Chereads / Master Lucas's Pet / Chapter 8 - chapter 8

Chapter 8 - chapter 8

After Lady Victoria walked away the students returned to their previous activities.

Emily stared at Penelope with so much surprise and Admiration."that was a different person." She said between giggles.

Penelope chuckled, smiling mischievously. "I have my moments, Emily. But I must say, I'm impressed. You held your own against Lady Victoria's condescending attitude."

Emily shook her head, still grinning. "I think you're the one who did all the work, Penelope. I was just watching in awe."

Penelope waved her hand dismissively. "It's nothing, really. I've had to deal with Lady Victoria's tantrums before, one day after class she had walked up to me after class"...and warned me to stay away from Lucas," Penelope continued, a hint of amusement in her voice. "Can you believe it? She was trying to mark her territory, even though she didn't even have the courage to approach him herself."

Emily's eyes widened in surprise. "That's ridiculous. What did you say to her?"

Penelope's smile turned sly. "Oh, I just told her that I wasn't interested in Lucas, and that she should focus on getting his attention herself instead of trying to intimidate me."

Emily giggled. "I bet that went over well."

Penelope chuckled. "Let's just say that Lady Victoria didn't take it very well. But I didn't back down. I stood my ground, and Robert showed up just in time to see Lady Victoria trying to bully me."

Emily's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What happened then?"

Penelope leaned in, a conspiratorial look on her face. "Well, Robert stepped in and defended me, of course. He told Lady Victoria to leave me alone, and she backed down. But not before Robert made it clear that he wouldn't tolerate her behavior."

Emily's admiration for Penelope and Robert grew. "Robert seem to be quite helpful to you sometimes."

Penelope nodded."tho he was a nuisance sometimes ,he is also of good use." Penelope muttered more to herself than Emily.

"Shall we head to the library now ,David must probably be waiting for us." Emily said at the end of breakfast.

Penelope checked her pocket watch and frowned. "Actually, Emily, I have something I need to take care of first. Why don't you head to the library without me? I'll catch up with you later."

Emily nodded, and Penelope gave her directions to the library. "Just head down the main corridor, take a left at the second staircase, and you'll see the library doors straight ahead. You can't miss it."

Emily set off towards the library, feeling a bit more confident navigating the school's corridors. However, she took a wrong turn somewhere along the way and found herself lost in a maze of identical-looking corridors.

After a few minutes of wandering, Emily finally stumbled upon a sign that read "Library" with an arrow pointing down a nearby hallway. She breathed a sigh of relief and followed the sign, her footsteps echoing off the stone walls.

As she pushed open the library doors, Emily was struck by the eerie silence that greeted her. The library was a vast, cavernous space with rows upon rows of towering bookshelves that seemed to stretch up to the ceiling. But despite its grandeur, the library was deserted, with not a single student or librarian in sight.

The only sound was the soft creaking of the old wooden bookshelves and the faint rustle of pages turning in the wind. Emily felt a shiver run down her spine as she stepped further into the library, her eyes adjusting to the dim light that filtered through the stained glass windows.

As Emily wandered deeper into the library, her footsteps echoed off the stone walls. She ran her fingers over the spines of the books, feeling a sense of wonder at the vast collection. Suddenly, she heard a faint noise coming from the last shelf of the library. It sounded like someone was whispering, but she couldn't quite make out the words.

Emily's curiosity got the better of her, and she tiptoed towards the sound, trying not to make any noise. As she approached the shelf, she saw a figure huddled in the corner, partially hidden by the shadows.

Emily's heart skipped a beat as she realized it was Lucas, the infamous "Lucifer" of the school. He was leaning in close to a girl, his lips pressed against her neck. Emily felt a shiver run down her spine as she watched, transfixed.

But as she looked closer, she realized that Lucas wasn't biting the girl or drinking her blood. He was simply drinking from her neck, and the girl seemed to be in a trance-like state.

After a few moments, Lucas withdrew from the girl's neck and looked her straight in the eye. "Nothing happened," he said, his voice low and hypnotic.

The girl nodded, still in a daze, and then turned and walked away. Lucas watched her go, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he was calculating something.

Emily turned around planning to quietly sneak away but a voice stopped her."you sure have the nerve to ruin my leisure times, did you also mistake mistakenly stumble this time."

Emily quickly stood on guard."this is the library not some private space , it's not my fault that you are messing around here too."

Lucas smirked as he walked to her."so tell me ,would you love to let me take a sip now since you have interrupted my meal again."

Emily quickly took a step back."no ,I didn't interrupt your meal,I clearly saw you dismiss that lady."Emily's voice died down a bit."you compelled her."

Lucas's smile turned to a loud chuckle."well you are a smart one I see."

" I thought they were many ladies willing to let you take their blood ,why would you compell an innocent student into giving you blood." Emily questioned still not letting her guard down.

Lucas's laughter died down, and he regarded Emily with a serious expression. "You really are quite bold, aren't you?" he said, his voice low and even. "Most people wouldn't dare to question me like that."

Emily stood her ground, despite feeling a shiver run down her spine. "I'm just curious," she said, trying to sound nonchalant. "And I don't think it's right to compel someone into giving you their blood."

Lucas raised an eyebrow, seemingly amused by Emily's audacity. "And what do you know about vampires and our needs?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Emily hesitated, realizing that she may have overstepped her bounds. But she refused to back down. "I know that compelling someone is wrong," she said firmly. "And I think you should respect people's boundaries."

Lucas's expression changed, and for a moment, Emily saw a glimmer of something else in his eyes. It was a flicker of surprise, perhaps even admiration. But it was quickly replaced by his usual smirk.
