Chapter 11 - chapter 11

Emily got into the carriage with the help of the coachmen who stood next to the carriage, this was her first time stepping inside a private Carriage she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed.

The inside was very nice ,the sit were soft and was red with a pinkish hue ,so was the pattern design on the carriage wall ,they were adorned beautiful and one could tell they defined feminity, the ai r was thick with the scent of polished leather and wood ,creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Soft golden even sunset light ,peeked in through the small opening on the carriage opening, it perched on the green carpet floor that looked very soft and cozy.

As the Carriage began riding ,Penelope asked Emily, "Are you okay? You seem a bit quiet."

Emily nodded, "Yes, I'm fine. I was just thinking...I've never been in a private carriage before. I've always taken the public carriage to get where I need to go."

Penelope's eyes widened slightly, "Really? I've never taken a public carriage before."

Emily smiled wistfully, "I guess it's nice to have a carriage all to yourself, with no one to disturb you."

Penelope's expression turned thoughtful, and she leaned in closer to Emily. "Actually, I prefer it when someone is with me in the carriage," she said, her voice a little wistful. "I envy those people who ride the public carriage, they seem to have so much freedom. I wish I could ride with a friend, like you, and just enjoy the scenery without anyone bothering us."

Emily's eyes widened in surprise, she hadn't expected Penelope to say that. "Really? But I thought you'd love having a carriage all to yourself," Emily replied, curiosity getting the better of her.

Penelope nodded, "Yes, it's nice, but sometimes it feels lonely. I like having someone to talk to, to share the experience with. It makes the journey more enjoyable." The carriage rode smoothly along the winding road, the sound of the horses' hooves and the creaking of the carriage's leather upholstery filling the air.

"How long wound it take to get to your home.?" Emily asked.

Penelope took out her pocket watch."it's 6:13 in the evening,I believe we would be there before it clocks on seven."

As Penelope put her pocket watch away, Emily gazed out the window, watching the rolling hills and lush green forests pass by. The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink, a breathtaking sunset unfolding before her eyes.

"It's so beautiful," Emily breathed, her nose pressed against the windowpane.

Penelope smiled, following Emily's gaze. "Yes, it is. I love this time of day, when the world seems to slow down and the sky is set ablaze."

The carriage continued on its gentle journey, the sound of the horses' hooves and the creaking of the leather upholstery lulling Emily into a state of relaxed contentment. She felt grateful for this opportunity to spend time with Penelope, and to experience the luxury of riding in a private carriage.

As the carriage rounded a bend in the road, Emily caught sight of a grand estate in the distance. The mansion was imposing, with tall spires and grand archways, its stone façade glowing warmly in the fading light.

"Is that your home?" Emily asked, her eyes wide with wonder.

Penelope nodded, a smile spreading across her face. "Yes, that's where I live. Welcome to The Maxwell Manor,my home."

As the Carriage came to stop in front of the grand Mansion ,"we are here." Penelope said as they got down.

The giant entrance door swung open and two women stepped on with big smiles I their faces, the other woman had a long curly black hair with striking red eyes ,her lips were adorned with beautiful red rose lip balm ,her cheekbones were high and defined outlined perfectly and beautiful, she wore an elegant dark red dress that complimented her deathly pale skin color.

"Penny dear ,you are all grown up now." Lady Camila said as she patted Penelope's back.

"You are very right Mila, our dear Penelope seems to have bloomed in two months." Penelope's mother chimed in ,her name was Janine.

Penelope chuckled like a child ,turning to Emily."mama ,Aunt ,this is my Friend Emily Patton."

Lady Camila's striking red eyes narrowed slightly as she gazed at Emily. "Patton, you say?" she repeated, her voice low and husky. "Are you related to Duke Patton of Oakwood?"

Emily shook her head, feeling a little intimidated by Lady Camila's piercing gaze. "No, I'm not related to him," she replied, trying to sound confident.

Lady Janine, Penelope's mother, smiled warmly at Emily. "Well, it's lovely to meet you, Emily,we are happy Penny is making friends and not sticking to Robert." Janine said with a soft laughter

Lady Camila laughed too." That's right , you are welcome to our household ,come in you young ladies must be tired."

Emily was a little awestruck by the grandeur of the interior ,the walls were adorned with beautiful family portraits, the one that caught Emily's attention was the one of Penelope and Robert ,they both looked a little bit younger in the painting, Penelope stood next to Robert ,she wore a light blue floral dress that matched her blue eyes , Robert stood beside her,in the painting it seemed as tho he was patting her hair as he looked at her small frame.

"Penelope, take Emily to the guest room ,so you both could freshen up and come down before dinner." Lady Camila said to Penelope.

Penelope modded with a smile."come-on Emily, let's go."

Emily followed Penelope up the grand staircase, admiring the paintings on the wall, they reached the third floor and Penelope lead her through a long hallway lined with doors.

Penelope opened the second door to the left."This is the only clean guestroom cause it's the most used ,you would have to manage it." Penelope said with an apologetic voice.
