn't describe took over me when she didn't run and instead wanted to tend to my wounds.
It was in that moment I knew I was indeed making the right choice. The moon goddess too made a good decision when she chose her as my second chance mate, something I had only realized the night of the event where we met for the first time and ended in bed with her.
The second bell rang and I took it as a sign to get out of my head and get back to reality as Jarvis rushed to me and smoothened my jacket, his action prompting me to tilt my head, a question in my eyes. "I'm still happy for you Tobias."
"Not that I needed that, but thank you," I blurted and grinned at him. Peering at Reed I said. "Don't feel bothered about your words."
"Alpha, it's time to go down," a voice followed a rapt knock on the door. "The bride would be coming in soon."
"I'll be there," I said in my normal business like tone and strode to the door of my room. My hand on the knob I turned a bit to give the space a glance as it dawned on me she would be sleeping on that bed after the day's festivities.
"Forgetting something?" Jarvis implored as he noticed me pause.
"No." I shook my head from side to side and exited the room. "Let's get me married."
Reed chuckled at my utterance and I ignored him as I made my way to the kitchen, my eyes unconsciously searching around for a glimpse of her while I came down the stairs.
I shoved the side door in the kitchen open which led to the backyard and strolled out, my feet covered in designer black leather shoes meeting the well trimmed carpet grass.
The whole area which was my garden was filled with a large crowd. It wouldn't be surprising if I discover that every member of my pack was present. Aside that other pack dignitaries were invited.
As I had told Ivonne a week ago, we didn't divulge to the other pack invitees there was a wedding going on. All they knew was that I had invited them for an important ceremony.
The whole congregation rose from their seats as they felt my presence. My facial features blank I walked straight to the stage where an elder who was officiating the wedding stood.
