Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: When Naca Drinks, Stuff Gets Weird

After approving each other, Gwen looked at MJ, who gave her a nod. Smiling, Gwen said, "Alright, MJ and I are very impressed with your skills. Would you be willing to join us?"

It wasn't just a one-sided decision—they had approved of her, but that didn't guarantee she felt the same.

Thankfully, Gwen's concerns were unfounded, as Lorna stretched out her hand and said, "That's great. I believe that if we work together, we might one day become the biggest band. I'm very happy to join you."

Lorna's extended hand was clearly an invitation for a handshake, much like the way businessmen seal a deal. Gwen eagerly accepted it with a bright smile.

A small weight lifted from Gwen's heart. Not only was Lorna an excellent guitarist, but she was also someone capable of protecting the band if they faced trouble in the future—it was the Marvel world, after all. This meant Gwen wouldn't have to step in and risk exposing herself.

After that, Lorna asked a question she had been curious about: "So, what exactly is the name of the band?"

Lorna's question really hit a nerve between the two; they had been thinking about this, with Gwen giving many propositions like Nirvana, The Queen, etc., but they still hadn't decided.

MJ sighed, thinking about it, and replied: "It still hasn't been decided. The name is very important, after all, and can't be taken lightly."

Lorna nodded while secretly breathing a sigh of relief. She had seen many bands with strange names and also felt that this matter must be taken seriously and not half-heartedly.

After that, the three didn't dwell on the matter but decided that it would eventually be resolved when the time came.

For the rest of the time, they continued practicing. After all, while all of them were individually skilled, they didn't know each other's abilities well enough yet.

Gwen was secretly happy that MJ was so absorbed she didn't ask about the songs she had promised. But speaking of that, she knew she had to decide.

Although Gwen had a huge and possibly limitless library of songs in her mind, she wanted to carefully decide which ones to use.

Some songs depended on timing, propaganda, and the era. Right now, country songs, rock music, and rap were the most popular. Even if Gwen liked electronic songs more, it wasn't really the moment for them.

The practice lasted a long time. It wasn't until MJ was tired that they stopped—Lorna and Gwen could be called Iron Women in terms of endurance, after all.

After that, nothing important happened aside from MJ being the center of attention while Lorna and Gwen shared their points of view on the situation.

They even talked about current celebrities, and if talking about celebrities, one couldn't help but mention Tony Stark. He was either sleeping with an actress today or a model tomorrow.

After the three parted ways, Gwen had lunch with her family, then returned to her room under the guise of studying for school the next day.

Of course, this wasn't really the case. She wanted to rest a little before heading to the Fairy Tail world later.

Since coming to this world, she had been juggling school, traveling to the Fairy Tail world, jogging, etc., and she hadn't slept for more than five hours.

Even if the Room Dimension kept her body and mind refreshed, Gwen didn't want to become a robot. Sleeping and eating were two things she never wanted to give up.

It wasn't until three in the morning that she woke up. Indeed, her body had returned to peak condition. Entering the Room Dimension, the little drowsiness she felt disappeared. Finally, she changed clothes and returned to the Fairy Tail world.

Fortunately, there didn't seem to be any strange plotlines unfolding. When she opened the portal in front of the village chief's home, the villagers were gathered and feasting.

Gwen stepped out of the portal, her appearance drawing a few curious glances. They didn't panic, as they had seen her earlier opening the portal when she left.

Looking at the scene, Gwen felt a little strange. This was her first time at such a camp, even in her past life. She hadn't had friends to experience something like this with.

It was great here. Even the air felt fresher—maybe because of the magic power, or Ethernano, as they called it.

Naca and Luna stood out in the crowd because their clothes seemed more modern, and Gwen noticed that Naca appeared a little drunk.

She wasn't surprised. Yesterday, she had learned that Naca enjoyed drinking but didn't have a good tolerance. Luna, on the other hand, wasn't particularly interested in drinking but had a high tolerance.

Gwen approached the lively crowd, waving at Naca and Luna. Naca, noticing her arrival, stumbled slightly as she raised her mug with a cheerful grin. "Gwen! You're back! Come, come, join us!"

From her, Gwen could already see the shadow of Fairy Tail's future drinking queen. Then again, thinking about it carefully, 90% of Fairy Tail's members were drunkards—men and women with troubled pasts and some kind of trauma.

The two women didn't know Gwen's thoughts. They were just sincerely happy to be with friends and family. Even Luna smiled warmly, saying, "Yeah, come on. The meat here is really good."

Gwen smiled and joined them. As for whether she was old enough to drink? Please—a certain drunkard queen started at about twelve. No one cared about such things in this world.

Sitting between Naca and Luna, Gwen grabbed a plate of freshly roasted meat from the table. She couldn't help but tease, "And here I was worrying about you, but it seems I was overthinking things."

A burst of laughter escaped from the drunk Naca as she replied, "Huh, speaking of it, your magic is a little strange. I obviously can't feel any magic power from you, but with your strength and ability to open portals, how do you do it?"

If she were sober, Naca wouldn't have asked such a sensitive question, but her curiosity got the better of her.

Luna, who had been silent, reprimanded her lightly, "Naca, don't ask things that might make others uncomfortable. It's rude." She then looked at Gwen apologetically. "Sorry about that. She's had too much to drink."

Gwen chuckled, easing the tension. She had anticipated this question a long time ago. Before absorbing someone from the Fairy Tail world, she had known people would doubt her, especially if she appeared on the radar of the Magic Council.

She replied, "In fact, my magic is a little strange. Currently, I can use the abilities of animals—a little like Take-Over magic, but mine is permanent. As for the portal, you can think of it as some kind of technology. But, well, family secret."

After sharing her secret, Gwen observed their reactions. Naca seemed to be falling asleep, while Luna appeared deep in thought.

Luna pondered Gwen's abilities. If it was permanent Take-Over, did that mean she would gradually acquire the abilities of all animals? If so, that was terrifying.

Not only that, but the technology to open portals anywhere meant very few people could ever defeat her. At the same time, Luna felt relieved—it seemed Fairy Tail was about to welcome a new S-Class mage.

Even though she had some questions, Luna didn't ask. It wasn't her personality to pry. The conversation soon shifted to lighter topics, with everyone laughing and enjoying the food.

For Gwen, it was refreshing to enjoy a different atmosphere from New York. Here, she didn't have to worry about being monitored by SHIELD or anyone else.

She could truly be herself without pretending or restraining her abilities.

Later, Gwen began to gather information from the villagers, learning about the legends of this world. It wasn't until very late that the atmosphere wound down, as most people grew sleepy.

Before leaving, Gwen said goodbye, promising to return the next day.
