Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: THE PAST KNOCK

Wallace finally left the Vicarious Vision game. The atmosphere when he arrived and when he left was vastly different. Everyone was downcast when he arrived, but when he was leaving, they all followed him to the car, including the receptionist, looking at him respectfully.

He had finally signed the contract and handed over the software for his game. Sheldon would work on learning his language while test-running the game. Williams would redesign the characters, and Elizabeth would research and start planning for the optimization phase. They told him the game would be ready in two months at most.

While they worked, the receptionist would be responsible for their movements and finding an office in the heart of the city. She would also work with Joss to discuss launching the project. Wallace had started another phase of his plan that day.

It was already afternoon, so he decided to stop at a restaurant to eat. Just as he decided, he received a call from Emilia.

"Hello," her voice came from the other end of the line.

"Good afternoon," he greeted.

"Have you taken lunch?" she asked.

"No," he replied.

"Let's go eat lunch together. There's a Ghanaian restaurant here in New York, and I'll pick you up if it's fine by you," she said.

"No problem," he agreed.

He drove back to his apartment, and just as he was driving into his compound, Emilia arrived. He didn't go into the house again. He walked out, and

"Good afternoon," she smiled. He opened the door and entered the car.

"Did you go somewhere?" she asked.

"Hmm, I went to Vicarious Vision," he replied

. "Which company is that?" she asked.

"A gaming company that will soon be known around the world," he said.

By the way, I heard from Dad that you'll be going to Italy next Tuesday," she said.

"Hmm," he nodded.

"I'm also going there to launch a branch of my company, so I booked the flight for the same day as you," she said.

"Hmm," he nodded, but a headache sprang up immediately. He furrowed his brows internally, thinking,

"What kind of trouble is this?"

Emilia took him to Max Restaurant, a Ghanaian restaurant that made him feel like he was back in Ghana. He couldn't help but remember the sad memories he left behind in Ghana. They ate, and afterward, they spent the rest of the day together as she took him around the city.

By 8 pm, they were already at a tourist center on the outskirts of the city. At first, he felt some resistance as she dragged him around the city, but he accepted his fate and decided to tour the city with her.

As they drove back on the deserted road at the outskirts of the city, trying to return to town,

"Thanks for today," he told her.

"No problem, I'm glad you enjoyed your day," she said.

"By the way, Wallace, what about your parents?" she asked.

His expression darkened when he heard about that, and suddenly,

"Watch out!" he shouted as he dragged Emilia into his arms, wrapping his arms around her.

"Bang!" A truck hit the driver's side of the car. Wallace wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

"Bang!" His head hit the window and shattered it. He saw stars as his vision turned blurry.

The truck stopped, but his head had already been badly damaged, and he was losing consciousness.

"Let's take him and leave the lady," one of the men said.

"Take the lady; you should know her father. We must not leave any loose ends," another voice said. That was the last thing he heard before he lost consciousness.

*******************

"Ahh," Wallace gasped as he regained consciousness, finding himself in an abandoned building with chains tying his arms. He looked around and saw Emilia beside him; she was awake. He used his body to bear the brunt of the damage, so she was just shaken. She looked at him, worried.

"Wallace, are you okay?" she asked.

"Hmm," he nodded his head.

His clairvoyance ability picked up five people around him with guns. His vision was blurred due to the blood covering his face. She turned pale as she looked at him worriedly. The cut must have been very bad.

"Who are you people, and who sent you?" he asked.

"We're the ones who will kill you," one of them answered. His eyes darkened as he sensed the arrival of a car, and he saw the person who got down from the car.

The door to the factory opened, and

"Wallace, oh Wallace. You should have died the first time. Now you'll be dragging another innocent soul with you," he heard the familiar voice as the familiar face made its way into their view. Emilia's face turned pale when she saw the person.

"Is that not your father?" she asked him.

"Not my father, I don't have any family," he answered.

"They're all trying to kill me," he said.

"I don't know how you came back to life," the familiar voice said.

"I don't care again, because I will be killing you this time around, and I'll make sure you don't have a body to resurrect again," he said, collecting a gun and pointing it at Wallace's head.

Emilia's face turned pale when she heard that and saw the gun pointed at Wallace's head.

"Any last words?" Williams asked.

Wallace smiled mockingly. "You should have just settled down in Ghana obediently and waited for the day of your reckoning," he said.

"Hmm," Williams was surprised.

"Bang!" The chains tying Wallace's hands broke into pieces immediately, and before Williams could pull the trigger, Wallace grabbed the gun and seized it. He turned to the five men, who were already flustered.

He focused his strength on his leg, and

"Boom!" The ground underneath broke, and he took off.

"Bang, Bang" Five explosion sounds were heard as five perfectly fine humans exploded into a shower of flesh and blood.

Emilia's face turned pale as she saw the gory sight, and she couldn't help but puke. Williams turned afraid when he saw that, and he rushed towards Emilia, but "Bang!" He had to jump back because the ground in front of him was shot.

Wallace pointed a gun at him as he walked towards him step by step. He heard the wailing of souls as tentacles extended from his back and caught the five souls. He absorbed the essence, and they disintegrated forever.

Warm currents flowed through his limbs into his stomach region before coagulating there.

"You should have just stayed in Ghana. I will still come and meet you there," he said.

"Why do you have to come all the way here to court death?" he asked.

"Pa," he shot, and

"Ahh" screamed rang out from Williams' mouth. His hand had been shot.

"That's just an advance of the suffering you will experience," he said to the screaming Williams.

"Go back to Ghana, sit like an obedient child, and wash your neck, because reckoning will come back for you. Don't even think of pinning the blame on me," he told Williams, and he walked towards Emilia, whose face was ghastly pale.

"Are you okay?" she asked with a shivering tone, looking at him. Blood covered his face.

"No problem, can you walk on your own?" he asked. "Hmm," she shook her head.

He carried her outside and searched his pocket. Thankfully, his phone was still with him. He dialed Lucia's number. Finally, after an hour, they arrived back at Wallace's apartment.

"Just go and shower first," he told Emilia.

"Hmm," she nodded her head.

"What about your injury?" she asked.

"Lucia will tend to it," he answered.

She went into the guest room. Lucia brought out a first-aid box and cleaned his injury before bandaging it. She left.

Back in a hotel, Williams' injury had been tended to, and his arm had been bandaged up. The scene of five humans exploding from Wallace's punch appeared in his sight again. He couldn't help but shiver.

"No, he's not human again. I must not sit down just like this. I'm not a match for him," he thought, using his left hand to pick up his phone and dial a number.

"Hello," the voice on the other end of the line answered. "What are you calling for?" the voice asked.

"I met a meta-human today, and he's a new one," Williams said.
