Chapter 11 - Night Visit

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the encounter ahead. I had decided to face the Alpha head-on, no matter the outcome. If he wanted to kill me, then so be it. At least I would get to reunite with my parents in the afterlife.

I sat on the sofa, waiting for what felt like an eternity. The silence was oppressive, and my nerves were stretched taut. I had almost convinced myself that the Alpha wasn't coming after all, when I heard a soft knock at the door.

My heart skipped a beat. Huh? Is he here? My previous fear came flooding back, and I felt a wave of panic wash over me.

The knock came again, more insistent this time. I took a deep breath, smoothed out my clothes, and made my way to the door. I opened it, bowing respectfully.

"Good evening, My Alpha," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

As I looked up, I met the Alpha's piercing gaze. His eyes seemed to bore into my soul, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. What did he want from me? And why was he staring at me like that?

He didn't reply, instead walking past me into the apartment. I stepped aside, bowing respectfully again. He chuckled, and I looked up to see him smiling at me.

"You really need to stop bowing all the time," he said, his voice low and smooth.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as he spoke. Wait a minute... Is this the same person who killed my father??? I thought, my mind reeling in shock. How can he be smiling? How can he be so... so... nonchalant? Didn't he know what he had done? Didn't he care?

I felt a wave of anger wash over me, but I pushed it down, not wanting to provoke him. Not yet, at least. I needed to know more about what he wanted, and why he was acting so strangely.

I looked up at him, trying to read his expression. He was still smiling, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He seemed... almost kind. But I knew better. I knew what he was capable of.

"What do you want?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

He raised an eyebrow, his smile faltering for a moment. "Can't I just visit you without wanting something?" he asked, his voice tinged with amusement.

I shook my head, my eyes narrowing. "No," I said. "You're the Alpha. You don't do anything without a reason."

He's known for being ruthless and cold, a leader who rules with an iron fist. His reputation precedes him, and I've heard countless stories about his merciless tactics. And yet, here he is, smiling at me like we're old friends.

It's unnerving, to say the least. I don't know what to make of it. Is this some kind of trick? Is he trying to lull me into a false sense of security?

I study his face, searching for any sign of deceit. But his smile seems genuine, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He looks almost... human.

I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I must be mistaken. This is the Alpha, after all. He's not capable of kindness or compassion. He's a monster, and I need to remember that.

"So, what do you want?" I ask again, trying to keep my voice steady.

He chuckles, his smile growing wider. "I think we're going to get along just fine," he says, his voice low and smooth.

I raise an eyebrow, unsure what to make of his words. Is this a threat, or a promise?
