PAIN BEHIND THE BEAUTIFUL FACE

Amahle's pov
We quickly packed some bags and left the house, not knowing where we were going or what we would do next. My father just kept saying that we had to get as far away from Xolani as possible.
As we drove through the night, I couldn't shake the feeling that Xolani was still out there, watching us, waiting for his chance to strike.
We finally stopped at a small motel on the outskirts of town, where my father paid for a room in cash. He told me to stay inside and lock the door, while he went out to make some phone calls.
I waited anxiously, my ears straining to hear any sound that might indicate Xolani had found us. But the only sound was the creaking of the old motel bed and the distant hum of traffic on the highway.
