"Good night.",Emily said to Lucas not waiting for him to respond before she dashed out into the hallway ,she walked quickly her footsteps echoing of the walls.
Emily took the turn she had remembered, she kept walking hoping to see the stairs and return to the guest room ,but it seemed the more she walked the deeper she got,she noticed that the walls shadows seemed longer and the candles lit wherever she was ,was very little, but she didn't know what pushed her to keep walking ,the air around her also grew very thick ,she could hear herself breathing, she heard the sound of door creaking and turned around but they was nobody there, her eyes scanned the corridor hoping for a movement but there none ,she stood waiting maybe someone would open a door, but nothing happened.
As she stood there in fear ,she suddenly felt a crushing sensation in her chest ,she could barely breathe ,she clung onto her chest panting for air but nothing was working ,she opened her mouth to scream but nothing was coming out,it seemed as tho invisible hands were squeezing airs out of her lungs.
In the middle of her breakdown Emily saw her self in a locked room,no it wasn't this present her it was her young self ,she seemed to be as of the age of nine or ten there ,she was laying on one side of the room cuddling her self up as was shaking in absolute terror ,her blonde hair that she had always remembered to be tall was short and dirty it was as tho it had been carelessly cut,it was dark in the room but she could see the injuries on her own body, the room had a pungent smell that she could barely hold in,her small self lay there closing her eyes ,Emily could see the fear in her own face, she had always been afraid of a dark open space since her young age,she wanted to run to this younger her and help her knowing what she may be feeling that moment ,but she felt someone was restricting her movement.
Suddenly the door opened and somoen walked in ,a thick fog covered this person's face, but they walked to the small her ,squatted before her,she couldn't see the person's face because of the fog that covered their face ,but she felt nothing but positive vibes from this person ,he didn't have any dark intentions towards the young her.
"It's alright." Emily heard a soft voice whisper to her ear,she also felt someone stroking her back,at first she taught it was her imagination.
"It's alright, I'm here." Emily heard the voice again
As Emily heard the soothing voice, she slowly opened her eyes to see Lucas holding her close, his arms wrapped tightly around her. She was still panting, trying to catch her breath, but the crushing sensation in her chest was beginning to subside.
Lucas's face was etched with concern, his eyes scanning hers as if searching for something. "Emily, are you okay?" he whispered, his voice low and gentle.
Emily nodded slowly, still trying to process what had just happened. She felt a sense of relief wash over her, knowing that Lucas was there, holding her, keeping her safe.
As she looked up at Lucas, she saw the same positive vibes she had felt from the mysterious person in her flashback. It was as if Lucas was radiating warmth and comfort, enveloping her in a sense of security.
"It's alright," Lucas whispered again, his breath caressing her ear. "I'm here."
Emily felt a lump form in her throat as she gazed up at Lucas. She knew that she had to tell him what had just happened, but the words caught in her throat. All she could do was nod, feeling a sense of gratitude towards this man who seemed to be her anchor in the midst of chaos.
Lucas lifted her off the ground walking towards the stairs, "Do you want to return to your room?" he asked, his voice gentle. Emily shook her head, feeling a sudden urge for fresh air. "I...I need some air," she stammered. Lucas nodded understandingly and changed direction, leading her towards a door that Emily hadn't noticed before. He pushed it open, revealing a set of stairs that led up to the rooftop.
The cool night air enveloped them as they stepped out onto the rooftop, the stars twinkling above like diamonds. Emily took a deep breath, feeling the tension in her body begin to ease, after a while lots of moment she suddenly remembered Lucas still had her in his arms, and she blushed knowing how close they were right now."you can put me down." She whispered.
Lucas nodded and gently put her on her feet.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, Emily felt a little more composed, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of vulnerability. She looked up at Lucas, who was watching her with an unreadable expression. The moonlight cast a soft glow on his face, making his features seem even more chiseled.
"Better?" Lucas asked, his voice low and gentle.
Emily nodded, feeling a little silly for still being shaken. "Yeah, thanks," she whispered.
Lucas smiled and took a step closer to her. "You're welcome," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "I'm not going anywhere, Emily. You're safe with me."
Emily felt a flutter in her chest as she gazed up at Lucas. She knew she should probably take a step back, create some distance between them, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot. All she could do was nod, feeling a sense of gratitude and... something else, something she couldn't quite explain..
"Does this always happen to you."? Lucas asked.
Emily turned to him gently shaking her head."since I was young I have this fear off open dark spaces,my parents said I developed this phobia when I was young I don't have the slightest memory of it,but I also avoided dark open spaces,I had had minor phobia attacks but this is the first time I'm having a breakdown to the point of hallucinating."
