Amahle's pov
As my father's words hung in the air, I couldn't help but think about the pain that Xolani had inflicted on me. The memory of my mother's brutal murder still lingered, a constant reminder of the trauma that I had endured.
But I had learned to hide my pain behind a beautiful face. I had learned to put on a mask, to pretend that everything was okay, even when it wasn't.
But now, as I looked at my father, I saw the concern etched on his face. He knew that I was still hurting, that the wounds of my past still lingered.
"Amahle, we need to get out of here," my father said, his voice low and urgent. "We need to find a safe place, somewhere that Xolani can't find us."
I nodded, knowing that my father was right. We needed to disappear, to start anew. But as I looked in the mirror, I couldn't help but wonder: would I ever be able to escape the pain behind my beautiful face?
