As soon as we arrived back home, Cal had led me back to the room."I'll be right back," he said hastily."Wait, where are you going?"He seemed to pause for a moment, hesitating. "It's none of your concern." He said quietly.Before he left, he seemed to fast some sort of spell, a bright blue light filling the entrance of the room briefly."Well what was that for?" I asked."Oh nothing much, just to make sure you don't get yourself into any trouble." He said before farting out of the room.Cal POV:I walked to my fathers room, I purpously took the longer way, I knew he'd be filled with fury once he heard the news, the shadows had never dared come this close before. But I knew that it was necessary to tell him this, the safety of the kingdom depended on it.It was quite concerning to see this happen. Back in the dark era 400 years ago thousands had been brutally murdered by the shadows, my ancestor Kalestos barely able to set a powerful spell to keep the city and nearby forest safe, killing himself in the process.But that was long ago, the spell clearly losing its power over the years, some of the more powerful shadow beings learning they could pass through the now frail protecting spell.I finally neared my fathers chambers, massive oak doors with golden lining towered above me as I got to the entrance.I hesitated, I knew he despised speaking to me most of the time, even if this was quite the important matter.I knocked on the door quietly. I heard his foorsteps sounding on the floorboards, he muttered to himself angrily about who the fuck was disturbing him.The doors swung open."Oh my son, what is it now?!" He snapped impatiently."Father this is important. I was in the forest... one of them got in."He raised his eyebrow, a present aura of fear coming from him. "You don't mean the...""It's the shadows, I saw one earlier, at the southern pond."His face contorted in anger. "Fucking damnit!" My father shouted uncontrollably. "Get the hell out of here now, I must deal with this!" He snapped."But father..."He suddenly turned around, moving quicker then I had ever seen him move, and struck me on the face. My head snapped to the side, pain sparking through me, as the king, he was much stronger than me, probably more than anyone in the kingdom.I stumbled back, reeling from what he had just done. He was already striding off the other direction.My face throbbed in pain. It was a miracle my jaw wasn't broken though it was in great pain.I turned around, almost running back to the room.Hyrus POV:It was only after about 15 minutes that Cal had burst in through the doors, the left side of his face red, he clutched his jaw in pain.He slammed the door, with such great force I felt a nearby painting on the wall rattle. Cal's eyes clenched shut.I hesitated to go near him, he looked furious.His eyes then bolted open and he slammed his fist on the wall, the wall shaking from the power. His breath was loud and his lip seemed to curl in fury.After a moment, he slid to the ground, his face in his hands."Shit, I am sorry human, i didn't mean to have such an outburst." He said tiredly."I-it's alright Cal, are you okay, did something happen?"He sighed angrily. "My father is such a dickhead! He lets his rage control him, he has no fucking respect for me not anyone." He paused. "It's just so tiring being in his presence, even if he is my father."I didn't know what to say to that. I had no memory of ever having parents because of the memory loss I had probably suffered before I had gotten here.I walked towards him, sitting next to him and placing my arm on his shoulder."It'll be alright, your almost able to rule, from what I can tell of your age, you won't have to put up with him for much longer."He sighed. "I suppose that you are right." He said lifting his head up from his hands.He than wrapped his thick arms around my shoulders, damn I had forgotten how affectionate his species seemed to be. Cal muzzled his head into my neck.This was still very strange to me of course, but I felt a strange feeling, one I wasn't quite familiar with. My heart was beating a bit faster, my breathing a bit more intense.I put my hands around his back, stroking his grey coat of fur. Cal made a noise similar to purring, as if he were a cat-like species instead.He seemed to hug me tighter then, pushing me into the wall suddenly. He was quite strong so I felt the force as he pushed me to the wall, raising his head to his eyes could meet mine, his stunning emerald eyes."C-Cal what are you doing?" I asked.But I didn't want him to stop, what ever this was, I wanted him to keep going.He chuckled. "Well what do you want me to do little human?" He asked playfully cocking his head.He moved his hands up from my shoulders up to my face, smiling dominantly at home, a smirk on his wolfy face.I felt him getting closer to me, his face bearing mine. I felt so damn nervous in this moment, but it didn't feel like a bad thing, no. I felt almost ecstatic.I felt him beginning to move closer to me, finally I felt his muzzle press into my lips.
