Chapter 2 - THE BRACELET

Yes, it's the bracelet.

The bracelet is completely black, without elaborate patterns or exquisite gems.

It's just an ordinary ring that couldn't be more ordinary.

"Is this it? Can such a thing make your master protect it with his life? Is there something wrong with his mind?" Reed stretched out his right index finger, pointing at the unremarkable bracelet, with a puzzled look on his face.

The metal head of the robot returned to its original state, and there was no sign of a seam at all.

It flicked the bracelet, and the bracelet happened to hang on Reed's outstretched right hand.

"No, what are you doing? I didn't say I wanted this thing!"

Reed quickly reached out to take off the bracelet, but it seemed to be growing on his hand and couldn't be pulled off no matter what.

"Damn it. Is this fucking thing a parasite? Why is it growing on my hand?" Reed frowned tightly.

In this way, the master's entrustment should also be considered completed, and this thing has not fallen into the hands of the bad guys.

A satisfied smile appeared on the cold face of the robot.

Then the red light in its eyes went out completely.

"Hey, iron lump, take this thing off for me quickly!" Reed turned his head to look at the robot on the ground.

With a"crack" explosion, the robot finally activated the self-destruction program and was completely scrapped, becoming a veritable iron lump.

"Damn you!" Reed couldn't help swearing when he looked at the smoking remains of the robot.

At this time, Reed finally realized that this bracelet was definitely not an ordinary ornament.

Its presence was so strange that he couldn't ignore it, as if it was attached to his skin and integrated into his body.

Even if he tried desperately to take it off, the invisible force prevented him from breaking free from its shackles.

"What the hell is this thing?" Reed said to himself, frowning.

Looking at the bracelet, he suddenly felt a palpitation - this thing was too dangerous, and if he was not careful, it might cause unpredictable consequences.

As a killer, Reed has experienced countless life and death moments, but he has never encountered such an unsettling thing.

"Wearing such a coveted thing so blatantly on my hand really makes me feel so insecure. Could it be that I have to chop off my own hand?" He gave a bitter smile. Just as he was hesitating whether to chop off his hand or not.

The bracelet seemed to sense his thoughts, emitting a faint white light. Then its presence disappeared rapidly, as if it had merged into his skin.

When Reed stretched out his hand to touch it, he couldn't feel anything at all.

"Why... did it disappear?" He was stunned for a moment. Gently rubbing his empty fingers, he tried to feel that sense of oppression again, but no matter how hard he tried, it seemed that the bracelet had never existed.

Although it couldn't be seen or touched, he knew that the bracelet was still there and hadn't disappeared.

If it were an ordinary bracelet, how could it be so uncontrollable?

Its mystery made him couldn't help doubting the world he was in.

"Is the technology here a bit too advanced?" Reed couldn't help muttering softly. He looked around. The scene of the original dense forest didn't give him too many clues.

However, the sense of confusion in his mind didn't ease with the disappearance of the bracelet.

He couldn't help feeling a bit uneasy. Was this a world with extremely advanced technology or... a realm of fantasy and the supernatural?

These questions intertwined in his mind, giving him a headache.

He wanted to search through the original owner's memories again.

At this moment, a sudden chill swept over his body. Looking down, he saw that the three bloody holes in his chest had completely soaked his clothes. The blood had dyed his shirt red and was still oozing out.

"Damn it!" Reed gritted his teeth, his face as pale as a sheet, and his body was gradually getting colder.

His head, which he had been struggling hard to keep clear before, now became even more muddled.

The pain from the continuous blood loss almost made it impossible for him to stay conscious any longer.

The blood was flowing too fast, and the intense pain from the wounds was unbearable. Meanwhile, his physical strength was quickly draining away.

He staggered and struggled. The vision in front of his eyes gradually became blurred, and he felt as if he had entered a strange mist. His consciousness was becoming more and more scattered, and the coldness of his body seemed to be encroaching on every inch of his skin.

Just then, suddenly, he heard a faint sound of footsteps in the distance, mixed with whispers and urgent shouts.

Reed resisted the urge to lose consciousness. The voices that were gradually becoming clearer in his ears made him feel relieved.

"Reed!"

The voice was not unfamiliar. It seemed to be someone the original owner knew.

In the original owner's memories, he had come out with several friends.

Reed was startled and secretly breathed a sigh of relief— at least, these people were not enemies.

In the distance, the figures of those people were becoming clearer and clearer. He could see them rushing towards this place at a rapid pace.

"I'm here..."

Reed's consciousness became completely blurred. Finally, he couldn't hold on any longer. His body swayed and he completely lost consciousness.

When the group of people came closer and saw his bloodied and mangled appearance, their hearts leaped into their throats in fright.

"Oh my god! What happened? Is Reed dead?"

"What? Reed's dead? Oh no! We're in big trouble now!"

One of them, who seemed to be somewhat rational, quickly stepped forward to check Reed's injuries.

"He's still breathing. What are you standing there for? Does anyone have a healing potion? Take it out quickly!" Alton Nelson snapped at the others beside him in a low voice.

"Oh, right! Healing potion. I've got some!" One of them hurriedly took out three healing potions from his body.

He had spent a large sum of money to get these potions, but he didn't care about that at the moment. If something really happened to Reed Brooks, none of them would get away with it.

He opened the lids and poured all the potions down Reed's throat.

Seeing that the wounds on his body had stopped bleeding, Alton Nelson let out a sigh of relief.

He said to the several stunned people,"Idiots! Send a message for help quickly!"

The scolded ones finally came to their senses. They opened their light brains and sent out the situation here.

The rescue team was really fast. In less than five minutes, a flying car arrived.

The medical staff on it came down, lifted Reed up, put him into the treatment pod, and then flew away directly.

Only six or seven people were left standing there stupidly on the ground.

"What should we do next?" The person who provided the potions asked.

Alton Nelson looked around at the situation."It should be this robot that rushed out and injured Master Chu. Collect all the remains of the robot on the ground and take them with us. When the mayor asks about it, we'll have something to say."

Everyone quickly and clumsily collected all the scattered parts of the robot. Then they drove their flying cars and left as well.

Only a pool of blood was left on the ground.

A few minutes later, two people quickly climbed down from the cliff.
