Chapter 13 - Surprisingly Gentle

He just stood up and slipped into one of the rooms, the house having about four rooms in total. When he came out of the room, I was already in my supposed room, trying to create some distance between us. I had been hoping to avoid any further interactions with him, but it seemed like that wasn't going to be possible. He just knocked gently on the door and asked if I was asleep. I wanted him to leave me alone, so I stayed in bed and pretended to be asleep, hoping he would get the hint and go away.

But instead of him leaving, he opened my door and came into my supposed room. My heart skipped a beat as I felt a surge of panic wash over me. I tried to keep my breathing steady, pretending to be fast asleep, but my mind was racing with worst-case scenarios. What did he want? Why was he coming into my room? And what was I going to do if he discovered my true nature?

As he stepped closer to the bed, I could feel his eyes on me, boring into my skin. I tried to remain still, frozen in place, but my heart was pounding in my chest. I was trapped, and I didn't know how to escape. The Alpha's presence seemed to fill the entire room, making it hard for me to breathe. I was paralyzed with fear, unsure of what to do next.

Is he here to kill me? Has he found out about me? What does he want? Those questions flooded my head, swirling around in a maddening vortex. I tried to keep my breathing steady, to maintain the illusion of sleep, but it was getting harder by the second. My heart was racing, pounding in my chest like a drum, and I started gasping for air in my fake sleep.

My lungs felt constricted, as if an invisible hand was squeezing the air out of them. I was suffocating under the weight of my own fear. The Alpha's presence seemed to be closing in around me, making it hard for me to think straight. I was trapped in a living nightmare, with no escape in sight.

The Alpha took another step closer, his movements eerily silent. I could feel his eyes on me, boring into my skin like cold, calculating knives. My skin crawled with unease, and I had to suppress a shiver. What was he doing? Why was he staring at me like that? And what was going to happen next?

And then, when I thought the worst could happen, he did something that completely threw me off guard. He just gently turned off the table lamp, plunging the room into a soft, dark silence. I felt a jolt of surprise as he reached out and tucked my hair behind my ear, his touch sending shivers down my spine. But it wasn't a rough or menacing touch - it was gentle, almost... tender.

I was even more surprised when he adjusted my duvet, pulling it up to my chin and smoothing out the wrinkles. I was stunned. What was going on? Why was he being so... caring? I had imagined the worst-case scenarios in my head, bracing myself for some kind of attack or confrontation. But this... this was something entirely different.

My mind was reeling as I tried to process what was happening. The Alpha's actions were so contradictory to his fierce and intimidating presence that I couldn't help but wonder if I had misjudged him entirely. Was he really the monster I thought he was? Or was there something more to him, something that I hadn't seen yet?
