Linda's POV
I kept looking at the envelope that my lawyer was holding. As he swiftly scanned the document with his eyes, the room became uncannily silent. I held my breath in the vain hope that this was the evidence we had been looking for.
His face was strained as he gazed at me. "This might be the reprieve we needed, Linda, but it won't be enough to clear your name completely."
A knot in my stomach tightened. "What are you saying? "What does it say?" I trembled when I spoke.
The attorney let out a long sigh. It demonstrates Nathan's forgery. He created the document detailing the unlawful activities that implicated you. This is hard proof that it was a hoax. However, He hesitated, obviously hesitant to continue. "It does not prove that you were innocent of all other things."
My heart fell. Although we have the necessary proof, it was insufficient. I wasn't free yet.
