Linda's POV
Crystal chandeliers cast a gentle glow across the opulent ballroom. The air was filled with the sound of a live orchestra, but it didn't help to ease my anxiety. My fingers shaking, I adjusted the folds of my emerald-green gown.
"Are you prepared?" As he adjusted his bow tie, Kevin inquired. Despite his composed appearance, his voice was tense.
I looked around at the sea of well-dressed guests and said, "No." "This is like entering a lion's den."
Kevin touched my arm in a comforting manner. "Linda, we are here to discover answers. Just stay with me.
Despite my heart beating like a drum, I nodded.
We were met with courteous smiles and interested looks as soon as we entered the crowd. I had the impression that everyone was watching me, gossiping, and passing judgment.
"Do you believe Nathan has already arrived?" I muttered.
"Probably," Kevin answered. "Remain vigilant."
