Karma always delivers its judgment.
Lying on his deathbed, Matt stared up at the ceiling, that single sentence echoing relentlessly in his mind.
Over the entirety of his life he never once stopped to think about his actions whether morally right or not, nor did he regret any of his decisions.
His short brown hair looked dry and only the rustling of his hospital gown was the proof that he was still alive.
The slight wrinkles on his skin couldn't hide all the wounds that he got from countless life-threatening situations.
' Often people say that evil humans always have bad ends. '
Yet, even after all the setbacks I doubt anyone achieved or enjoyed the life more than me, maybe the judgement is pending for my next life.
Light whispers of the people around could be heard, there were over five women and several young boys and girls in the room.
The 56-year-old, Matt finally turned his gaze towards his family.
I guess, loyalty and love are one thing that I wasn't very lucky with.
Among most of his wives and children, not even a little bit of sorrow could be seen in their eyes, instead, it looked as if they were all just waiting for him to die.
One of his sons was so bored of waiting for the main event that he turned on the television and began to watch a dance program.
" Arthur, what are you doing? " Matt's fifth wife glared at her son, it was still not certain who was going to inherit Matt's vast property.
Then she added: " At least don't watch some dance program. "
" Tsk Yes Mom. " Clicking his tongue, he turned the TV to a news channel.
" Matt Bane, our beloved leader is announced to have passed away just a few minutes ago.
He will always remain in our hearts, the symbol of power and resilience, the leader who ruled our country as the president for two entire generations, in the end, has left us all. "
One of the wives turned the TV off hastily, as all the people around turned their faces in different directions.
Haha, these rascals, if only they cared about me like they do for money.
Matt didn't say anything, he wanted to laugh out but felt too weak and knew there wasn't much time left.
" Matt, I will be there to meet you very soon. " The 1st wife, Mirelle was the only one who seemed sad.
Sigh, I wish I could spend more time with my lovely Mirelle, she is the only one who truly ever understood me.
Raising his hand with difficulty, Matt extended his hand towards Mirelle who stepped forward and got closer to him, her eyes filled with tears.
Goodbye, my love.
Matt caressed her cheek, despite being in her early fifties she still looked as gorgeous to him as the first time he saw her.
Tears trickled down her cheeks and fell over his hand.
Matt blinked his eyes a couple of times, as he soon lost all the strength in his hand, which almost dropped down on the bed but was caught midway by Mirelle, who held it close to her face.
Matt's breathing got slower and slower, he could barely feel anything, no sound or light, the only sensation remaining was the warmth of her soft cheeks and her tears.
Maybe I wasn't that unlucky after all.
Finally, his eyes closed forever, and Mirelle's cries filled the silent room.
...
As his eyes closed and darkness consumed his sight, Matt felt as if he was about to go into a deep slumber.
KNOCK KNOCK
He barely heard the light sound of knocking, but for some reason, his back had started to hurt a little bit all of a sudden.
Matt felt happy that he was able to have a peaceful death, surrounded by his family.
Unlike most of his friends who died brutally in wars or other events or the people who die slowly and painfully from diseases.
KNOCK KNOCK
' Maybe the doctor has come to check up on me. '
Matt felt tired, several of his injuries had turned him too weak.
Even though he had to leave everything behind, all his money, family, power and fame but he was still happy, to be able to live a life where he didn't regret anything, that isn't what most people could achieve.
BANG BANG BANG
The sound got louder, making it difficult for Matt to sleep peacefully.
Sigh, can't someone just open the door, and let me die in peace at least?
BANG BANG BANG BANG
The banging on the door didn't stop, it brought a sharp pain to Matt's head.
No longer able to endure it, he opened his eyes and spoke:
" Can't someone just open the door and why is the doctor so desperate to see me- Huh? "
Suddenly he felt that something was wrong, how was he able to even speak...
Matt tried to raise his body and unlike his expectations, he was able to sit up without any difficulty.
What's... going on?!!
He looked around and felt angry for a moment that all his family had already left him, not even Mirelle was there.
But then he noticed that it was not even the hospital room.
Matt observed his surroundings, ignoring the non-stop banging on the door.
He was inside a small cubic room, the walls were painted in white.
Under him was a wooden bed just enough to fit a single person, there was only a blanket on top of it, not even a mattress.
So that's where the back pain came from.
Beside the bed, there was a small table that looked fairly old and seemed to have served many owners.
On the table, a few sets of clothes were neatly arranged. There was a book, a round stone that was probably used as a paperweight, a pen and a lamp with barely any oil in it.
On the wall to his right, there was a window and above it, some kind of religious symbol was hanging which was probably made of steel or some other metal.
There were two swords crossed at the centre and from the hilt of the swords, it seemed as if roots were growing out that extended and circled around the swords, meeting them at their tips.
Matt turned his head backwards and his gaze landed on a mirror that was only enough to reflect his face.
That's... Why do I look like that?
Looking back at him from the mirror was a teenage boy of age fourteen or fifteen, with short black hair and deep brown eyes.
His skin was smooth and pale, just as a normal teenager would have.
Aside from that, his appearance seemed ordinary, neither did he look bad out nor would he turn heads on the street.
While he was making sense of the situation, several lines began to float in front of him.

But Matt could barely focus on these messages, he suddenly felt a piercing pain in his head.
He felt dizzy as strange sensations passed through his mind, and memories worth more than fourteen years rushed into his brain.
BANG BANG BANG
The door was on the verge of breaking under the constant assault by the barrage of punches and kicks.
