"Oh...! Mr. Vice President, in front...!"
Screech-!
Simon's car came to a sudden stop with a loud noise. Even in that moment, as if trying to protect Ellie, Simon's sturdy arm was stretched out in front of her body.
"What the...?"
"Mr. Vice President, isn't that... a water deer?"
Both of them stared out the window with frozen expressions. A large water deer was standing in the middle of the road, seemingly having appeared out of nowhere. As Simon repeatedly honked the horn, the deer slowly began to back away.
With his hand still stretched towards Ellie, Simon turned his head and asked,
"Are you okay?"
"Ah, yes..."
"Hah."
The startled Simon loosened his neatly tightened tie and rubbed his temple. Simon's car slowly started moving again, but at a noticeably slower speed than before.
"That was really dangerous, wasn't it?"
Ellie spoke first, trying to break the awkwardness. Simon seemed to focus only on driving without responding, but then he unexpectedly shared a story.
