In response to the sudden confession that came out of nowhere, Ethan gave a careful answer. Ellie continued with difficulty.
"I'm going on a business trip. The last one."
"... Is that so?"
"I'm sorry. I'm even more sorry that this is all I can say."

Ethan wiped away Ellie's softly sobbing tears and looked into her eyes.
"I wanted to ask what you liked about that person, what about him makes you this troubled... but I don't think I need to know anymore. I don't want to know about someone who keeps making you cry like this."
"I'm not a good person worthy of your devotion, Ethan."
"You're the person I like."

"Even if I fall short of that person in everything else, at least I can make sure you don't cry because of me."
