Although she felt a little embarrassed after shouting, well, since she wanted to quickly pack up her things, she could only bear with it.
Sure enough, after a while, Gwen started feeling some vibrations in the ground. It was almost imperceptible at the beginning until it became clear in the end.
When she saw them, Gwen was surprised that all of them were almost normal wolves, apart from the one at the front, probably the Alpha and leader of the pack.
How different was he from a normal wolf? He was taller than Gwen, and his length was probably between three to five meters.
This could no longer be called a wolf but rather a monster. Accompanying him was a pack of wolves that probably numbered about 20, more than an average pack.
When Gwen saw him, she wasn't scared but rather excited. The smile on her face perfectly reflected her emotions. As if sensing her sentiment, the Alpha wolf growled.
She raised her hand, signaling for Luna and Naca to wait, before walking toward the pack. As if feeling her challenge, the Alpha wolf also walked forward.
It was truly intimidating. All the playfulness on Gwen's face faded, and she became serious. It was her first true fight, one where she could die if she wasn't careful, instead of a normal sparring session.
The wolf was also wary of Gwen. His instincts told him that this human was dangerous, but as a leader, he had to face any challenges, especially this one-on-one fight.
Although Gwen felt that the best solution now would be to shoot him with her spider-web, she didn't do it. Instead, she lunged at him directly, throwing a punch.
Unexpectedly, despite his size, the wolf retained his greatest advantage: his speed. He seemed to be faster than Gwen. Fortunately, her Spider-Sense flared up as he came at her, and she quickly dodged.
Since he came with great speed and was probably strong, the impact would have likely put her at a disadvantage.
Thus, the first round ended with each of them having a rough calculation of the other's strength.
Gwen felt even more excited. Although the wolf's speed was impressive, his size made him more predictable and easier to hit. Her greatest advantages in this fight were her reflexes, Spider-Sense, and flexibility.
The wolf lunged forward again, but this time, he had a clear goal. Gwen could feel that he was aiming for her throat.
This time, she stayed in place and only dodged to the right side when he almost touched her. Then, as she prepared to give him a solid punch, her Spider-Sense flared again, warning her of danger.
She didn't hesitate and jumped back. Sure enough, when she stopped, she saw some kind of energy coursing through the wolf's body.
Gwen wanted to ask, "Why the f*ck is he using Kumo's Lightning Release Chakra Mode?" That's right; what she was seeing was undoubtedly lightning crackling around his body.
If she had landed that punch, the lightning might not have been enough to injure her, but as she was unprepared, it would have stunned her for one to two seconds—enough for the wolf to land a hit on her.
The Alpha wolf was truly cunning. He didn't show all his cards at the beginning but waited for just the right moment. As expected in a true fight, one could never let their guard down.
Gwen's excitement only grew as she studied the wolf's new state. Lightning danced across its fur, crackling with raw energy, and its eyes gleamed with intelligence and challenge.
"Alright, big guy," Gwen muttered under her breath, clenching her fists. "You've got some tricks. Let's see how well you play this game."
The Alpha wolf didn't waste any time. With a deep growl, it charged at her again, faster than before. The crackling energy around it seemed to boost its already impressive speed, and Gwen could barely react in time.
Her Spider-Sense flared, warning her of an incoming strike to her side. She twisted her body mid-air, narrowly avoiding a swipe of razor-sharp claws that could have easily torn through her.
Now that the wolf was going all out, how could she be polite? Landing on the ground in a crouch, Gwen immediately retaliated. She shot a web at the wolf's hind leg, aiming to immobilize it.
He was caught off guard by Gwen's web, thinking that, like himself, she could only do close-range attacks. But even so, he felt that his lightning would be enough to burn through the webbing.
Seeing this, Gwen knew it was her chance to land a successful hit on him. She directly jumped at him, knowing that once he was tangled in the web, it would truly restrain him.
That's the organic webbing, after all—something that Spider-Man, despite his weight, could use to swing through buildings without a problem.
Leaping into the air, Gwen aimed a powerful punch toward the side of the wolf's head. The Alpha twisted at the last second, trying to counter with a swipe of his claws, but Gwen was ready. Her Spider-Sense screamed, and she adjusted mid-flight, spinning to avoid the blow while still delivering a solid strike to his jaw.
You have to know that taking her full blow, even Makarov—when not using his magic power—had to slide back. Let alone the wolf, who couldn't muster the strength to resist.
The Alpha was sent flying and didn't stop until he crashed into a tree. Seconds later, he let out a pained yelp, shaking his head to clear the dizziness.
Blood leaked from his mouth, and Gwen didn't doubt that he had sustained internal injuries. Seeing the Alpha at a disadvantage, the other wolves growled as they watched. But when the Alpha looked at them and growled back, they stopped.
Gwen couldn't help but recall a quote she didn't remember clearly, something about how in a fight between the strong, it either ends instantly or lasts for a very long time.
Thinking about it carefully, if she knew all the wolf's abilities and he knew all of hers, the fight might really turn into a stamina competition.
Unfortunately for the wolf, he didn't know about her spider web, and she caught him by surprise, which changed the outcome. All of this was to say that in a fight, information is very important. It's too important.
Now, although the fight wasn't over, unless she messed up, Gwen had already won by injuring him. That was also likely the reason the pack wanted to intervene, but he stopped them.
He was the Alpha, after all. How could he afford to lose in a one-on-one fight against a human—a female human who had provoked him, no less?
His intelligence wasn't on par with a human's. At the same time, this fight gave Gwen cowboy vibes—one where it was decided round by round. She didn't like that and wanted a Dragon Ball-type fight instead.
Now Gwen understood even more the importance of weapons. If she had a sword, then during the last opening, it wouldn't have been internal injuries that the wolf suffered—he would have lost his head and died.
Unfortunately, she couldn't buy one in the Marvel world, as it would be considered her weapon, and she didn't have the money in this world to buy one.
It didn't matter. After this fight, she could use her rewards to buy herself a sword, as well as armor, clothes, boots, and all the necessities. She shouldn't keep fighting in sportswear and sneakers; she wasn't Gohan, after all.
The Alpha knew he couldn't waste time. He was the one injured, and he didn't have high regeneration. Every second wasted would only make him weaker and endure more pain.
He charged forward but slower than before. Even from his face, one could tell he was enduring the pain. Gwen could see his trajectory more clearly this time, and her Spider-Sense didn't issue as many warnings as before.
Still, Gwen knew she couldn't take his attack head-on. She wasn't that reckless, after all. So she swiftly moved to the side, evading his desperate charge. Since he didn't want to waste time, why should she accommodate him?
The Alpha wolf stumbled slightly, his movements hampered by the pain, but he looked at Gwen as if to say, Why are you hiding?
Gwen took a deep breath, focused her mind, and ignored him. They continued like this for a few more rounds until she analyzed his pattern, noting how his movements became more predictable with each passing second.
"All right, big guy, let's finish this," she muttered.
As the wolf turned to face her again, Gwen launched another web, this time aiming for his front paw. The Alpha tried to dodge, but his injury slowed him down, and the webbing stuck fast. Before he could react, Gwen darted forward, leaping into the air with a calculated spin.
Her fist came down with precision, striking the wolf squarely on the crown of his head. The force of the blow echoed through the clearing, and the Alpha collapsed with a heavy thud.
With the injuries from before and the ones he sustained in the last few rounds, taking another full-force blow to the head made it inevitable that he collapsed.
END OF THE CHAPTER
I, Gloryhunter, officially hate writing fight scenes. It's a pain to think about all the details. Anyway, I don't know if you'll like it or not, but I guess the only thing I can do is keep practicing, writing, and watching fight scenes until I get good at it.
